“Buddy, hey, just go through the hole, okay? You’re right there.”
Dean did not understand, so it seemed. He was looking around, settling his gaze on them with a plea in his eyes for someone to help him.
Wednesday and Tyler had been gifted a playpen for Dean but it was not enclosed. It had a small opening for him to get in and out of but right now, their son was having much difficulty with comprehending it.
“Dean,” Tyler cooed, “come on, Buddy. You can come out. It’s right there. You can do it.”
Dean stepped one tiny foot out of it, Wednesday thought he might actually get it now. But that went out the window when he lifted his eyes at them again, his lower lip trembling.
He started to cry and was picked up at once by Tyler, who murmured sweetly as a means of soothing him.
“It’s okay,” Tyler kissed his head. “I’m right here. It’s okay.”
“Well,” Wednesday drawled, “I don’t foresee college to be in his future.”
She ignored the dirty look her husband shot her.
