Checking In

Summary:

Maybe breaking into the home of the Princess of Hell and the Radio Demon's home wasn't the smartest decision, but Blitz really wanted to check on Octavia. Lucifer isn't that scary, right?

Work Text:

Blitz kept himself as low to the ground as possible, getting caught before getting to his goal was not an option. Blitz preferred avoiding all the Overlords as much as possible, save the one that ruled over Imp City. Blitz had personally been seen by Jack to get his business permit for I.M.P. and that man practically vibrated as Blitz had explained his business model. Learning he was the father of the Radio Demon had put a chill down Blitz's spine for months. Now that he thought back on it, Jack did tell him when that party was going to be so he could steal Stolas' book.

"I don't know what's worse," Blitz muttered to himself as he made into the lobby. "That I'm in the territory of the Radio Demon, or his dad was probably playing matchmaker."

"You two have been in love with each other since you were tots," a voice spoke behind him. "I told Paimon as much."

"Gee, thanks for" Blitz snarked before turning around to see the infamous cannibal leader of Imp City. "Your Mayor ness, Big King of Lust ex.........Radio Demon Dad."

"Close enough," Jack shrugged. "Octavia's room is on the twelfth floor, but avoid the thirteenth, that's Lulu and Ally-gator's floor, don't want to see anything traumatizing!"

Blitz watched as Jack walked away grinning before racing over to the elevator. The cat sinner at the bar raised one long eyebrow at him, before rolling his eyes and pulling out a bottle of vodka. Blitz frowned as a rabbit with a halo walked up to start yelling at him as the doors closed. One floor up the elevator stopped, and Blitz felt like his life force left his body as the Radio Demon smiled down at him before getting on.

"Good evening, my fine Impish fellow!" Alastor grinned down at him. "Are you here to visit Miss Octavia? Of course you must be, but where is her father?"

"Stolas doesn't know I came," Blitz frowned up at him. "I wanted to check on Via. I know I'm probably not the best person, but she's not answering Stolas' calls, and I just wanna get eyes on her to make sure she's making all the choices she needs outside of what her stupid granddad decided."

"Very good," Alastor spoke eyes falling half shut before they enlarged into radio dials and he contorted over. "But if you upset the girl, I cannot guarantee your Stolas will get you back!"

Blitz stared in horror as the Radio Demon looming over him when the elevator stopped. Blitz bolted out the door followed by hallow deranged laughs as he headed to the first door he saw. It was painted purple and black with pink and yellow stars and Octavia's name was written at the top. Blitz took a deep breath before knocking. A minute later, Via opened the door. Blitz smiled and opened his mouth to speak before Octavia slammed it shut.

"Okay, that's deserved," Blitz frowned. "Via, can I please talk to you?"

"Why would I want to talk to the person who ruined everything?" Octavia shouted through the door.

"Good point you got there, Via, but for all it's worth, I'm sorry I sped it up," Blitz sighed.

Octavia opened the door to peak at Blitz before opening the door fully and letting him in. Blitz walked in taking in the stars and plants before smiling at her. She really was too much like Stolas sometimes. Octavia sat herself on her bed and gestured for Blitz to take the chair and he pulled it over to her so they could talk.

"What did you mean you sped it up?" Octavia asked.

"From everything I gathered before your dad and I met again," Blitz frowned.

"What do you mean 'met again'? You knew Dad before all of this?" Octavia frowned.

"Your grandfather brought him to my circus when we were kids," Blitz smiled at her. "That's when we met the first time. Your grandfather bought my time for your Dad's birthday."

"Oh wow," Octavia frowned. "And you just dipped?"

"Can't be friends with a noble when you're one of the lowest ranked," Blitz shrugged. "For what it's worth, the day I ran away with your Dad's book, I remember hearing them screaming at each other. Via you dad wanted out, and the way your mother screamed. I'm not surprised by it. I know that tone and honestly, one of the first thoughts I had after the trial and getting Stolas settled was 'What if she turns that anger onto you?' That scares me, kid."

"You're worried about me?" Octavia frowned, confused. Why would you be worried about me?"

"You're Stolas' kid," Blitz shrugged. "I'm pretty sure if anything happened to you, he'd some completely loose it. He's been of his anti-depressants for about a month and that's been fun."

