Chapter Text
Author’s Note — April 15, 2026
I began adopting Petrichor late in 2024 as a fun thing to do, and found myself encapsulated in a grand project. Petrichor has been a love and my best friend, Saffron, ever since we discovered it together while bored in Algebra. I in particular fell in love with the character dynamics and plot—Saffron fell in love with a specific character: the kid, Qakuqataq. Bonding over our shared love for the series, it pushed me and him to be closer than ever before.
Starting in early 2026, I began looking back at rewriting earlier chapters. This is in an effort to distance myself from the series’ creator, Axio. I was deeply disappointed in him and his efforts to try and protect and stick with Rylee, a former member of the community who was banned due to "inappropriate behavior.” You can read more about it on the document linked at the end.
Rylee has shown that she will not apologize and take responsibility for her actions, at least in a way that makes it sincere towards the victims that she tormented. Axio’s attempts to protect her places him in a position that villainizes himself as well, and has led to the end of many of his friendships and connections. I see this as a personal betrayal too. Rylee would’ve seen a gal like myself as below herself, but would’ve also heavily sexualized and targeted me. I wouldn’t have tolerated actions like this, but I’m glad that she was outed before she could hurt anyone else.
I am heavily disgusted with Axio’s actions, but this is still his work. The idea, the characters, the plot and the names of the chapters, the lesson of the story and the character dynamics, everything even boiling down to the dialogue despite it being paraphrased into my own style, are his. I in no way will ever claim another’s work as mine. But I refuse to ever associate the series with him ever again.
I wish that none of this could’ve ever happened, or that Axio could’ve woken up and chosen the right side of history, or that Rylee and her horrible self could’ve just flat out never existed. But it did happen, and that’s the way things are. It’s not worth it to try and change history. All that matters is that Rylee has finally been ousted, and Axio has chosen her over me and many more of his friends that he’s made over the years.
I’m writing this in chemistry class on the morning of April 15, 2026. Over the next few weeks, you will more than likely see several changes, edits, revisions, and rewrites across the six currently posted chapters (Gray, Viridian, Mauve, Khaki, Ruby, Aqua).
All credits go to Axio. Watch the original series on his channel, or on my channel should he decide to take the series down. I no longer believe that he is worthy of praise, but I still firmly believe, as the biggest fan of this series and as someone who is creating one of the greatest fan projects in the history of mapping (to my knowledge…), that the series is worthy of praise. This is why I will continue to write the Petrific and why I will continue to update this work and appreciate the series.
