Work Text:
“Merry Christmas!” Ragatha cheered, heading into the main part of the tent.
There was a chorus of ‘merry Christmas ‘ back, Ragatha looked round at the newly decorated tent, seeing Pomni dressed as an elf, Gangle dressed as an angel, Zooble wearing the bear minimum of a Santa hat, Kinger in a proper Santa costume (even though he didn't seem to notice). She herself was wearing a Christmas tree themed dress.
“Where's Jax?” She asked, he never liked participating in festive things, but she had thought he would have at least showed up.
They all shrugged, Ragatha was worried.
“I'm going to go look for him…”
Ragatha walked down the hall to Jax's room, she knocked gently and heard a muffled: “go away”
“Jax I'm coming in.”
“No.” this was still muffled, what on earth was Jax doing?
She opened the door and burst out laughing, Jax was laying on the floor, dressed as an elf, tangled up in wrapping paper and tape.
“What did you do!” Ragatha exclaimed through the laughter.
She could see why he was muffled now, there was a big bit of wrapping paper stuck in front of his mouth.
“Go away! I know what I'm doing!”
“You clearly don't if you've managed to do this, can you even move?”
“Yes?”
Ragatha went over to untangle him, he looked very annoyed at her, which was confusing, she was helping him after all.
“You can't be in here! You'll see your present!”
She then stood up and started looking around for what could be her present, leaving the now only half tangled Jax to struggle on the floor to try and stop her.
“Raggy! Stop! You're not supposed to see it until we unwrap all the presents!”
She picked up a small horse plushie, and by the looks on Jax's face, she could tell that she had found it.
“Thank you Jax!”
“Finish untangling me!”
“Ok fine”
She finished untangling him and then started wrapping up the other objects lying on the floor.
“Rags, that's my job.”
“Well you clearly don't know how to do it.”
A while later they went down to the main area and put the, now neatly wrapped presents, under the tree.
“There is no way you wrapped those Jax.” Zooble said as they placed the final one.
“And how do you know that?” Jax retorted.
“Because you have wrapping paper on your ears. And we all know you're completely incompetent at wrapping things.”
Jax felt his ears and started pulling off small bits of paper.
“Ragatha you said you'd gotten all of it!”
“I thought I had!”
This is how most Christmases went in the digital circus, arguing and chaos, but they loved it. They all knew Jax couldn't wrap a present to save his life, that Ragatha could never just chose one thing to give someone, that Kinger could never remember that he was supposed to get people something, that Zooble always ‘forgot’ that they had to dress up, and that Gangle always dropped the star trying to put it on the top of the tree. But they also always had fun.
“Awww thanks Jax! I totally didn't know what it was beforehand!” Said Ragatha, unwrapping her present from Jax.
“I have another one for you!” He said, pulling a centipede out of his overalls pocket. Ragatha screamed and jumped backwards, and Jax just laughed.
Once they had finished with the presents they went outside to have a snowball fight. As much as they couldn't spend Christmas with they're real families, and probably would never be able to, they could still spend Christmas with their new family, and yes it was a weird one, and no they didn't always get along, but they care about each other, and that's what matters.
“Merry Christmas everyone.” Said Ragatha.
“Merry Christmas.” They all responded. Right as Jax hit Ragatha in the face with a snowball.
“JAX THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A NICE MOMENT!” she shouted, standing back up.
“Don't try and have nice moments during a snowball fight!” He shouted back.
Eventually Ragatha got her revenge with a snowball to Jax's face and Zooble managed to get Jax ‘round the back of the head twice.
“And to all you viewers reading this fanfiction, merry Christmas!”
“Jax will you stop doing that. No one's there.” Zooble was not impressed.
“Why Would you think I'd stop?.” he laughed.
Merry Christmas!
