Chapter Text
Kim Seokjin was living quite an ordinary life. He was in college, his major was cooking which he enjoyed ever since he was a kid, helping his mother prepare various pastries for the Sunday family lunch. His dream was to open a pastry shop in Hongdae. That is why he worked hard to achieve amazing grades so that he would graduate with high gpa and have a better chance of finding a high-paid job and quickly earn a lot of money to realize his long-time dream.
He was enrolled in Hongik University and he was supposed to graduate this year if all goes well. But, the year had just started so he still had a long way to go. Although Hongik University was famous for the best architecture and art program in Seoul, they also offered a great cooking program and that was the main reason Seokjin left his hometown Gwacheon despite his mother being heartbroken since they really had a strong bond, but she supported her son in his dream.
When Seokjin first came to Seoul and the University, he was afraid how he was going to fit in. Everything was new to him and he was an awkward person, so he wondered if he was even going to have friends. However, that worry lasted for a really short while ,to be precise for about few hours since he came to Seoul, and it stopped the moment he entered his new dorm room and met his roommate. Well if “ meet” is the right word to describe their first encounter. The right word would be “ Seokjin questioning his life choices and wanting to run away to Gwacheon” when he entered the silent dorm room and heard high-pitched screaming from the bathroom.
His heart almost jumped out of his chest and he felt the urge to run away from the dorm, which he should have done now that he thinks back on that event, because it sure would have made his life much easier, but unfortunately Seokjin was a kind person so he faced his fears and ran to the bathroom, where the screaming was coming from.
Nothing in his 23 years of life could have prepared him for the sight in front of him. The whole bathroom was flooded and there, standing on the toilet seat was a skinny boy with black wet hair, sticking to his face full of disgust and fear, holding a tennis racket in his hands, surprisingly still screaming. How could someone scream for so long, doesn’t he have to breath? thought Seokjin still staring at the boy in shock. Fearing that the boy would pass out from screaming for so long, Seokjin decided to stop him by asking:” Hey, hey calm down, what is wrong?”
The skinny boy finally turned to Seokjin, widening his eyes and thankfully stopping his screaming. He was looking at Seokjin as if Seokjin was some kind of saint or savior and he slowly said:” There is a snake in the bathtub.” “ I hate SNAKEU!!!” he yelled again in utter fear.
Seokjin flinched at the sudden scream and did get scared a bit when he heard that there was a snake in the bathtub, but then he started thinking rationally. Was it really possible for a snake to be in their dorm room on the 3rd floor? Especially since the University was located in the city, with no wilderness or nature surrounding them. However, just as a measure of precaution Seokjin took the mop that was standing near the bathroom door and slowly approached the bathtub. He took a deep breath and pulled the curtains and the boy behind him, still standing on the toilet seat, let out such a loud shriek that Seokjin was sure deafened him for the rest of his life.
He saw the snake and took her in his hands, chuckling a bit and turning to the screaming boy, saying:” Hey no worries, it is just a rubber snake.”
The boy stopped screaming, and confusion was obvious on his face, but then he widened his eyes in realization and his face turned red from anger as he shouted:” PARK JIMIN YOU FUCKING JERK!!!!!!!!!”
When the whole “snake incident” was over, the skinny boy which was now flashing Seokjin one of the brightest smiles ever, introduced himself as Hoseok, saying how he is his new roommate and explained to him that the goddamned-lousy-jerk-Jimin as Hoseok stated was one of his best friends from the dance academy that they both attended before enrolling in this University together. Now, Hoseok chose architecture as his major and Jimin decided to pursue dancing which was also offered as one of the majors on the University. Hoseok explained that they liked to pull pranks like this on each other often and that Jimin is going to pay for this.
Thankfully Hoseok was really friendly, maybe too friendly for Seokjin’s taste since he immediately told Seokjin to call him Hobi like all of his friends did and he added that Seokjin sounds too formal now that they are friends and that he will call him Jin instead. Jin wanted to tell him that they weren’t really friends since they just met and were just sharing a room together, however Hoseok’s smile was as bright as a sunshine so Jin really didn’t have the heart to tell him that. In the end Hobi became not only Jin’s roommate, but also one of his best friends and Jin was really grateful for that, because he was certain that his life at the University would have been boring without Hobi even though sometimes he just wanted Hobi to shut up, but oh well you can’t have it all thought Jin as he walked through the park.
It was 1 a.m. and Jin was coming back to his dorm from a friend’s party. The park he was walking through to get to the campus was really dark and just a few dim lights traced the path. He wasn’t a scaredy-cat, that was more of Hoseok’s thing, however Hoseok kept telling him that he was too pretty for his own good, which Jin already knew I mean he had a mirror duh, but Hobi kept saying how he shouldn’t walk alone late at night, because someone could take advantage of him.
“Pft.” huffed Jin thinking how sure he did look beautiful, especially today when his short auburn hair was all messy from the party and his liner a bit smudged making him look really delectable, and okay yeah his ass sure did look good in those black skinny jeans he was wearing, but it’s not like he couldn’t defend himself. He had wide shoulders, and he went to the gym every week so it’s all good.
However, he did get a bit anxious, when he heard someone’s footsteps behind him. He didn’t want to turn around, so that he wouldn’t seemed scared. He kept walking, quickening his pace a bit, however the person was still walking behind him. From the corner of his eye he could see that the person behind him was taller than him, muscular and holding something in his hand. OMFG thought Jin, what if it is a knife?! He started rushing forward, when suddenly the tall man behind him also started rushing and in the next moment he heard a deep, raspy voice behind him say:” Hey,wait up…You…” however Jin didn’t let the guy the chance to finish as he turned around thinking how this was his only chance of getting out of this mess, swinging his fist as hard as he could, punching the guy in the face.
He was just about to run away from the stalker, when he heard a voice that he was sure he had heard somewhere before. The guy was lying on the ground, getting up into the sitting position, with his hand over his left eye, letting out a loud grunt and saying through gritted teeth:” WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!”
In that moment Jin realized who that voice belonged to. He also recognized the tall, muscular figure with short bleached hair pushed back. It was Kim Namjoon from his literature class. The hot rapper that caught Jin’s attention in the third year when Jin realized they were in the same class and the same rapper that Jin had the tendency to stare at a bit longer then needed. They never spoke, maybe because Jin was too much of a chicken to start a conversation and also Namjoon didn’t seem to pay attention to him.
Well great Jin, now you left a perfect first impression on him by punching him in the face.
Fuck my life thought Jin while mentally facepalming himself.
