Unwrapping Eve
Laughter echoed in the apartment building as the soft hum of Christmas music played in the background. The night was as young as their souls pure. Inside the rooms were lightly lit, with small decorations of candy cane’s, wreaths, and ornaments. Freshly opened boxes lay littered around the room telling a tell tale story of their rushed decorating. A small christmas tree sits in the corner of the room with a few presents beneath it. The kitchen was bright with joy. Three men stood with a recipe in hand and a bowl in the other. They were holding a baking contest, and all felt a smidge bit competitive.
Kim Rok Soo was reading through the recipe and looking for the items he would need. Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo were fighting over who would turn out best. Then in sync the race started. Kim Roksu was making a recipe he remembered when he was going through some books, it was chocolate cookie melts. A cookie with a gooey chocolate interior, small details outlining the top of the cookie would decorate it elegantly.
The other two also mentioned making some kind of dessert. As they rushed around the kitchen, flour and sugar was fought over. Their competitive nature brought the show to disaster when Choi Jung Soo stole it from Soo Hyuk. And exploded everywhere. The counters, floor, sink, and each other. The white powder lined their faces and clothes in disarray, almost looking like snowmen. With that the competition went to tatters. Jung Soo laughed as the powder outlined all of their faces, as well as the kitchen.
“Pfft– Rok Soo! Your face…” Jung Soo broke out in laughter as a blank stare met his face. The flour had gotten on him just as much as the other two.
*TANGGGG!!*
He was met with a bowl of sugar. Rok Soo walked away only to be met with a gooey liquid that could only be described as eggs. Wiping the disgusting liquid off his face he slapped what he could onto his attacker. Screams of chaos embodied the apartment, as ingredients were sent flying. Spoons and spatulas deflected by bowls and cookie tray’s. The chaos came to an end quickly as they all ran out of things to throw. It was a mess. And Jung Soo cracked first followed by Soo Hyuk.
“BAHAHAHHAHAH!!”
“DID YOU SEE THE WAY–”
“AND HOW—”
“WHY DID YOU THROW THE PAN AT ME–!!”
That was how Jung Soo and Soo Hyuk cleaned things up. All while Kim Rok Soo made his cookies. Things calmed down after everything was cleaned up and the cookies were done. They sat on the floor as they munched on the cookies. Still covered in their mess from earlier.
Choi Jung Soo had looked over at his dongsaeng, “Hey Rok Soo, if we were ordinary people in a world without monsters, do you think we would’ve met?” The question stunned them into silence.
“I’m sure Lee Soo Hyuk would drag us to meet once again.” His nonchalant answer seemed to warm the duo as they chuckled and tackled their proclaimed dongsaeng. Laughter once again broke out as Kim Rok Soo was tickled to death. The holiday cheer warming them all up.
“Alright– hehe–!” He was broken by small fits of laughter, “You can stop now!” The other two finally let up.
“Hyung, let's open each other's presents now!” They settled down around the Christmas tree, and passed each other their gifts; each having two. “Rok Soo you go first!” Choi Jung Soo shoved his present into his hands. It was a large red bag with sparkly snowflakes decorating the side.
“Heavy.”
“Of course you say it’s heavy. You should really get some muscles like your hyungs!” He flexed and Soo Hyuk joined him. Ignoring the two he started opening the bag. He carefully took out the tissue paper, the first thing he got was a pen with his name engraved in it. Digging further into the bag he found some weights. Deadpanning he stared at Jung Soo, “I’ll help you out.” A smirk had risen on his face as he looked at Rok Soo, “Let's start with… 500 pushups!”
*GASP*
He incredulously asked, “Are you insane? I’ll die.”
“Tsk. tsk. Rok Soo, that's not how you treat your hyung-nims.” The oldest of the trio shook his head while clicking his tongue. “Now finish opening up the gifts we thought so much about.” Sighing he could only look away and continue going through the bag. The last item was a book. Filled with pictures and memories.
A small smile made its way onto his face, “Thank you… Jung Soo.”
*SNAP*
“You got that Soo Hyuk?”
“I did,” Soo Hyuk had snapped a picture while their youngest smiled. “Now dongsaeng why don’t you open my gift?” Rok Soo grabbed the box beside him, fancy in no way besides the red bow on top. It wasn’t necessarily large either around the size of a shoe box. Taking the lid off his eyes widened. “It’s the latest edition ipad. This hyung had a few connections and managed to get it for your data collections.” He took the device out of the box and inspected the features on the paper.
“I’ll definitely use it.” He nodded appreciating the thoughts behind both their gifts. “Open my gifts now.” The two nodded and tore the wrapping paper off their gifts, Lee Soo Hyuk got a bunch of movies as well as a photo of when he was a trainee.
“Rok Soo… Thank you.” A warm smile was on their team leader's face, a smile that reflected their past.
Jungsoo took his own present out of its paper, and marveled at the sight. “Hey, Kim Rok Soo this is mine right?” His eyes were sparkling as he took the present up. It was a card that enabled its owner to pick an item out of the highest level storage.
“Yes, I got one for you too Soo Hyuk, although it’s not to such a high level.” In an instant the two had hugged him. “Ugh— hyung– can’t–!”
*GASP*
“He called us hyung!” Tears were streaming down Jung Soo’s face as Soo Hyuk laughed at his energy. Said dongsaeng had a smile on his face before breaking out in laughter. The two sat in shock at him. The festive music seemed to brighten further, as they all soon joined in on the holiday fun.
“Thank you both. For saving me.”
