Work Text:
The karaoke bar smelled like mulled wine and peppermint schnapps, a glowing neon “Merry Christmas” sign blinking erratically in the corner across the stage.
Moiraine looked as though she’d rather be anywhere else - and she’d made that clear five times already. But here she was, letting her wife drag her into something ridiculous, as usual.
“Relax, babe,” Siuan chuckled. “This is no talent show. It’s Christmas, lighten up.”
“And this is your idea of holiday cheer? Public humiliation?” Moiraine grumbled.
“This is my idea of fun,” Siuan shot back, smirking. “You, me, and the one and only Time After Time. Now quit being a spoilsport and grab the mic.”
The opening chords started before Moiraine could argue, and Siuan beamed like she’d won the lottery. The mic was pressed into Moiraine’s reluctant hand, and Siuan started off, voice raspy but confident.
“If you’re lost, you can look, and you will find me…”
Moiraine sighed, closing her eyes. And then, quietly: “Time after time…”
By the end of the chorus, Siuan had looped an arm around her waist, grinning. Moiraine shook her head, cheeks flushed, but when Siuan leaned in to kiss her after the final note, she didn’t pull away.
