The temperature was a balmy 5 degrees celsius. But even in her woolen Mahoutokoro-issued coat, Hibari felt today was much colder than that.
Standing behind a wall clutching at her love letter, she tried to stop the tears from forming.
And when she couldn't, she tried convincing herself she was crying tears of happiness.
For behind her, merely a few metres away was her childhood friend. Holding onto that cute exchange from Beauxbatons. The pureblood scion to the Flamel Family. Loudly and passionately making out with her.
And in Hibari's hearts of hearts she wished it was her. Her instead of Torte. Her on the receiving end. Her, who was now enveloped to Kagome's warmth.
But it wasn't her.
She was too late. And Torte beat her to the punch.
"I'm-I'm so happy for you Kagome." She told herself her cheeks wet and red.

It was a lie. A lie that crumbled as she fell to her knees.
It was Christmas Day at Mahoutokoro.
And Hibari was not feeling merry
