Work Text:
Cold air nipped painfully, Teru blew onto his hands in an attempt to warm them. It got tiresome staying out late exorcising supernaturals, he just wanted to go home to Kou and Tiara.
His sister was probably deep asleep, children needed lots of rest after all. The first thing he would do when he got home was take a steamy bath. It would wash the night's filth off him.
*sniffle*
What...?
*hic*
Where was that coming from? Turning a corner, Teru headed towards the whimpering noises. Eyes widening, he took in the sight before him.
Nestled in an alley was a boy, cotton candy colored pink hair, ruby eyes, and blood smeared across his quivering lips. Dried blood caked underneath his fingernails, hot fat tears rolling down his pale cheeks. Something oozed from his leg, the whole scene looked like something out of a horror movie. What a pitiful creature.
Oh wait.
He knew that creature.
Reaching out a hand, he attempted to gesture to the sobbing boy. Glaring harshly through clenched teeth, the supernatural swatted away the hand. "Leave me alone..." Sighing, Teru bit his lip.
"I won't exorcise you..."
"...."
"I don't trust you." Mitsuba murmured.
Setting down his sword with a clang, he put his hands up. It would be a perfect opportunity to destroy Mitsuba, but somehow he felt somewhat sorry for this monster.
Choking back a few hot tears, the supernatural uncoiled a bit. "...." Teru softly placed a hand on his pink hair, damp from sweat and blood. "What are you doing out here...?"
"..."
"It's far away from the school..."
"..."
It was obvious he wasn't going to be able to squeeze any information out of Mitsuba. Exhaling deeply, he sat down next to the supernatural, the ground was filthy but he didn't mind much.
"Are you going to talk to me?"
"...."
Wiping his damp cheeks with a clawed hand, the boy looked up at him through dewy lashes.
".... hunting..."
"Hunting for what?"
"...."
Teru wasn't an idiot, he knew that Kou snuck off almost every night to feed his demon-like boyfriend. He could smell the stench of blood on his brother, no matter how hard he scrubbed. It was a scent Teru was well acquainted with after all.
It was apparent he was alone tonight, however.
As Teru examined further, Mitsuba was missing one of his calves and a chunk of his wrist. How could he have not noticed that? "Are you injured?" The blonde softly spoke.
"....yeah..."
Careless. Irresponsible. He needed to be more careful.
Wait...Why on earth would he give a shit about a supernatural's well being?! Grumbling, Teru stared at Mitsuba. "Do you need my help?" The supernatural scowled sourly.
"Fuck off."
"Why were you crying?"
"Fuck off!"
"Is it because of your leg?"
Smacking him with scarf like tendrils, Mitsuba angrily huffed, tears forming in the corners of his eyes. "Leave me alone you asshole!!"
"That hurt."
"FUCK OFF!!"
Electric blue eyes glared at the supernatural, causing him to shift uncomfortably. "Fine. I'll leave you be." Grabbing his sword, Teru attempted to stroll off, only to be forcefully jerked back.
"I changed my mind."
Ruby red eyes pleaded at him. "Please stay..." Clenching his jaw, Teru glanced down at Mitsuba. He appeared even more awful than he looked at first. "Can you walk?"
"...no..."
"Do you need help?"
".... maybe...."
***********
Well lovely, he wasn't just feeling pity for a filthy little supernatural, but full on carrying him to their house. This was ridiculous. Mitsuba was his brother's problem, not his. Maybe he was getting soft....
"You smell gross..."
"Don't sniff me then. You don't smell great yourself."
"You smell worse than Kou."
"I've been fighting all night."
"Take a shower or something. You smell like a dog."
The lack of respect Mitsuba had for him was getting on Teru's nerves. How could Kou feel attracted to this pest?! Even if he was human, Teru would stay far away from him.
Mitsuba dangled from Teru's back, purple-red blood oozing from his wounds. Dripping onto the sidewalk, it had same stench as the supernatural's he slayed every night...
"Where are you taking me?"
"To Kou. Your his problem, not mine."
"Kinda seems like I'm your issue right now..."
"How about we play the quiet game, okay?"
How annoying....
