Work Text:

I knew that I had passed on, that I had died. And yet, I had never felt more alive than I did in her arms. Our two bodies pressed together, Phanuel held me in a loose yet firm embrace as I tried to catch my breath. Her black eyes looked down at me, slight concern hidden beneath the surface as she saw my flushed face.

“I’m fine.” I panted out, letting her grab my waist and pull me closer. She put her knee between my legs as I hid my face in the crook of her neck. Her black hair fell into my face, and she shifted to let me snuggle her. The sheets beneath us were soft and felt like heaven, but all I could focus on was her. So beautiful, so divine, the woman next to me. The woman who took me by the chin and lifted my head up to face her, the woman who leaned in and kissed my lips with levels of passion and lust I had never experienced before. I had been kissed before, sure, but it had never felt like this. Phanuel’s lips brushed against my ear as she whispered to me, breaking the silence between us at last.

“You’re my pretty girl, honey…” She purred, proceeding to press a kiss to my neck just beneath my ear, right near several love bites she had left earlier. “My lovely girl…”

Hers. I was hers. I belonged somewhere, with someone, for once in my life. I could feel her hands on me, one gently trailing down my back and the other holding my hip. I felt like I had found a home, and yet, I knew it could never be. I had heard of Phanuel long before she called me to her court. In the hollow, where I previously resided, I had heard a lot of Phanuel, and how she went through women like they were days of the week. Never did I think I would be one of those women. I knew that it was for the better if I didn’t get attached to her and accepted that I wouldn’t be getting used to this love, but some part of my brain sang that I was special, different from the rest of Phanuel’s previous lovers. Maybe it was the light in her eyes when she looked at me, or the softness of her lips on my chest, kissing just over where the bullet that took my life struck. For some reason, I had hope that she would love me, and keep me by her side.

When Phanuel had called me to her court from the hollow, I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t ready to move on, to see what my fate going forward in the afterlife would be, but anywhere was better than the hollow, a dark and cold wasteland made of flesh. The only beauty that realm held were the stars in the sky above, which I had enjoyed watching since I was little, always finding comfort in the night sky. When I had arrived at Phanuel’s court, all I could see was a headache-inducing shade of red, surrounding me and making up the floor, walls and ceiling.
I had walked for what felt like days before finding the CEO at her desk, looking up at me with a sly grin. When I had asked about my trial, Phanuel said that she hadn’t called me for a trial, but rather company. The lustful look in her eyes told me everything, and soon enough, I had found myself topless in her lap. Of course, that was only the beginning. Now, our clothes were hastily thrown onto the foot of the bed, my skirt and her tie put in a pile among many other articles, all torn off our bodies in the heat of the moment.

I felt her hand slide up my back and begin to play with my hair. I leaned into her hand, feeling its warmth on my head as she hummed in amusement.

“So pretty…”

I opened my eyes and saw her looking at me, a small smile on her face and a prominent look of lust in her eyes. She looked at me in fascination and desire, and I felt as if me and her were the only two in the world. It sure felt that way, both of us locked away in her court, left uninterrupted. And it was perfect. I was sure I could stay like this forever, laying in bed with her as her hands began to roam my body. I moved to bury my face in her chest, noticing a bit of sweat between her breasts from earlier. She grabbed the back of my head and held me tightly against her. I let out a soft sigh of pleasure as her nails began to lightly scratch my scalp. This was it, this was heaven. I had died and gone to heaven. All the pain I had ever felt in my life seemed to disappear as her hand drifted down in between my thighs. Was she trying to tease me, or was she just absentmindedly touching me? I whined softly into her chest as she continued.

“Awh, what’s wrong, sweetie?” She said in a tone that feigned sympathy.

I lifted my leg up and put it on her hip, spreading my legs out for her, silently begging for her to touch me more.

“Mmh… Phanuel…”

“Yes?”

I looked up at her and pressed a kiss to her jawline, leaving a trace of lipstick on her skin. In response, she put her lips on my forehead and kissed me there. She was gentle with me, holding me in her arms like I was the most precious thing in the world. Maybe I was, to her at least. Her hands moved to settle on my back, her arms wrapped tightly around me, as if she feared I would run off. She didn’t know that I would never dream of it. I shut my eyes as I hid my face in her chest again. I didn’t need to sleep, and I knew that I couldn’t. I was dead, and Phanuel was a divine being, so she had no need for sleep either. It was just the two of us, content to lay with each other for the moment.

I kept my eyes shut, and I imagined what it would have been like if me and Phanuel met in life. Maybe we’d have more time together, go on dates to pretty places and lay in each other's arms more often. Maybe, and just maybe, she would have tied our lives together one day. We could have had a life together, and grown old.

I looked up at Phanuel and saw her. She was power, she was divine… and she was someone I could not have. She opened her eyes a bit, looking down at me in silent question. I shook my head and returned to my place of rest against her. It was silly to dream of her like that. After all, she was the creator, the divine CEO of the world, and to her, I was just another woman. It was silly to dream that she would think of me as something more.
