Work Text:

Kirishima loved Christmas.

He loved December, the snow, the movies, the treats and food. Also, Katsuki looked adorable in winter attire, so that was a huge plus of the colder season.

And he especially loved getting gifts for his friends and family.

After classes ended, Kirishima had gone off campus to find a gift for his senpai, the last person he needed a gift for (since Fatgum had forbidden his work study students from getting him anything), and Bakugo had decided to come with him, much to the delight of the redhead.

They’d been out for a couple hours, but Kirishima still hadn’t found anything he thought was perfect yet.

Kirishima knew Amajiki-senpai would probably like anything he got him, but he wanted it to be perfect. His senpai was a wonderful, kind, brave, friend who was always looking out for Kirishima on their patrols together, and he wanted to show his appreciation.

So far though, he wasn’t having any luck, and he still wasn’t sure he’d find anything in the store selling hero merch Bakugo all but dragged him into.

Even if Kirishima didn’t think what they were finding was just right yet, they did find some gems.

“Katsuki, babe!” Kirishima bounced on the balls of his feet, excitedly drumming his fingers on the box in his hands. “Look!”

Bakugo glanced at the box his boyfriend was holding.

“They made my senpai a figure!” Kirishima said happily. “Doesn’t he look awesome?!”

Suneater was posed in a fighting stance, and was using his Vast Hybrid: Chimera Centaur. The lower half of his body transformed into that of a bull and green vines with various fruits on the end stretched out from his fingertips. It even had the cute little bull horns he manifested with that ultimate move!

“You told me he was pretty self conscious, right?” Bakugo asked. “Would he even like a figure of himself?”

Kirishima hummed in thought. “Maybe not…” He sighed and placed the Suneater figure back on the shelf.

“You’re not going to get him? Why not just get him for yourself?”

“I would, but I wanna focus on Amajiki-senpai right now!” Kirishima continued to glance around the shelves of hero figures. “I’ll come back for him another day.”

Bakugo walked down the aisle to browse the other figures they hadn’t seen yet.

“Hey, Ei.” He called, pointing to one section of the shelf. “Look at this one.”

Kirishima looked to where Bakugo was pointed, and grinned widely again.

“It’s perfect, Kats!” Krishima grabbed the Lemillon figure off the display and pressed a kiss onto Bakugo’s cheek, chuckling softly when the blonde boy flushed red.

“Thanks for helping me, babe- oh! I should probably call Toogata to see if Amajiki-senpai would like it."

Bakugo snorted. “It’s a figure of his boyfriend who he compares to the fucking sun. I think he’ll like it.”

“Well, I still wanna make sure!” Kirishima pulled his phone out of his pocket.

Mirio answered on the second ring.

“Kirishima-kun! And Problem Child Number Two! What can I do for you?”

“Hi, Toogata!” Kirishima said, just as cheerful. “We’re out Christmas shopping for Amajiki-senpai, and we found something I think he’ll like, but I wanted to show you first since you know him best!”

The blonde boy on screen nodded. “I’m always happy to help Tamaki’s junior!”

Kirishima flipped the camera around, aiming it at the Lemillon figure on the shelf.

“Oh,” Mirio said, and Kirishima could see his brow was furrowed. “Tamaki already has that one. We tend to get each other our hero merch when it drops.”

As cute as that was, Kirishima was frustrated. Bakugo gave his hand a comforting squeeze.

“Hey!” Mirio said, giving the red head an encouraging smile. “Don’t give up hope, Kirishima! I’ll help you look around! The Tamaki Amajiki expert is at your service!”

“I’ll keep looking too.” Bakugo turned to the shelf behind them

The redhead grinned. “Thanks Toogata. And thank you too, baby!”

“So, you’re set on getting him a figure, right? Who else do they have?”

“They have one of Suneater, but I’m not sure if he’d like a figure of himself.” Kirishima explained.

“The one where he’s using Vast Hybrid: Chimera Centaur!?” Mirio asked excitedly.

“Yes!” Kirishima aimed the camera to where the Suneater figure was sitting.

“It's amazing, isn’t it?” Mirio gushed into the phone. “I have him sitting on my desk, and I love him so much!”

