Chapter Text
The first Christmas SG-1 spent together was off-world. Specifically, P3X-MAS.
“Anyone else seeing this or…?” Daniel trailed off, squinting at the sky.
Jack looked up. Large chunks of ice were tumbling down like frozen meteors. “No, Daniel, you’re not crazy. Not yet. Alright, kids—pack it up. Let’s find a cave before we’re toast… actually we’d be popsicles in this case but you get the point.”
“Yes, Sir.”
“Indeed.”
Carter and Teal’c responded.
It didn’t take long to relocate. Daniel had spotted a cave earlier, and within minutes they had everything set up: sleeping bags rolled out, a small fire crackling in the corner, and MREs heating in their pouches.
The silence was companionable as they ate, broken only by Daniel’s complaining. “This tastes like mold.”
Jack smirked, stirring his own MRE. He couldn’t argue—it did. But there were no fights, no drama. This team worked together like they’d been made for each other. Jack felt a little bit of pride.
“I brought cookies,” Captain Carter said suddenly.
Jack blinked. “Excuse me?”
“You did?” Daniel perked up, Teal’c inclining his head in quiet approval.
Carter rummaged through her pack, pulling out a small tin. When she opened it, the smell of sugar and butter filled the cave. It was warm and out of place on the icy planet.
“Captain, you didn’t have to,” Jack said, awkward but sincere.
“It’s Christmas, Colonel. Of course I did.” She smiled—really smiled—and Jack had to remind himself to breathe.
“Thanks, Sam,” Daniel said, snatching a cookie.
Carter handed one to Teal’c, then took one for herself before passing the tin to Jack.
Inside were two cookies.
Jack raised an eyebrow at her, but Carter only shrugged, biting into her cookie with a wink.
She— She just winked.
Jack couldn’t help but grin. Taking one, he leaned back against the cave wall. “Carter, were you a teacher’s pet by any chance?”
