Chapter Text
Andy was the one who found Nile crying on the bench in the rain.
"Kid?" Andy asked. "Is there something wrong?"
Nile shook her head and dried her eyes.
"No," Nile replied. "Allegies."
"I don't believe that," Andy replied. "So, let's try again. What's wrong?"
Nile buried her face in her hands before she cried again. Because Andy wasn't good at dealing with human emotions, she called the only ones she knew who were good at that, namely Nicky. It took less than five minutes before Nicky found them. While waiting for Nicky, Andy had bought an umbrella from a student who walked past them and was now holding it over Nile so she wouldn't get wetter than she already was.
"Glad to see you are trying to help," Nicky said. "I will tell Quynh that."
"Thanks," Andy replied. "What is your plan, Nicky?"
Nicky wrapped the blanket he had taken with him when he got the call about Nile.
"Getting Nile out of the rain and home to our place," Nicky replied. "Joe is waiting with towels and hot soup. You are also welcome."
"Thanks, but no thanks. Still not a fan of soup. Call me when Joe is serving a roast," Andy replied. "Sorry, it's not the right time to discuss cooking."
Nicky sat down next to Nile and placed an arm around Nile's shoulders to comfort her.
"When you are ready," Nicky said in a low voice. "Then we will leave."
Nile buried her face in Nicky's shoulder while crying. Nicky appreciated that Andy was trying to shield them both from the rain with the umbrella and from prying eyes. When Nile was ready to stand, Nicky didn't let go of her, and while they walked the short distance to Joe and Nicky's flat, Andy walked behind them, trying to keep them dry with the umbrella.
"Nicky," Andy said when they reached the flat. "Call me when you know what is going on."
"I promise, but I have a very good idea what this is about," Nicky replied. "If I'm right, I need you and Booker to do something for Nile. I will also send Joe. I will explain later."
"Good," Andy replied. "And here. You can have the umbrella."
Nicky took the umbrella, and Andy left. Then Nicky led Nile inside the flat where Joe was waiting for them.