“Amajiki-senpai is so cool!” Kirishima gushed back, equally excited to have someone who was just as enthusiastic about his fellow work study student. “I’m gonna come back for him after Christmas is over.”

Mirio nodded. “You’re right about him not liking it, though. Tamaki tends to get shy about owning his own hero merch. He has a lot of me, Fatgum, and Nejire-chan though!”

“I found one,” Bakugo walked back to where Kirishima was standing. He held a figure of a very familiar person up to the redhead's phone.

Mirio gasped in delight, eyes sparking through the phone screen. “That one is perfect, Problem Child Number Two!”

“Obviously.” Bakugo scoffed. “Also, stop fucking calling me that.”

Mirio just laughed brightly.

Kirishima let his boyfriend set the figure box in his free hand.

“Are you sure Amajiki-senpai would like a figure of me?” Kirishima asked, his eyes still glued to the Red Riot figure. He was still in awe that there was hero merch made in his likeness. After all, he was still a student. The honor of getting merch was usually only for heroes who were already Pros.

“Totally!” Mirio flashed a thumbs up at the camera. “He actually mentioned the other day that he was shocked you didn’t have any yet, he’s been trying to find some. He’ll love it, Kirishima-kun, I promise!”

“And if he doesn’t, I’ll just use my quirk on his face again.” Bakugo added on, but Kirishima could tell he was lying. That ‘scary’ act of his never worked on the redhead.

“Then I guess I’ll just have to keep him safe from you, as his knight in shining armor!” Mirio said proudly.

The other blonde boy rolled his eyes. “Gross.”

Mirio laughed again. It seemed as though he wasn’t intimidated by Bakugo either. If only the same could be said of Amajiki-senpai…

“If you’re sure he’ll like it, then I’ll get him the Red Riot figure.” Kirishima finally decided.

“Great!” A gentle knock could be heard through the phone speaker. “That’s Tamaki, I gotta go. I promise you he’ll love the Red Riot figure, Kirishima-kun! Talk to you later.”

Kirishima put his phone back into his pocket. “You ready to go, babe?”

“Go ahead,” Bakugo gestured to the cashier. “I’ll meet up with you in a sec.”

“Okay! Hey, we should get some hot chocolate or something before going back to campus. We have some time left before curfew!”

As Kirishima was getting checked out by the very tired but friendly cashier, he was completely unaware of Bakugo snapping a picture of the Suneater figure and the quick text he sent soon after.

~

“Hey, Amajiki-senpai?”

The indigo haired boy poked his head around the door of his locker. The two of them were getting changed after their last patrol with Fatgum of the year. Their mentor had decided to give them the rest of the month off so they could spend time with their loved ones.

“Yes?”

Kirishima pulled the wrapped figure out of his own locker, and held it out towards the older boy. “This is for you. Merry Christmas.”

“You didn’t have to get me anything….” Tamaki said, pulling his cardigan out of his locker and slipping it on.

“I know,” Kirishima smiled. “But I wanted to anyway. You’ve done so much for me, Amajiki-senpai, I wanted to show my appreciation.”

“Thank you,” Tamaki’s cheeks turned a little pink, but he gave Kirishima a little smile in return. He carefully took the gift out of the redhead’s hand, and pulled a similarly sized wrapped box out of his locker.

“I-I got you something too, actually. Merry Christmas, Kirishima-kun.”

“Wow!” Kirishima’s smile got even wider. “Thank you so much, senpai! You really are the best.”

The two up and coming heroes sat on the long bench between the rows of lockers.

“You go first, senpai,” Kirishima gestured to him. The redhead wondered if Tamaki could see how nervous he was. “I really hope you like it.”

Kirishima has always been the type to excitedly rip off the wrapping paper of gifts very quickly, something he doesn’t think will ever change (especially because he knew Bakugo thought it was cute) but his senpai appeared to be the exact opposite.

Tamaki carefully untied the ribbon that Yaomomo had helped him with earlier that day, and peeled away the shiny red wrapping paper, clearly making sure it stayed in one piece.

Kirishima always liked how calm and quiet his senpai was. The indigo haired boy was so different from his own personality, but it was so easy to get along with him. Amajiki-senpai was like the older brother Kirishima never knew he needed until he started his internship with Fatgum. Much like his relationship with Bakugo, it was hard to imagine what it would be like if he and his senpai weren’t friends.

