The night was quiet.
Christmas lights shone like small stars on the tree in the red-walled greenroom, reflections bouncing off the glass and creating a cozy lighting in the otherwise darkened room.
Nearby on the sofa sat Freddy, his legs stretched out across the cushions as he propped his lower back up on the arm of it.
In his arms was Gregory, his Superstar. The one who had become his cub over the last few months of him being here.
They had both been in a comfortable silence, watching the Christmas lights while lost in thought about the day's events, when Gregory shifted with a soft sigh.
Freddy's ears perked up at the sound, wiggling slightly as he tilted his head down to look at the boy. "Are you alright, Gregory?" He asked, deep rumbly voice soft in the quiet.
Gregory huffed a soft laugh and nodded, squeezing one of the bear's forearms in a hug as he curled further into his embrace. "Yeah, Dad... just comfy."
"Oh." He murmured, leaning his head down to rest his chin on his boy's mop of hair. "Thinking about today, are you?"
Gregory hummed with a slow nod, eyes drooping slightly. "Auntie Chica's cookies are the best..."
Freddy chuckled softly in amusement, stroking his son's hair with an oversized paw, claws lightly scratching his scalp. "I would not know since I cannot eat them, but based on smell alone, I agree with you."
The boy giggled sleepily and held his arm tighter. "You're missin' out."
"I am sure I am." He agreed, smiling. "Although..." He paused and ruffled his hair gently. "It is a lot more convenient to not be hungry and have to eat."
Gregory giggled again, this time a little more awake, and lazily swatted the offending paw away. "Yeah yeah, you're lucky! But that also means not being able to eat good food!"
"Well..." Freddy grinned like he was up to something and pulled the boy up to be more eye level with him, getting a furrowed brow of question. "Maybe I should save myself the trouble and just eat you, then!"
Gregory's eyes widened in mock horror, a louder-than-intended squeak escaping him as the bear suddenly started nibbling at his stomach with exaggerated "om nom nom nom" noises!
He tried to hold back his laughter, but couldn't as he shrieked and kicked to get away from the playful attack. "Dahahad!"
The bear laughed and blew a raspberry on his shirt, getting an even louder shriek of laughter in response.
Gregory kicked his shoulderpad with his socked foot, trying in vain to push the infinitely stronger bear away.
Freddy chuckled as he stopped his attack and pulled away, grinning widely as his boy melted into a fit of breathless giggles.
"N- no fair!" Gregory giggled, crossing his arms with an attempted pout through a smile.
"I think it is fair, since you are too cute to resist eating up!" He teased, skittering his fingers across the boy's stomach for a second.
He immediately covered it and pushed his paws away with another giggle. "No! No more tickles!"
"Alright, alright." The bear chuckled in amusement, letting his son take his paw and hold it in his tiny hands. "Done with tickles tonight."
Gregory's giggles faded into the night, eyes becoming heavy as exhaustion set in again.
Freddy noticed and tucked him close once more, shifting the child to be cradled in his arms like a mere babe. "Alright, Cub, time for bed." He murmured, beginning to rock back and forth absently. "More fun tomorrow."
"Mhmm..." Gregory hummed drowsily, still holding one of his huge fingers in his hand even as his eyes drifted shut.
A minute of silence passed, and Freddy thought for a moment that his boy was asleep.
But a soft, small sleepy voice proved him wrong.
"Papa...?"
"Yes, Sweetie?"
"Can I hav' s- sto- ry?" Gregory slurred around a wide yawn.
Freddy smiled warmly and gave his hand a gentle squeeze with his fingers. "Of course, my boy."
He smiled as the bear held him closer, deep voice rumbling soothingly against his ear as the animatronic began weaving a tale of Christmas magic in the air.
"There once was a little reindeer named Snowory." Freddy began, rocking his boy gently as he reached up to boop his nose, earning a sleepy smile in return. "He was the smallest reindeer in the meadow, but also the most clever..."
"...And that is how Christmas was saved." Freddy whispered as the story reached it's end, Gregory limp in his arms as he snuggled him close. "Thanks to that little reindeer in the sky, who knew the true magic of Christmas... the end."
Gregory shifted, cheek comically squished against his dad's chest, hugging one of the orange arms wrapped around him. "Mm, I like tha' story..."
The bear smiled warmly and pressed his muzzle to his temple. "I am glad."
He mumbled, curling up against his warmth as his facial features relaxed. "Lo' you, Papa..."
"I love you too, my little Superstar..." He whispered, tucking some of his son's hair behind his ear with a tender claw.
Gregory's breathing evened out, and soon a peaceful sleep began to claim him.
"Goodnight, my little reindeer..." Freddy whispered softly to him, rocking him sweetly, one paw still gently stroking his hair. "Dream of snowy meadows and playful forest friends... and delicious cookies."
Gregory faintly mumbled something incoherent, the last of his awareness fading as he fell into a deep sleep, snoring softly as he remained in his papa's warm arms.
Freddy kissed the top of his head softly, before resting his chin in his boy's hair with a soft, contented sigh as he gazed at the still lit-up tree.
All was well and warm.
The end.
