Tick… Tock… Tick… Tock…
Riddle stared across the table at Chenya, who had somehow managed to find a way to lay comfortably upside down in an armchair. It had been a few minutes since Chenya had done anything, and Riddle was getting annoyed.
“You know it is your turn, right?” Riddle asked while Chenya stared down at the chessboard.
“You didn’t say we were playing speed chess.” The beastman purred out, not even caring that Riddle was waiting.
“It’s not– I need the practice, and even Leona doesn’t take this long.” Riddle grumbled. Trey, who had been sitting nearby reading a book, let out his own laugh at Riddle’s annoyance.
“You’re the one who challenged Chenya.” Trey said as he glanced up from his book. “This is your mistake.”
“It’s not a mistake…” Chenya frowned over at Trey, still upside down in the chair. Slowly the cat beastman reached forward and finally moved forward one of the knights. With that, Riddle leaned forward again, focusing on his pieces.
TIck… Tock… Tick… Tock…
“You know it’s your turn, right?” Chenya asked, a smirk on his face. Riddle grumbled as he leaned forward, staring at the board.
“You took ten minutes, it hasn’t even been two for me.” He said, his focus still on the pieces before him. He reached forward and put his hand on one of his pawns, only to stop, calculate, again.
If I move this pawn, Chenya might move his more aggressively. He doesn’t have a strong control of the center, and–
“Nya~ I’m booooored~” Riddle suddenly felt the breath on his ear, which caused him to jump back and look over. He wasn’t fast enough to see the form of Chenya as the beastman teleported back to the opposing chair.
“...That’s cheating.” Riddle said with a glare at the beastman.
“All’s fair in love and war, Riddle.” Trey spoke up again. Riddle’s glare shifted from his feline boyfriend to the human boyfriend in question.
“I’m sorry, both of you were encouraging me to get out more and be friendly with the other students.” Riddle explained. “And this attempt at distracting me when I’m training to play Leona is simply untoward!”
“But when we wanted you to do that we didn’t think you’d be so boring about it!” Chenya whined as he shifted to sit up in his chair.
“Yeah, this is just so booooring!” Chenya added from Riddle’s side, as he suddenly disappeared and reappeared sitting on the arm of Riddle’s chair. Slowly the feline fell back and sat in Riddle’s lap, his body splayed from arm to arm like a fainting damsel.
“Riddle, my love, I may die of boredom if I have to train you anymore!” He continued to beg and clung around Riddle’s neck.
“You were barely training me as is.” Riddle grumbled as he looked down at his boyfriend. “I’ll never be a fair match for Leona at this rate.”
“The only person you’re allowed to be a fair match with is me.” Chenya leaned in and gave Riddle a kiss, not getting one in return out of annoyance.
Ahem!
“And Trey, of course. I wouldn’t want to forget you.” The cat gave Trey a wink.
“If you really think you’re a match…” Riddle grumbled, before he moved with a sudden strength. His small size pushed forward and Chenya found himself lying down on the table. His shoulders scatted the chess pieces about, and Riddle was on top of him, pinning him down as his legs and arms awkwardly hung off the edge of this smaller table.
“...You just ruined the board…” Chenya gasped as he looked up at Riddle, the redhead having mounted him, legs on either side of his hips.
“I don’t think I care anymore. I can loosen up, or I can tighten the reins… And I think I should take control now…” Riddle growled. His hand went to Chenya’s chest and growled his annoyance.
“...And you can’t even wear your uniform to give me something to grab like a tie or–”
“Flip him upside down and you can grab him by the tail.” Trey teased, only for Chenya to look over at him in shock.
“Traitor!”
“No, that’s too much work.” Riddle bent down and put his face near Chenya’s. “I think I just want sit on top of you and–”
“Are we interruptin’ somethin’?”
The deep voice cut through the room, and slowly Riddle, Trey and Chenya all looked up.
Standing in the doorway was Leona Kingscholar, and behind him stood the forms of Ace, Deuce and Jack Howl.
“...I was…” Riddle sat up, still straddling Chenya but not saying anything. “We were just practicing chess.”
“If that’s how you play chess, I think I’ll stick with my boyfriend…” Leona chuckled and leaned against the doorframe. Riddle proceeded to remove himself from Chenya, took a moment to adjust his ribbon tie, and stood tall as he addressed Leona.
“Did you need something, Kingscholar?”
“Yeah, Jack has a project for his classes and wants Ace and Deuce’s help. I was gonna come ask to get these two outta chore duty and see if I can maybe get in a game of chess, but…”
“That’s quite alright.” Riddle said. “I can cover their duties today at least. I wouldn’t want them getting behind in their classes.” He was the epitome of composure and decorum, almost as though he hadn’t been caught about to make out with one of his boyfriends.
“...Good.” Ace said from behind Leona. “We’re just gonna… Go…”
“Be back before lights out!” Riddle shouted as the first year students absconded down the hallway. This left Riddle staring at Leona, who smugly smirked as he leaned against the doorframe.
“...Do you need anything else, Kingscholar?” Riddle asked and looked up at Leona. Leona shook his head.
“Nah, that was it really.” Leona answered.
“Good. Now leave me alone to make out with my boyfriends.” Riddle said before slamming the door shut on Leona’s face.
He turned back around and looked at the still shocked Chenya and Trey.
“So, where were we?”
