Hux’s eyes fluttered open. He quietly huffed, brain still foggy from sleep. He wanted to check the time on his datapad but his room was cold and the blankets were warm. If he extended his arm out to the bedside table it would invite the cold into his soft cocoon. He groaned, pulling his head under the covers for a second to rub his eyes.
“Time.” he called out quietly, and his datapad responded in its robotic drone confirming it was only 0300.
He had gotten up earlier than he needed to, which wasn’t a surprise as he had slept surprisingly well and fell asleep earlier than usual. He was about to settle down and close his eyes to get a few more minutes of rest when he felt gentle touches along his back and shoulders, followed by soft inaudible whispers.
“Kylo?” He called out hoarsely, contorting his neck to try and look over his shoulder at the man who had been laying behind him. He still couldn’t really make out what he was doing.
Kylo ignored Hux, pushing him back onto his side and huffing in a frustrated manner before continuing his motions.
Shivers ran down Hux’s spine. He couldn’t deny whatever Kylo was doing felt good. Feeling his warm fingertips ghost against his skin, sending little sparks across his body, and reminding him of each loving bruise and mark left behind from the night before.
“Ren, what are you doing?” He asked, followed by a relieved sigh as Kylo pressed down a bit harder on a knot in his shoulder. Was this a massage? It was different from the ones he normally gave.
Still Kylo didn’t reply. Hux grumbled and was about to say something when he suddenly made out one of Kylo’s mumbled whispers.
“Seventy five,” the man hummed quietly. Followed by an even softer “Seventy six.”
Then it sunk in.
“Kylo… Kylo, are you counting my freckles?”
He turned back to look at him again and Kylo made a half serious grumpy frown.
“Yes, so stop talking and moving, you’re messing up my count.” He replied.
Hux chuckled to himself, turning back over. Wondering how long Kylo would keep this going before getting bored. But after nearly ten minutes of counting Hux started to wonder if he’d ever tire.
Hux rolled over onto his opposite side so he could face the knight. His eyes traced over Kylo’s flushed chest, and hair a muss from sleep, then finally his swollen pink lips held a gape having stopped speaking mid number.
Hux took Kylo’s hand which was still pointed outward towards him as if he were stuck like this, and squeezed it tightly.
“Kylo, Love, you’re never going to count them all.”
Kylo rolled his eyes. “I wasn’t done,” he huffed. He tried to say so in a joking manner but Hux could see how bothered he was.
“So you want to be staring at my back all morning?” Hux questioned.
“No…”
“That’s what I thought. Now get to work.” Hux instructed scooting closer to him. The blanket fell off of their shoulders slightly but the warmth of their bare bodies pressed against each was enough to combat the chill.
“What?” Kylo questioned, confused.
“There’s a lot more freckles to count on my face aren’t there?” Hux replied.
With that Kylo smirked, leaning forward and kissing him on his brow bone. “One.” He said before moving to Hux’s cheek and doing the same. “Two.”
Hux closed his eyes as his face was covered in Kylo’s soft tender kisses. Sighing and sinking into the pillow beneath his head. He moaned quietly when the ninth kiss was planted on his neck where Kylo lingered a moment gently sucking on his sore skin.
He felt Kylo’s large hands gently caress his jaw, turning his head ever so slightly. “Ten.” Kylo whispered into his ear, planting a kiss on Hux’s lips.
“That’s not a freckle.” Hux replied, trying to hold himself back from smiling to much.
“No, but perhaps it’s better.” Kylo answered, placing another kiss on his lips and holding it there this time.
Hux laced his fingers through the knights tangled hair, leaning himself into the kiss, gently biting his partner's bottom lip, who hummed back in response.
They stayed there like that for a while before finally breaking away.
“I think that was my favorite one to count.” Kylo teased.
“Well I think you missed a spot.” Hux whispered, and kissed him once more.