"Wait, Dad took medication?" Octavia yelped. "What, to make living with me and Mum easier?"

"Oi, don't go putting shit in people's mouths," Blitz scoffed. "It's rude."

"Then I was just an obligation," Octavia frowned.

"Crist on a Stick, Via, you're not listening!" Blitz growled in frustration.

"Then what am I supposed to think?!" Octavia stood up. "He still left me for you!"

"And that was fucking shitty of him, but he didn't see a choice," Blitz yelled back. "Fuck! I would have done the same thing without thinking because people do stupid shit for love!"

"You would have left Luna?" Octavia turned to him.

"If I knew she would be safe, then maybe, but Octavia, Noble Kids aren't the same as regular kids," Blitz sighed. "Your grandfather just dumped you on the King without thinking about it."

"I kinda like it here honestly, it's been nice not to see people hate each other," Octavia sighed. "I've been doing the redemption classes the Princess has set up."

"How's that going?" Blitz smiled at her.

"Terrible, they keep doing the same thing over and over, but there's angels here and one of them is redoing the Princess' lesson plans," Octavia hooted. "Also Mr. Morningstar makes the best pancakes and the Radio Demon is a big softy, but he'll murder you before admitting it."

"Mister Morningstar?" Blitz frowned. "The King lets you call him that?"

   "Yeah, he does."

"Okay, anything you want to tell your dad?" Blitz sighed. "I came to basically check on you, because I'm not fighting the Mayor and his kid, bad enough both of them cornered me."

Octavia laughed at Blitz' full body shudder. She couldn't say she saw the same thing he did. Alastor was more spooky and kooky than scary, he also liked to fuss over Charlie's guest. Octavia had enjoyed every dish of food he'd given to her, chicken fried rabbit being her favorite. Octavia got an idea then and grabbed Blitz' hand, dragging the imp down into the kitchens.

Alastor was standing at the counter, sleeves rolled up to his elbows, hand deep in the carcass of a turkey. He spun his head around to look at who disturbed his kitchen, thinking Lucifer had gotten then nerve again to try and sneak cookies that were for the following days snacks. Upon seeing their Goatia, Alastor's head snapped back and he beckoned her in.

"Mister Alastor, can you tell Blitz about what you've been feeding me?" Octavia asked.

"Oh course!" Alastor smiled. "Why I'll do one better. I have copies of Octavia's schedule, what she is currently eating in rotation, her school activities, but I'd like it if her father would give us access to her medical files, Lady Belphegor might be my personal doctor, but she takes medicine seriously, so we need parental consent for those. Also these are Lucifer, my father's and my personal cell numbers. My Father is to be contacted first in anything regarding Miss Octavia, Lucifer second and I in emergency only. You're one of the lucky few to have my number, if you must reach me, just tune into my personal station and I'll respond quickly. I also have a formal pardon by Lucifer written up for you."

"Hoy Hell, how you get the big man to sign this?" Blitz asked taking the paper work and staring at Lucifer's signature and seal.

"Oh simple, I asked him to sign it while he wasn't paying attention!" Alastor laughed and his cane erupted in canned laughter. "He's so sleepy in the morning! It's usually how I get proper food in him and not sugar! If that's all you need, I really need to get back to this turkey for New Years!"

With that, Blitz and Octavia were ushered out of Alastor's kitchen. Octavia frowned at the paperwork in Blitz' hands, before he folded it up and tucked it into his jacket.

"Okay, I think I've got enough to at least make Stolas more comfortable," Blitz nodded. "I'm going to try to keep him from calling so much, but you've got my number, right?"

   "I do," Octavia confirmed.

"Good, reach out when you're ready," Blitz told her. "I can understand that you're kinda feeling like my sister feels about me, and yes Stolas lied to you. I think the phrase is the road to Hell is paved with good intentions?"

"Thank you Blitz," Octavia smiled at him before tears flooded her eyes. "This is all so fucked up."

"Got that right," Blitz nodded. "I've got your dad, you focus on you, okay Via? We'll be there when you're ready and you've got some cushy digs right now."

Octavia nodded and waived goodbye as Blitz walked out of the hotel. Jack slid over to Octavia's side opening an arm for her to cuddle into his side. Everything would be okay eventually, but for now there were hurts to sooth and tears to banish.
