Chapter Text

. . .
I shifted against the concrete underneath me, and as my arms straightened stiffly next to me, I felt the texture against my fingers. The concrete stairs were cool to the touch, albeit not the most comfortable seat on Earth. I checked my watch again, lifting it to my face to be sure I wasn't misreading the time. "Almost 8:30..." I thought, sighing and letting my hand fall back onto the step. Felix was supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago.

Just as I began to feel anxious, I heard a car rolling up in front of me. It was a nice car, with a beautiful shine on its black coat — always nice to sit in as well, considering it was a newer model. I slowly stood up, brushed myself off, and approached the car. Just then, the man hurriedly stumbled out of the driver's seat and sprinted over enthusiastically, opening the door and greeting me.

"Hey! Sorry I'm late... I wanted to make sure I was really ready." Felix chuckled softly, running his fingers through his slicked-back hair. You could tell from his expression that he felt embarrassed about showing up late.

"Don't worry about it — we should still make it in time. Glad we planned in some buffer time just in case, right?" I turned and smiled at him as I stepped into his car and settled into my seat, watching him shut the door, nodding in response to me. He walked around to the other side once more, got in, and took a deep breath before starting up the car and continuing on our way.

The car ride was relatively quiet, minus some occasional chatter between us here and there — just typical conversing about our day. When we arrived at the location, we found a good spot where we could see the screen, but not too close to others that could disrupt us. He parked the car and leaned back in his seat.

"Sooo..." Felix began, tapping his hands on the steering wheel. "You want me to go get us some popcorn and a drink, maybe...?" He turned towards you questioningly, awkwardly shifting in his seat.

"Yeah, actually... that'd be great, Fel. Thank you!" I smiled widely at Felix, watching the blush creep up onto his cheeks. He nodded and stepped out of the car, wallet in hand.

I saw Felix approach the stand, fidgeting in line, before he disappeared from view. When he reappeared, he was hurrying back to the car with a drink and popcorn in hand.

"You need any help?" I leaned out of the window, looking at Felix with his arms full. He just shook his head, fumbling with the door handle. After a bit of struggle, he finally swung it open, plopping back into his seat and setting the popcorn and drink between us.
