the soft glow of the beautiful morning sun shone through the curtains of your shared apartment. the scent of freshly brewed tea came from the kitchen, gently pulling you from the comfort of your dreams. you stretched, blinking lazily, only to find the space beside you empty.
"caitlyn?" you murmured, your voice heavy with sleep.
the faint clinking of porcelain answered you. with a smile, you rolled out of bed and walked towards the kitchen. there she was, caitlyn kiramman, radiant even in the simplest moments. her usual pristine enforcer uniform was swapped for a cozy sweater, her dark hair pulled into a loose braid that cascaded down her shoulder.
“good morning, sleepyhead,” caitlyn greeted, her eyes crinkling at the corners as she turned toward you. in her hands was a tray carrying two cups of tea and a small plate of sweets.
“you should’ve woken me,” you replied, leaning against the doorway and admiring her.
“i thought you deserved to sleep in,” she said, setting the tray down on the table. “besides, i wanted to surprise you.”
you chuckled, crossing the room to meet her. “you spoil me.”
“and you deserve it,” caitlyn countered, her tone soft but resolute. she reached out, brushing a stray strand of hair from your face before cupping your cheek. her thumb traced gentle circles on your skin, and for a moment, the world outside seemed to fade away.
you leaned into her touch, your heart swelling with warmth. “i don’t know how i got so lucky with you.”
her lips curved into a small smile as she leaned down, pressing a feather-light kiss to your forehead. if anything, i’m the lucky one.”
the two of you settled at the table, sharing tea and laughter as the city outside slowly woke. it was a rare day off for caitlyn, and you intended to stay with her every second.
moments like this — simple, quiet, and full of love — were what you cherished most, and as caitlyn laced her fingers with yours across the table, you couldn’t help but think that this morning, like her, was perfect.
