our destiny is scratched in blood red ink
upon a crumbling notepad damned by god,
the pages yellowed, tearing around the edges,
with splotches smeared across the lines,
covering our names to block us out of time we do not have
and keep us from rewriting our own destinies
while we search for a way to unwrite our curse.
