Work Text:

“What is it?”

“Nothing,” he grinned, “I just thought that you’ve been comfortable being around here, huh?”

Luther only sipped his tea with a still expression, “I guess so.”

The doctor continued to enjoy his watch on the TV, leaning to his back on the sofa. The programmer beside him didn’t do anything different.

It’s been a few weeks since Luther occasionally came to help Doctor H with his work.

Tonight, it was a calm, peaceful night of rest.

Luther didn’t find the show interesting, nor boring. It was a simple entertainment, but it does set his heart at ease. Occasionally, he looked at Doctor to his left, just having a little smile. When he happened to look back, he would grin at the coincidence, turning Luther’s head back to the screen by reflex.

Few minutes passed by, Luther realized he had grown bored; he decided to brush his teeth and get to sleep. But as he collected the energy to stand, he was stunned– by Doctor’s head resting on his shoulder.

Was he always this close? He was sure he was on the other end of the sofa.

But sighing, Luther decided to use this as an excuse to skip another night of keeping his hygiene. After all, his co-worker was sleeping on his shoulder, it would be rude to–

Then Doctor fell to his lap. From the top, Luther realized he was still awake, albeit his eyes kept fluttering of drowsiness.

“Turn off the TV, you’re collapsing.”

“Heheh.. maybe i should.”

He turned the device off. But the feeling of the weight lifting from his lap didn’t come. He sighed again in his heart.

“You’re not moving?”

“...” he saw his reply from his face, just smirking tiredly.

“Sorry Luther, got too comfortable…and tired, can we just sleep here tonight?”

Luther was surprised to hear it, but not shocked. He just didn’t expect his imaginative dialogue to actually be said.

He patted his head, “That tired?”

Doctor already closed his eyes.

“...Alright, but let me get a good position.”

Both are cooperative, even while drowsy. He was on the inner side, while Doctor at the edge; easier that way since he slept on his lap first. The blanket then fit both of their bodies, no longer from one armrest to the other side.

Oh, Luther knew this light feeling.

Now overthinking could only pass through his brain.

Right now, he was cold, and Doctor was on the edge despite his figure fitting in.

He hugged the man from his back, wrapping his hand to the stomach.

The warmth then hit the spot, and that was the final bell before both of them fell to a deep sleep.

The next morning, the five heroes found their father along with his colleague asleep on the couch. Just their father though, his friend was awake–and held by him from the top.

Interrupting their giggles and a snap of camera, he grumbled, “Can you guys help? My body hurts.”

“Okay, okay. Just a bit.” Happy lifted Doctor, and he was set free. He sat on the floor, collecting the will to stand, again.

“Sweet dreams?” Sweet teased him while bringing a cup of water. He only remembered that last night has the warmth that he has long since felt. He didn’t say though, “I don’t really remember.”

After the five heroes left for a call, Doctor finally woke up. He found Luther eating toast in the dining room.

“Sorry that they teased you so much.” He filled and sipped his glass of coffee. “I don’t usually sleep with my co-workers.”

“Would be news-breaking to be true.”

“Then would Sister Peach come?”

“And you would crawl under a hole of shame.”

Both lazily giggled to the convo, and sat down by the table to enjoy their breakfast. They spent it with silence, the smell of toast gradually replaced by the fresh air. Although these days seemed to be a bit blurry, right now the moment felt very clear in their hearts and mind.

It was a good night, and it was a good morning.

Notes:

Could the actual couch from the show fit both of their big ahh heads
