Early Christmas Gift

Summary:

Sanji needed to go to the market for the future Christmas dinner. It was the third one Sanji orchestrated at the Romantic Curly, his restaurant in all-blue, and despite it, he was still a bit nervous.

Dai told him he could go but Sanji needed to. He trusted his sous chef like his Zeff but he needed to see the product himself.

And since Sanji was going to the market, Marimo wanted to go to the market too, and since Marimo was going with him, Sora and Pedro too.

Well, it seems the little Roronoa family will have to go to the market!

Notes:

I got the idea when I went to see fireworks yesterday and I saw a dad walking around with his daughter on his shoulder and the little girl yelling "Papi! Papi!" while the dad was telling her to continue to call for her Papi. I thought of Zosan and I got possessed I guess.

I'll try to post on the 24th. (If I succeed it's a fucking Christmas miracle.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

On the 23rd of December, Sanji realized he needed to go to the market to buy small groceries for the future Christmas dinner. It was the third one Sanji orchestrated at the Romantic Curly, his restaurant in all-blue, and despite it, he was still a bit nervous.

“It’s going to be fine boss!” smiled Dai.

Dai was his sous chef and Sanji trusted him with his eyes closed but no it wasn’t fine.

“How can you say that when we are missing many ingredients!”

Sanji was close to started grabbing his hair and Dai dared to sigh.

“We’re only missing a couple of things. We just need more potatoes, a couple of herbs, and more salmon. Beside that everything is fine.” Dai smiled and bumped with his fist Sanji’s shoulder. “You know boss, I can even go to the market while you’re staying here with the kids.”

Sanji closed his eyes as he sighed. From the upper stairs, he could hear Sora’s giggling and Pedro’s babbling. It’s Zoro’s turn to dress the kids, and knowing their daughter, Sora must drive the most insane.

He smiled hearing his children’s laugh. “No, it’s fine. I’ll go and I’ll take the kids so they can see the village’s decoration again.”

Dai nodded. “As you wish boss!”

Sanji climbed the stairs and went to Sora’s room. Sora was four and loved Christmas. She loved the decorations in the town, and yesterday, snow had wrapped the whole island in a white coat.

Pedro was only two and started to understand. His blue eyes shone as he looked at the light and the Christmas tree on the village square.

The kids would love to go to the village again, and since Sanji needed to buy some ingredients, it would be a good opportunity to do so.

Sanji caressed his belly. It’s been a week since he learned the wonderful news and he couldn’t wait to tell Zoro. He first wanted to wait until Christmas but he felt he couldn’t wait one more day.

When he arrived at the room, he saw Zoro sitting on the floor with Pedro on his lap, showing Sora two dresses, one red and the other purple. Half of Sora’s wardrobe was empty, and the clothes piled on the floor. Zoro’s had his serious dad face on.

“Come on princess, it’s the two last ones, so please choose one before Papa arrives and says we’re late again.”

Sora hummed. “I think” She chewed her bottom lip. “I like the red one.”

Zoro closed his eyes. “Yes. Thank you baby” He opened them again and handed the dress to his daughter. “Now please baby dress up before Papa arrives”

Sanji smiled and cleared his throat making his husband jolt. “Everything is alright?”

Zoro smiled “Perfect. You?”

Sanji sighed. “Well we’ve found out we are missing a few ingredients so I have to go to the market.”

Before Zoro could speak Sora cut him. ‘We’re going to the village again?”

Saanji nodded with a smile. “Only if you had been nice with Dada while Papa was working.”

Sora pouted. “I’m always nice.”

Both Sanji and Zoro chuckled as Pedro babbled. “Soza nice!”

Sora pointed at her little brother and exclaimed. “See! Even Pedro says I’m nice.” making Zoro and Sanji laugh even harder.

They loved their princess with all their heart but they knew their little angel was a cheeky one.

Sora was four, and her favorite game was to prank the different cooks in the kitchen. Of course, no one was really mad at her. Sora was simply too cute to be mad at. And despite being only two, Pedro followed his sister like a shadow in all of her plans. Sometimes, Sanji was worried for his cooks' safety when the two children grew up.

After lunch, Sanji and Zoro prepared the kids to face the winter’s cold.

The little Roronoa family arrived at the neighborhood island at the beginning of the afternoon. Sora wanted to walk by herself, loving hearing the snow crack under her boots and giggling at the sound. Sanji was carrying Pedro in his sling, the baby boy knew how to walk but because of the snow, Sanji preferred to carry him.

Sanji and Zoro made sure their children wouldn’t be cold and kept adjusting the beanie and scarf on their precious little heads.

Sora had an adorable matching pink coat and gloves Auntie Nami bought her the previous week while Pedro had a matching blue outfit chosen by Auntie Robin. Sora walked holding hands with her papa and pointed at everything. The lights, the snow, the trees, the shops, everything.

Sanji smiled at his daughter and looked around the different shops. He had his list in his pocket and Zoro would carry the bags and make sure Sora didn’t get lost.

Except.

It was Zoro who got lost.

Sanji sighed. It’s been five minutes. Five minutes in the market and they already lost Zoro. The good thing was now the villagers were used to them and knew when they saw Zoro to bring him back either to Sanji or to the restaurant.

Sora looked around and whispered. “I think we lost Dada again."

