Late Night In

Summary:

Viktor stays too late in his office and becomes late for a date...it was probably a good thing that his date had the same idea.

Self indulgent AU one shot where Jayvik are married and are professors. This isn't good, just wanted to get back into writing... it's been a while 🤞🏻

Notes:

Declaimer: no beta, idek if this is coherent, I'm writing this very late at night while on cough drugs.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Viktor is a professor of biology in Piltover Academy, he loved his job, he really did, he loved teaching about life and all its potential to (mostly) eager students, but one thing he disliked most about his job is that sometimes there were nights where he would stay in the academy way too late, getting lost in the stacks of papers that never seemed to go down in his office, that's how he ended hobbling down the dimly lit hallways, hoping his partner wouldn't hate him for being late.

He looked down on his watch and sighed, he was definitely very late.

On his way however, he found a familiar office door ajar, light peeking through and the faintest sound of music escaping out to the hallway. He slowly approached and perked through, before chuckling and getting in, making sure the door closes silently behind him. He walked towards the man, who was asleep on his desk, a screwdriver still in hand. Viktor leaned against the desk, smiling at the endearing sight in front of him.

He nudged the man's foot with his cane, his smirk widening as Jayce stays awake.

"... Viktor?"

"Long night huh?" He chuckles slightly.

"Yeah... Oh no, I fell asleep didn't I? Were you waiting for me? I swear I didn't mean to fall asleep, let me just..." He stands quickly, the chair scraping the floor, but Viktor points his cane on his chest, making sure he stays in place.

"It's okay, it seems we both had the same idea, I just finished work as well, I was on my way actually."

"Oh thank god." Viktor raises a brow and Jayce quickly backtracks. "Not that it's a good thing, I know we've both been looking forward to this...but you know." He shrugs.

"I suppose it's good that no one got stood up this time."

"That was one time." Jayce mumbles, and they both laugh. "C'mere." Viktor moves closer and smiles when Jayce wraps his arms around his waist. "I missed you."

"Hm, missed you too darling."

"Sorry we couldn't go to our date... I know how much you were looking forward to it."

"Meh, they'll be other opportunities." Viktor shrugs and smiles down at Jayce, his fingers combing through his locks. "What are you working on anyway?" He looks to the side and looks at the contraption on Jayce's desk.

Jayce shrugged, and pulled Viktor down to his lap, before hooking his chin on his shoulder. "Just an idea I've been toying with... It's just, today during the lecture a student of mine brought up an interesting point, made me rethink the formula that's all."

"Your students are brilliant."

Jayce chuckled. "Yeah... Pain in the ass sometimes though, gets in trouble sometimes, makes silly things to prank people, mostly me."

"Sounds like someone I know." Viktor teases.

"Hush you." He said before sighing and burying his face on Viktor's neck. "Anyway... We should really try to go home in a decent hour."

"Agreed." Viktor nodded. "This isn't good practice when we decide to have children." He joked.

"What?" Jayce quickly turned to him. "You- you want that?"

"Kids?" Jayce nods slowly, still shocked. "Yes, I thought that was apparent, we've talked about this Jayce, I wouldn't have married you if we disagreed in this subjet."

"No, no it's not that ... It's just I'm shocked when you mention things like that, a life like that... it makes me stupidly happy." He grins.

"Good, that's all I want." He whispers. "To make you stupidly happy."

"Well Doctor Viktor Talis, you succeeded with flying colors." They stay there for a moment, staring into eachothers eyes . "Cmon, let's go home."

"Hm, yes, lets." They stand up and Jayce packs his things, before leaving the room hand in hand.

"Hey V,"

"Hm?"

"When we have a kid, can we name it Jaybe?"

"... Jaybe not."

Jayce throws his head back laughing, while pulling his husband closer. "I love you." He says as he laughs.

"Love you too." Viktor says with a smile, amused at Jayce's mirth. The date can wait, this, being here with his husband was more than enough

Notes:

In my world and hc Viktor would totally be a Biology professor and Jayce would be a physics or mechanical engineering professor...either way, STEM husbands frfr 🫶
