Spencer looked over his outfit in the mirror, it was his normal winter outfit. A brown coat with a purple scarf and dark jeans. Spencer loved this outfit, but now he was worrying if it was good enough. This was his first date with JJ and the omega wanted to impress the alpha. Spencer had the biggest crush on JJ for years. She was beautiful on the inside and out. Every time the alpha smiled, Spencer melted a little bit. JJ had this laugh that Spencer could listen to all day and the alpha was smart as hell. JJ was the only one to call him Spence and the omega loved her for it. His best friend, Derek, had tried to urge Spencer to ask JJ out serval times. He told Spencer that it was 2024, it was acceptable for omegas to ask out alphas, but Spencer never had the nerve.
JJ could have any omega she wanted, why would she want him? Spencer had resigned himself to only admiring her from far away. Until JJ asked him out and Spencer had quickly agreed. He felt stupid now, his hair wasn’t good enough, his outfit wasn’t either, and a part of him wondered if this was one big joke. Still, this might be his only chance to get the girl of his dreams.
All Spencer had to do was not mess this up.

Spencer was going to mess this up.
JJ took them to an ice skating rink for their first date and Spencer couldn’t skate. Spencer didn’t want to tell JJ that, didn’t want her to think he wasn’t interested in her. So, Spencer would just stake… On the ice… How hard could it be?
Spencer’s legs wobbled and his arms flailed as he tried to keep himself from falling onto his face. JJ laughed, locking their arms together and keeping Spencer on his feet. “I’m so sorry, Spence. If I knew you couldn’t skate, I would have planned another date.”
Spencer gave her a wobbly smile. “It’s okay, I’m having fun.”
“You are?” JJ grinned and Spencer nodded. “Here, let me teach you how to do it.” Spencer felt a little sad when JJ pulled away, he loved having the alpha so close to him. “It’s real simple, you wanna stand tall.”
Spencer tried, but when he did, he felt himself falling backwards. Luckily, JJ caught him and placed one of her hands on the small of his back. The alpha held him until Spencer didn’t feel like he was going to fall. He gave her a nervous smile. “Thank you.”
“Of course! Now the next thing you wanna do is keep soft knees.” Spencer frowned, he had no idea what she meant, but he nodded anyway. “Awesome, now get the feel of your skates.”
She showed him what she meant, the alpha would pick up one foot hold it, put it back down, and did the same with her other foot. Spencer decided he would do the same, it looked easy enough. Spencer lifted one leg and fell on his face.

Spencer leaned his head back, with tissue pressed to his nose. Spencer groaned, he didn’t care about the pain at all. He blew his one and only chance. JJ would never want to go on another date with him ever again.
“Spence, I’m so sorry!” JJ said for the twelfth time. “I just thought… You know… Ice skating was romantic and I thought it would be more impressive than some dinner. I should have stuck with dinner, I’m so sorry.”
“I’m sorry too.” Spencer said, his voice sounding muffled because of the bloody tissue. “I ruined our date, but hey… At least you don’t have to waste any more time with me. You can find a cooler omega to date.”
“What?” JJ gasped. “What are you talking about? I ruined our date! I’m sure you’ll never want to go out with me again!”
Spencer frowned. “What? If I had another chance, I would totally go out with you again, JJ.”
JJ huffed out a small laugh. “If I had another chance, I’d take you out in a heartbeat.”
“Really?”
“Really, Spence.”
Spencer fumbled his hand until he found JJ’s. The alpha squeezed it and Spencer’s heart skipped a beat. “I would love to go out with you again.”
“I would love that too, Spence.”
Spencer was sitting on a bench near the ice skating rink with his head tilted back and a tissue pressed to his nose. Spencer was holding JJ’s hand and the alpha wanted to go out with him again. This was the best date ever!