"It’s more dada who lost us, baby."

Pedro babbled “Dada lost!” as if he agreed with his papa.

Sanji sighed. He didn’t have time to find his idiot husband. He needed to finish the groceries and pass by the village square to see the three or Sora would cry and probably Pedro too.

A desperate situation meant desperate measures.

Sanji kneeled and asked Sora. "Sweetie, can you call dada?"

Sora nodded smiling. She took a deep breath and Sanji covered Pedro’s ears. Then Sora screamed from the top of her lungs. "Dada!"

And one second later Zoro magically appeared right next to them.

Sanji discovered after Sora started talking that no matter where Zoro was if their daughter called him, he would be there in the next second. Sanji hoped Pedro would have the same power.

Zoro looked at them. "Everything is alright? Where were you guys? Did you see something?"

Sanji sighed. "Nothing it's fine moss. Sora, baby, can you hold Dada’s hand ?"

Sora nodded and took her dada’s hand while Sanji started walking again. They looked at the different shelves, and thanks to Zoro’s glaring eyes, Sora got free churros, and Sanji got a lot of discounts despite the increase in prices due to the season.

Once they finished their purchase and yes Sanji shed a tear when the fish-man gave his salmon for free, the little Roronoa family went to the village square. Sora started running along the village’s children in the snow and do some snowball under Zoro’s watchful eye while Sanji showed Pedro some snow closer. His baby boy had a red nose and cheeks and made a funny face when Sanji put a bit of snow on his tongue.

In the middle of the afternoon, the little family took a break to drink hot cocoa and were again free thanks to Zoro. Sanji rested his head on Zoro’s shoulder while Sora and Pedro were babbling together and smiled. He felt Zoro wrapping his arm around his waist and his husband kissed his blond hair.

"I’m so happy." Whispered Sanji

"Yeah me too." Whispered back Zoro.

Then Sora and Pedro started giggling because Sora thanks to her hot chocolate had a cream mustache above her top lip.

"I have to tell you something."

Zoro hummed watching Sora drink more hot cocoa to grow her mustache to make her brother giggle even more.

"I’m pregnant."

He said it. Sanji felt a weight disappear from his shoulders.

They were having a third child.

Sanji was happy but at the same time so scared. His restaurant was just starting to be worldwide and Pedro was still a toddler, they will soon have two children with diapers and go back to the night without sleep and exhaustion.

But they were having a third child. Another human being made from their love.

Sanji didn’t know or met the child yet but he already loved them more than anything.

He feels Zoro tighten his grip around his waist and his smile against his skin when Zoro kisses his cheek.

"I’m the happiest man alive. Thank you so much Curls."

Sanji smile. "I hope this one has your eyes."

Sanji looked at the gray eye he fell in love with when he was nineteen and badly hoped their third one would have the same beautiful eye color.

Zoro smirked and put a golden lock behind Sanji’s ear. "Nah they will have your blue eyes just like their siblings but it’s fine. Your eyes are so beautiful I’m glad they took them. I wonder through which hair color they will have. What do you bet? Green or blond?"

Sanji snorted. "Blond. I don’t want another Marimo."

Zoro burst into laughter. "You did this to yourself curls. Nicknaming Sora broccoli while during your pregnancy was a call."

Then Sora hearing her nickname asked her dad. "What dada?"

"Nothing baby. Did you two finish your coca?"

The children nodded smiling and Sanji spoke. "Good then come on it’s time to go home."

Zoro put Sora on his shoulder after their princess whined she was tired and carried the bag of groceries while Sanji wrapped Pedro back in his carrying sling. “You’re sleepy Squash?”

Pedro shook his head while rubbing his eyes. “No Papa.”

Sanji smiled and kissed his son’s blond hair. “You can sleep baby it’s okay.”

A few meters later despite Pedro’s protest, Sanji felt his baby boy falling asleep as Sora fell asleep too resting her cheek on her dada’s green hair.

The little family went back home and then later in the middle of the night, Sanji suddenly woke up and started to shake Zoro.

Zoro growled and rubbed his eye. “What time is it?”

Sanji looked at the clock and back at his husband. “Three a.m.”

Zoro blinked and buried his face back in his pillow. “Everything is fine Curls and no there is no spider or bug in the room it was just a nightmare you can go back to sleep.”

Sanji started to shake Zoro again. “I know there is no spider idiot moss.”

“Then what?” Zoro yawned. “I’m tired Curls and for once both Sora and Pedro are sleeping.”

Sanji smiled. “I found the perfect nickname for our baby.”

Zoro cracked his eye again. “And?”

“Cabbage.”

Zoro rolled his eye and turned on his side. “Don’t complain in nine months.”

Sanji rolled his eyes and caressed his belly. "Don’t worry Cabbage. Your dada is an idiot you will get used to it." And fall back asleep in his husband’s arms.

In the morning, when Sanji wakes up, he hears Zoro's soft voice and kisses his belly, saying, "Please have green hair just so dada can say I told you so to papa, please my little cabbage." Sanji doesn’t say anything and lets Zoro talk to their baby peacefully.

And when nine months later after Sanji gave birth Zoro was crying carrying their baby girl with a smile so big it must hurt his cheek and said "Told you so."

Sanji doesn’t care whether if their baby girl has green or blond hair; he loves her so much.
