The first meeting…
Bodies littered the ground, blood dyeing the puddles of rainwater crimson as only one remained amid the carnage. Standing straight with an intimidating aura that scared off most regulars and even the fiercest foes alike was Goo Kim, an 18-year-old false blond with a penchant for arriving at the worst possible situations. For example, he was just trying to walk home tonight after a bad culinary test ruined his mood when he came in contact with a bunch of unconscious men littering his pathway.
He slipped accidentally when he saw the first one, and now his beige school blazer is drenched with the blood of these random public nuisances. It didn’t help that his knives fell out of his holder and now needed to be cleaned thoroughly unless he wanted to buy a new set. ‘Dammit! Does anyone around here even understand the worth of money these days!’ pondered the blond as he hastily wiped the knives on his shirt to avoid the blood drying on them, since it would cause them to rust faster.
This isn’t the first time he’s been caught up in these situations, and because of that, he’s garnered a bad reputation despite not even doing much! It comes into use sometimes, though, he has to admit. He made a couple hundred from his cousin for beating up some middle school bullies who hadn’t even reached puberty, and other miscellaneous jobs as a bodyguard by just standing and looking intimidating. The downsides are situations like now, where he had to explain to people that no, he isn’t some mass murderer, or please don’t come for revenge; I have school tomorrow.
“Goo Kim... You are certainly exactly like how they speak. Truly a worthy fighter to handle the brothers, someone even I took time with!” the suspicious individual at the other end of the alleyway said, chuckling ominously as he approached closer. Looking at him carefully, Goo notices that they seem to be around the same age and height, the other only being slightly shorter, but that’s probably because he’s still standing on one of the bodies.
Stepping off the stranger’s back, the blond casually decides to question the other, becoming slightly irritated at the obstacle in his way. “I have no idea what you’re talking about... but I would prefer if you would get out of my way,” he says, ending the last part with a normal smile, hoping to come off as non-threatening and compliant to the maniac whose grin has started to show some teeth.
The rain has begun to start up again as he finally snaps out of his tense state, body reacting to the utter killing intent that practically radiates from the man in front of him. Instructing his brain how to walk again, he slowly trudges by the other, surprised by the lack of complaint as he passes by. It really isn’t much of a shock when he is grabbed by his shoulder and flipped around. This sudden movement has him slipping to the side with his arms flailing, only briefly managing to avoid the punch that went straight for his head by sheer luck. The look of shock is almost palpable on the other’s face as Goo straightens up and starts to run his mouth in typical Goo fashion.
“Hey! You know it’s considered murder to punch someone with glasses,” he quips nervously, jokes acting as a defense mechanism. ‘Fuck fuck fuck, I totally didn’t just say that.’ Expecting to get punched again, he is instead witness to the internal conflict that goes through the dark-haired man in the split second that he looked over. Huh, there’s a strange cut that hasn’t been there a second ago, probably from when he slipped and smacked him in the face with his rings.
In a moment, the situation has changed, and Goo feels bad for judging this man by his looks. He must be lost; he doesn’t really look Korean... Man, did I accidentally bully this random innocent foreigner? His thoughts began to stray as he thought of ways to apologize for being a dickhead. When he was about to spit out a brief and equally uncaring apology, the mystery man seemed to finally remember he could speak.
“You... You have to join me. Not even the best of my clan back home could manage to scratch me, let alone draw blood like you have,” he cut in, leaning over towards the faux blond to the point where his breaths began to fog up his glasses slightly. “Come with me, and together we can crush anyone in our paths!” he uttered in glee, mouth opening in a devious smile that showed too many teeth for comfort. Innocent foreigner my ass, Goo thought in shock, a mental patient seems to be a better description. His shoulder aches from where spindly fingers were pressing deep into it, and Goo wouldn’t be too surprised if a bruise were to be left behind as a result.
“Y’know, most people would suggest world domination on the second date at least... I don’t even know your name!” he retorted defensively, enunciating the last point with a sharp point to his chest, pushing him back slightly. The crazy person seems too dazed with something else, so maybe he could get away with a bit of a distraction; he has class tomorrow, for fuck’s sake! As if taking Goo’s words into serious consideration, the other hummed pensively and took up his offer.
“Gun Park. Don’t forget it since we’re going to be working together,” the maniac—Gun—said almost dashingly, expression almost horrifyingly different from just a minute ago. The man reaches towards his jacket pocket in a way that has Goo inwardly reciting every single gun law that Korea has, and instead pulls out a packet of cigarettes and a lighter to light one. With a couple of clicks, the cigarette is finally lit with a spark, and the resulting smell reminds Goo why he isn’t too fond of smokers. But despite that, there is something about the way that Gun does it that almost makes him want to forget all the rules he set in place to protect himself.
Was it because of the dreamy moonlight that enveloped the black-haired man in a striking pale glamour? Or was it the atmosphere that drew them together like it was destiny? Because when the other took a drag of the cancer stick and went to offer him a chance to take a hit, Goo almost instinctively leaned in to take a puff. “So, what do you say? Are you going to come with me?” the other uttered softly, appearing to be in the same trance that Goo himself was in.
They both leaned closer, noses almost touching, and Goo understood what he had to do.
With a quick move of his head, he leaned by and pushed forward with all his force and strength garnered from years of cleaning the culinary rooms.
Thunk
You could practically hear the noise Gun made as he fell aside from the clean headbutt he had received. Goo was already dashing away, faster than he ever had in his life, not even bearing to look behind. With a jovial shout, he yells out, “Fuck off, you bastard!” Exclamation echoing throughout the alley, drawing the attention of the local neighbors who started to peer out into the streets to see what had happened only to mind the shape of a man face planted in the floor.
With the wind on his side and home terrain to his advantage, Goo safely returns home, in one shape with all knives in hand and bag dangerously hanging off his neck. Huffing as he clutches his knee in order to regain his energy, he recalls the last expression he saw on the other’s face as he ran into the wind.
The bastard was grinning... fuck, why do I always meet the weird ones, Goo whines in his head. He puts his hand in his pocket to put his wallet on the table as he hangs up his red and white jacket, only to find a particular school ID card missing. Even though Goo could've dropped it while running, or simply left it at school, he can's shake of the strange feeling that this won’t be the last time he’ll meet the other.
