Chapter Text
Damon has probably combed through the entire apartment by now in search for batteries. Every drawer, nook and cranny looked over with no results. Well there’s one more place he hasn’t checked, Kai’s room. Thinking about it now, it would make sense for his gremlin roommate to hog them all, with all the lights and equipment he has. With a sigh, Damon made his way to the door, knocked twice and swiftly entered.
“Kai, do you have any.. oh.” The blond trailed off after realizing that Kai was streaming. He remembered that his roommate mentioned streaming today, yet it managed to slip form his mind during his search. “Nevermind.” Just as he was about to leave, Kai’s voice made him turn back around.
“Hey dude, wait! Do you want to introduce yourself to my fans?” His expression was eager, with an inviting smile and excited eyes. Damon raised one of his eyebrows. Does Kai really think he would be interested in that? He was fine with whatever Kai did as a job, but in his eyes, it was stupid. Why would anyone be entertained by a grown man spouting nonsense in front of a camera? The world worked in mysterious ways.
After a moment of staring blankly, he responded. “No, not really. Not at all.”
Upon hearing his unimpressed voice, Kai’s smile faltered. “Come on, man. Everybody wants to hear about this mysterious roommate i’ve been mentioning!” He turned to his camera with the big grin on his face returning. Was this guy being serious? “Why would you talk about me to your viewers?”
“Uh, no reason, really! I’m just giving life updates.” Whatever, it’s not like he’s gonna get those batteries any time soon. Damon quickly weighed his options and decided to entertain Kai’s request. Maybe, by some miracle he’ll find out why so many people find random strangers’ lives so entertaining.
“Fine, let’s get this over with.” With that he walked over to the desk, on the way over he snagged a chair to sit down. Not that he would ever admit this to anyone, but seeing Kai’s face light up at his agreement made him feel kind of excited to do this.
..Until he was in front of a camera and had exactly no idea on what to say. Helplessly he looked over at his roommate, who quickly noted the look of confusion on his face.
“Just introduce yourself! It’s simple, really. Just your name and what you like to do.” Seriously, how is this supposed to be interesting?
“Uh, my name is Damon, I live with this guy” He pointed towards Kai with his thumb. “I like reading and um, I don’t know. Can I be done now?” He looked over at Kai again and, judging by his delighted expression, he guessed he did well.
“Yes, perfect!” He faced the camera before continuing, “Everybody give a warm welcome to Damon!” with that, the blond placed the chair back in its place and left back into his own room.
That was certainly.. an experience. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know what the audience’s reaction to him was. Going by their love for the animated and bubbly man, paired with the rumors of their willingness to attack people on the internet; he was quite nervous.
Actually, why did he care about the opinion of random teens on the internet? It’s not like they have any impact on his life, except being die-hard fans of his roommate. Promptly, Damon decided to stop thinking about all of this, before his train of thought derailed into thinking about why he actually did care about Kai’s opinion of him.
Shit, he didn’t even get those batteries after all.