The little gasp from the older boy broke Kirishima out of his thoughts.

“Do you like it?” Kirishima asked.

“I love it,” Tamaki was fully smiling now, something that Kirishima usually only saw if Mirio was around. “I’ve been trying to find Red Riot merch for so long now, but haven’t been able to. It makes me happy to see someone finally recognize your talents.”

Kirishima felt his ears warm from the praise, but he was honored to hear it from someone he respected so much. “It feels really surreal to have a hero merch of me.”

Tamaki nodded in understanding. “You deserve it though, Kirishima-kun. You’re strong and kind. Even though you’re still in school, civilians already love you. You’re going to be an amazing Pro Hero once you graduate.”

The redhead felt his cheeks hurt from smiling so hard and so much. He knew it was hard for Amajiki-senpai to be so open with his emotions out due to his anxiety, so the fact that he was able to be so sincere to Kirishima meant so much to him.

He really did have the best senpai!

“You’re amazing too, Suneater! I’m so happy you’re my senpai and we get to work together.” Kirishima told him excitedly. “You and Mirio are going to have an amazing Hero Agency after you leave U.A.”

The indigo haired boy hid his face in his hands, but Kirishima swore he could still hear a smile in his voice. “Too bright….”

Kirishima laughed sheepishly. “Sorry, senpai.”

“Just open your gift before I spontaneously combust.” Tamaki set the Red Riot figure in his lap. “Bakugo and Mirio will be here soon, anyways.”

Unlike Amajiki-senpai, Kirishima tore into the wrapping paper, but he did think the gold-colored paper and indigo ribbon tied into a bow around the box were very cute and extremely on brand for Tamaki.

And once he saw what was inside the wrapping paper, Kirishima got even more excited.

“Kirishima-kun?”

The redhead’s head snapped up. “Yeah?”

“Is… Is the gift okay?” Tamaki asked, a nervous tone in his voice. “You just got really quiet for a few moments…”

“Okay?!” Kirishima parroted. “Amajiki-senpai, this is perfect! I love it so much!”

“Really? You do?”

“Yeah!” Kirishima laughed, “I was planning on getting this Suneater figure for myself, eventually. I found it while I was shopping for you.”

“That’s what Bakugo said to me,” Amajiki told him. “He texted me a few weeks ago a picture of that figure and said that’s what I should get you.”

“I promise he doesn’t mean it if he said anything threatening to you.”

Before his senpai and boyfriend meet formally, meaning after Bakugo had used his quirk on poor Tamaki’s face screaming “die!” during their training exercise, Kirishima had been very clear that Bakugo needed to be gentle with Amajiki.

Please don’t give him a nickname like you did for me, Kirishima had said. He won’t think it’s funny like I do.

Bakugo had kept his word, but he did end up calling Toogata-san “Weird Eyes” after he met him formally as well.

Luckily, Mirio had laughed it off. Kirishima figured he was still calling Bakugo “Problem Child Number Two” because of that.

“He was nice to me,” Tamaki said, pulling his cardigan sleeves over his hands. “He cares for you a lot, Kirishima-kun. It was cute, actually.”

“Yeah, he’s a big softie.” Kirishima said with a very fond tone of voice. “All bark and no bite. I think he’s a bit like a pomeranian.”

That got a soft laugh out of Tamaki. “His fluffy hair adds to that.”

Kirishima laughed loudly, echoing off the walls of the locker room. “You’re so right! It totally does!”

“But please don’t tell him I said that.”

“Don’t worry, senpai!” The redhead assured him. “Your secret is safe with me.”

“Thanks, Kirishima-kun.”

“You know,” Kirishima said thoughtfully. “It’s kinda funny that Katsuki helped you shop for me, because Toogata helped me pick something out for you too!”

“Really?”

The redhead nodded. “Yeah! He was super helpful since he knows everything about you.”

“Mirio’s always been good at gift giving, ever since we were kids.” Amajiki-senpai’s eyes were sparkling, like they always did when he talked about his boyfriend. “I’m glad you two have become friends too.”

“We have some pretty great boyfriends, don’t we, senpai?”

