Work Text:

Climber sat on a bench.

The bitter, cold wind rustles behind him as he awaited the company of his friend. Every night they meet at the same bench, however, his friend hadn’t shown up for the past few days, leaving Climber anxious as he nervously hoped today would be the day she’d return. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her; Clarice.

She was as beautiful as she was clever, her sarcastic edge giving Climber an odd attraction for her. She had brown hair strewn into a long, flowy braid that fell off the edge of her shoulder. Usually, she’d sport the same purple sweater, however today she was only in a tank top and jeans.

Climber smiled sweaty at the sight of his friend.

“Hey clarice! How are you doing? I haven’t seen you lately…”

His smile quickly dropped as he realized her slouched demeaner and watery eyes.

“Clarice? What’s wrong?”

She sat down next to him, resting her head on his shoulder. The sudden contact made Climber’s face feel warm.

“I’m just glad to be back…”

Not wanting to push her to talk, Climber responded with, “Well, if you ever want to talk about it, I’m here! :D”

Clarice lifted her face to look up at Climber, his dorky grin making her instantly blush.

It was odd, Clarice had always liked Climber as a friend, but never considered him to potentially be anything else… mostly due to his… plush-ness. Yet, in this moment, she wanted nothing more than to feel his oddly warm body against her.

“I love you.”

The words spilled out of her mouth, such an awkward statement had never felt more natural to say.
Climber studdered as he looked for the right words to say in response. This made Clarice giggle.

“I… I think I love you too!”

Climber responded, smiling at his words knowing they both felt the same for each other.

Clarice readjusted herself on his lap, cupping his face with her hands.

“Umm… what are you…” Before Climber could finish his sentence, Clarice had grabbed his face and planted a soft kiss on his mouth. The residue of his mud-mouth left an odd taste on Clarice’s tongue, but oddly enough she didn’t mind it. As she parted away from the kiss, Climber looked down at her.

“Oh wow… Clarice… that was… I…”

If he could blush, he would be tomato red.

Clarice giggled, holding up a finger to his mouth.
“I liked it too.”

They both sat there on the bench, holding eachother until the moon went down.
