Chapter Text

It was a boring summer day for Johnny Test, who was staring out his bedroom window, upset that it was raining outside. Dukey, who was laying on Johnny's bed, was also upset about the rain.

Johnny rocked his ankles and fell backwards onto the floor. "I hate the rain," he groaned.

Hugh, who was walking down the hallway while carrying a basket full of dirty laundry, looked inside the room and noticed Johnny laying on the floor. "I don't get you, Johnny. When it's raining, all you wanna do is go outside but when it's sunny, all you wanna do is stay inside. Make up your mind!" Hugh complained before leaving the scene.

Dukey waited until Hugh was out of earshot to comment. "He has a point, you know. You can be very fickle."

Johnny pushed himself up to stand. "Well, not anymore! Life's too short to let some rain ruin our day. Let's go outside!"

"Johnny, we can't play in the rain. We might catch a cold."

"Relax, it's just water. It's not like there's a storm."

Just then, there was a flash of lightning and a rumble of thunder, both of which startled Johnny and Dukey. They looked outside and saw that there was indeed a storm.

"You were saying?" Dukey asked, raising an eyebrow.

"On second thought, let's go bug my sisters," Johnny suggested.

Susan and Mary were in their lab, working on a new invention, which was a large metal ring standing on a platform with wires coming out of it that were connected to their supercomputer.

"Once we perfect our newest invention, it should eliminate rainy day boredom forever," Mary said.

The lab door suddenly opened, revealing Johnny and Dukey, who were slouching and looking bored.

"Ugh...so bored," Johnny groaned as he and Dukey slowly entered the lab. Their boredom turned to excitement when they saw the invention. "Hey, what's that?"

"We constructed a portal that lets you travel anywhere in the world," Mary answered.

"Cool!" Johnny exclaimed. "Dukey, I know what we're gonna do today!"

"No, you don't!" Susan retorted. "You can't use the portal, Johnny."

"But we're bored!" Johnny argued.

"Then, find something else to do!" Susan ordered.

She pulled a nearby lever, causing a trapdoor to open up under Johnny and Dukey. The two of them screamed as they traveled down a chute and landed in the backyard pool. Johnny was mad that they had been kicked out of the lab.

"Know what else we're gonna do today?" he asked.

"Bug your sisters until they let us use the portal?" Dukey guessed.

"Oh, yeah."

"Susan, Mary!" Johnny called as he and Dukey rushed into the lab. "Look what just came in the mail."

Johnny handed Susan a note. She took the note and read it.

"It's a note from Gil!" Susan said excitedly. "He's inviting us to his house!"

The twins cheered. Susan started running towards the door while Mary took the note and read it.

"Works every time," Johnny whispered to Dukey.

"Wait!" Mary shouted, causing Susan to stop in her tracks.

"Or not," Dukey whispered, knowing something was wrong.

"Are you sure this is from Gil?" Mary asked, walking over to Susan while holding the note in her hand. "He spelled his own name wrong. Gil has one L, not two."

Susan took the note and reread it. "You're right! Gil didn't write this."

Realizing they were being tricked, the twins glared at Johnny and Dukey.

"How do you know? Maybe, he really did spell his name wrong," Johnny said sheepishly.

"Nice try, Johnny," Susan and Mary said in unison. They sent Johnny and Dukey through the trapdoor and into the backyard pool.

"I told you Gil only has one L," Dukey scolded.

"My bad," Johnny admitted. "Time for Plan B!"

Johnny kicked the lab door open. "I demand you let me use the portal!" he shouted angrily, entering the lab with Dukey in tow.

"Or what?" Susan challenged.

"Or I'll use this!" Johnny threatened, holding a bottle with a skull symbol on it. The bottle was filled with a green liquid. "I broke into the lab the other day and mixed a buncha chemicals from the unstable cabinet!"

"We don't have the unstable cabinet anymore," Mary informed. "Dad found it and made us throw it out."

Johnny didn't know that. "Uh, this was before that."

"Don't provoke him!" Dukey panicked. "He's crazy from boredom! Just do what he says!"

"Forget it!" Susan retorted.

"We know that trick," Mary said. "It's just water and green food coloring."

"Nice try, Johnny," the twins said in unison. They sent Johnny and Dukey through the trapdoor and into the backyard pool.

"You're not givin' up, are ya?" Dukey asked.

"Nope," Johnny replied. "Time for Plan C."

Johnny and Dukey were standing outside the lab, waiting for Susan and Mary to leave so they could sneak in.

"Johnny, it's been almost an hour," Dukey complained. "Are you really that bored?"

"Yes. Yes, I am."

"How are we gonna get in? They always lock it up."

"I got that covered," Johnny said, pulling out his cell phone. Suddenly, the lab door opened and he whisper-yelled, "There they are!"

Johnny and Dukey hid behind some boxes while Susan and Mary walked out of the lab.

"We haven't seen Johnny or Dukey in a while," Mary said. "Do you think they gave up?"

"I'm sure they're just waiting for us to leave," Susan said. "Set the alarm just in case."

Mary pressed a button that made the door close and typed in a code on a keypad. Unbeknownst to her and Susan, Johnny recorded it on his phone.

"Alarm set. Shopping, here we come," Mary said.

"First stop is The Splice Hut for a spool of #10 wire, two fuses and two of their delicious 99¢ hot dogs," Susan said.

The twins walked off. Once they were gone, Johnny and Dukey rushed over to the door.

"Okay, here's the code," Johnny said. He replayed the video on his phone. "S-K-C-O-R-L-I-G. Gilrocks backwards." Dukey typed in the code and pressed a button that made the door open. "We're in!" Johnny cheered.

"Are you sure we should do this?" Dukey asked as he and Johnny entered the lab and walked over to the supercomputer. "We don't even know how to use that thing."

"We would if the girls would let us use it but since they won't, we'll just have to wing it."

Johnny turned on the computer and found a program that was used to control the portal. He clicked on the program and found a long list of places around the world along with pictures of each place. Johnny started scrolling down the list and after a minute, Dukey became impatient.

"Hurry up and pick a place before the girls get back!" Dukey ordered.

"I can't decide where I wanna go. None of them interest me," Johnny complained.

After another minute, he found a place that interested him.

"Whoa! What a huge house!" Johnny exclaimed. He lost interest when he found out who lived there. "A house full of imaginary friends?"

"Can't be any weirder than what we see around here," Dukey said, shrugging his shoulders.

"I'm too old for a place like that though."

The next place on the list was a camp called Camp Kidney.

"You're not too old for camp," Dukey pointed out.

"Yeah, but camp is boring and look, all the campers are animals," Johnny protested. "I'd stick out like a sore thumb if we went there."

"This is gonna take a while," Dukey deadpanned.

Johnny continued scrolling down the list until he found another place that interested him.

"Hey, check this one out," Johnny said. "It's a place called Danville. I've never heard of it."

"Me neither.  Wanna go there?" Dukey asked, hoping Johnny would say 'yes'.

"I dunno. It looks like another regular city to me."

"Johnny, it's the last place on the list," Dukey said in annoyance. "What's it gonna take for you to decide?"

"Johnny!" Hugh called from downstairs. "If you're still bored, I got some chores you can do!"

"Danville it is!" Johnny declared.

"Finally!" Dukey said in relief.

Johnny pressed a button on the computer, causing a portal to appear. Johnny and Dukey jumped into the portal and then, it closed itself once they were inside.