“Yeah,” the indigo haired boy smiled. “We really do.”

In the pocket of his black jeans, Kirishima’s phone buzzed.

“It looks like they made it to the agency too,” Kirishima said, eyes trained on his phone screen. “Katsuki says that ‘Weird Eyes’ is here too.”

The older boy sighed. “Is he always going to call Mirio that?”

“Probably!” Kirishima put his phone back into his pocket. “Are you ready to go? Oh, hey! We could go get dinner together! You two have some time before you go to Aizawa-sensei’s house to watch Eri, don’t you?”

“Like a double date?” Amajiki asked. “Sure, but I don’t think Bakugo likes me very much though…”

“You mean because of the training exercise we did with you and Hadou-san?” Kirishima shook his head. “Nah, he didn’t mean anything by it, I promise. Really, he’s a big softie!”

“...Okay then.”

“Really?”

“Yeah,” Amajiki slung his bag over his shoulder, and his little smile was back. “It sounds fun, Mirio will think so too.”

“Awesome!” Kirishima cheered, making his senpai laugh softly again. “I’ll make sure Katsuki behaves.”

“You do seem to be the only one he listens to…” Amajiki agreed, holding open the door of the locker room and gesturing for the redhead to go before him.

“He listens to All Might too,” Kirishima said.

Much to his surprise, Amajiki-senpai let out a snort. He really liked hearing his senpai laugh! “I don’t know if that counts, since everyone listens to him.”

The redhead laughed. “I guess you’re right!”

Fatgum waved to them from his office as they passed the open door.

“Bye boys! See you next year!”

Merry Christmas, Fatgum!” Kirishima called back cheerily as they stepped into the front of the agency.

“Tamaki!”

Toogata-san jumped up from his seat and practically ran at Amajiki, picking him up off the ground in a tight hug and twirling him around.

“It’s about fuckin’ time,” Bakugo grunted. “You don’t even wear a shirt when you go on patrol. What took you so long?”

“Hello to you too, Kats,” Kirishima pressed a kiss to Bakugo’s cheek. “We were exchanging our Christmas gifts. See?”

He held up the Suneater figure. “Amajiki-senpai told me you helped him pick it out.” Kirishima whispered. “Thank you, baby.”

Bakugo blushed and looked away. “Whatever.”

“You're so cute ,” Kirishima chuckled, before turning back to the older boys. “You two ready to go?”

Amajiki nodded.

Toogata-san tilted his head to the side. “Where are we going?”

“We’re going on a double date!” Kirishima jumped up. “Amajiki-senpai and I think it would be fun!”

“So fun!” said the cheerful blonde boy as he grabbed Tamaki’s hand and pulled him close. “I’m in!”

“I don’t remember agreeing to this,” Bakugo said.

“Come on, Katsuki!” Kirishima grabbed his hands and pulled him up from the squishy couch. “It’ll be really fun ~”

“Yeah, Problem Child Number Two,” Toogata added, with an equally wide grin on his face. “Let’s go have some Christmas time fun!”

Kirishima held Bakugo’s hands tightly in his own. “Please, baby?”

Bakugo rolled his eyes (but the redhead could see him fighting a smile).

“Fine.”

Toogata cheered, making Amajiki laugh again.

“You’re the best boyfriend ever!” Kirishima kissed his cheek again.

“You are,” Bakugo muttered under his breath, but Kirishima heard him.

“Sorry, you two,” Toogata said, going to open the front door of the agency. “But the title of Best Boyfriend belongs to Tamaki.”

Said boy buried his blushing face in his free hand. “Mirio.”

“Bullshit,” Bakugo scoffed.

“You wanna debate me on this, Problem Child Number Two?” Toogata’s wide grin hadn’t left his face. “Because I can and will talk endlessly about Tamaki Amajiki.”

“You’re on, Weird Eyes.”

Amajiki sighed and glanced over to Kirishima. “There’s no stopping them now, is there?”

Kirishima just laughed. “I don’t think so.”

The older boy just sighed again, but there was a fondness to it.

The up and coming heroes left Fatgum’s agency as a group, ready for their evening together, and Kirishima had the hope in his heart that this double date would be the first of many.
