Work Text:
Finch had struggled to adjust to life underwater with the sea god. While he was glad that he managed to find someone like Poseidon, even if the two of them were so vastly different, with one of them being a mortal and the other a God. He still managed to have a god of all people take him in and love him the way he really wanted to. It was something that even he was shocked that he managed to achieve. Finch was simply a human, a mortal, and yet Poseidon seduced him of all people.
Laying in bed next to his lover, Finch looked up at his large body, it was nice to touch and it was nice to even look at. But it was still not enough. Yes he loved Poseidon so much, but being taken away from home, living a new life, even if he chose this? It was still… Not the best. He had all this stress on his mind that he couldn’t get rid of and it felt like it was enveloping him.
“Are you alright, love?”
Poseidon had spoken up, realising that his lover wasn’t even asleep yet. Finch hadn’t been sleeping lately, or he'd barely been sleeping at all. Finch looked up to him and placed a hand over his chest. Looking at him before snuggling a bit more closer to him.
“I’m okay.”
“Can’t sleep?”
“I’ve tried.”
Snuggling up close to him, Poseidon wrapped an arm around his small mortal lover. Finch snuggled close, enjoying the warm embrace but still found himself turning and being restless in his godly lover's arms. It was just something he couldn’t handle. Finch pushed away from Poseidon, resting on the other side of the bed before sitting up.
“What’s wrong?”
Also sitting up, Poseidon looked at Finch, his mortal lover seemed in distress. He moved to the edge of the bed where Finch was and placed a gentle, but caring hand on their shoulder.
“It’s not important. I just can’t sleep.”
Finch shrugged his lover's hand off. Poseidon seemed to be upset at that.
“Talk to me. What can I do?”
Pausing for a moment, Finch just moved a bit away from Poseidon. While he loved him deeply, with all his heart, the stress of being away from him and still adjusting to life in Poseidon’s domain was still something he just couldn’t fully manage.
“You don’t need to do anything.”
“I want to help you, my love.”
Poseidon placed his larger hand on Finches knee.
“Don’t move away from me, I only want to help.”
“You can’t help!-”
Finch spoke up, slapping Poseidon’s hand away. Quickly getting up from the bed, Poseidon looked down to his lover then to the door of their shared chamber.
“Love- I’m sorry. I didn’t- I didn’t mean it.”
Poseidon took a few steps towards the door before Finch stood up and went to grab his arm. Pulling away from the mortals' grasp, Poseidon stood in front of the door of their shared room. He wasn’t going to be here if his lover was going to act like this.
“Poseidon. Love. Please.”
Finch called out again.
“I’m sorry!- I didn’t mean it! I’m stressed, tired, restless, and sad. I don’t want to hurt you. I never want to hurt you. Please forgive me.”
“Don’t talk.”
Instantly Finch paused. Hesitating on whether to say something or not.
“Love-”
Finch fell to his knees, grabbing Poseidon's hand.
“I’m sorry. Please. Please don’t do this, I’m sorry! I apologised!”
Poseidon had felt Finch grab his hand, looking back to see the mortal on his knees begging for forgiveness. To apologise for yelling at him. Even Poseidon had conflicted emotions about all of this, yes he was hurt by Finch’s words but he still had every right to leave, did he not?
“Don’t Go, Please. My God.”
Without a second warning, Poseidon shrugged and pushed Finches hand back, making him let go of the god’s hand. Quickly leaving and leaving Finch to his own emotions, Poseidon walked down the halls.
Back in the room Finch had started to sob. Placing his back against the wall, head in his hands and knees to his chest. He didn’t want to hurt him. He was just stressed. It was too much stress for him to manage so why was he having to suffer so much?
Eventually, Finch came off of the floor and went back into the bed, clutching onto a pillow and crying softly into it, muttering soft apologies. Hoping that Poseidon would come back.
