Work Text:
I drift through Limsa Lominsa whenever my business takes me there. Sometimes by airship from Gridania or Ul’dah. Sometimes I ride in on a chocobo. Occasionally, I take the ferry from Aleport. If I’ve the gil to spare, I travel by Aetherite. But however I journey, all roads lead me there sooner or later. When my business is completed, I’ll tarry for a day or two. I rarely linger in Uldah or Gridania, so why here? What charm does the City of Pirates have for a wandering trader?
She, she is in Limsa Lominsa. She, who could have any man she wished for a consort - though few men indeed are worthy of her. Not a classic beauty, no. Nor has she made her mark as a great intellectual. But she has something a thousand times more valuable than looks or brains - she possesses common sense.
She has colleagues and advisors a-plenty though there are very few she calls friend. Her detractors snipe behind her back that she is wed to the city by duty. It’s true that she guides Limsa with a firm hand. Such a calling leaves her little time or attention for friendships with other people, much less anything more. It takes conviction to manage a city built by ruffians, rogues, and pirates. What would she want with a simple merchant?
I’ll need to leave soon; I’ve goods to take to Camp Tranquil, from there to Drybone, and then to Wineport. And so I’ll take the lift to the airship landing, and look out over the city while I’m waiting for it to be ready. As I pack, I speak a soft invocation to the Navigator to watch over her. If I’m lucky I’ll get a glimpse of her before the airship takes off.
