Work Text:
A bright almost blinding flash of bright light surrounded the duo, having been bickering for a moment there, but stopping as it happened.
“What the hell was that?”
“I dunno.“
The two stared at each other in confusion, not really sure what was going on, short of panicking they were trying to find the reason for the flashing lights.
“Did you touch something?”
“No!”
But then, they felt it, something happening to them.
“Sure you did. Why else would this have happened?”
Hunter motioned at himself, the transition clear as day now. On the both of them. Crosshair staring at Hunter, then trying to see himself fully. Turning his head every which way.
Crosshair’s eyes wide suddenly, the clear change present in the two.
“Well, I… just the one object. Just ya know, to feel it.”
Crosshair pointed at the artefact which was eerily reminiscent of a large size dog sitting on the pedestal. The only recognisable thing on the pedestal among several other statues there. Or whatever they were.
“Cross!”
“Well, it was kinda calling to me.”
“Sure it was.”
“Well it was!”
“So what do we do now?”
“You asking me?”
“Who else?”
“Touch the object again?”
Hunter only nodded and Crosshair touched the dog like statue again.
But this time, there was no flash of light around them nor the change back either.
Looking at each other and themselves again, it was, an odd sensations for sure.
“Nothing happened.”
“I know that!”
Crosshair touched the statue again, poking or rather stabbing it angrily, but still nothing.
“It’s not working anymore.”
“I can see that, Cross.”
“So, what now?”
“I dunno, guess Tech can figure something out.”
“Sure.”
“We’d better get back to the ship.”
“Agreed.”
As they walked back to the ship in their new doglike forms, there was a loud growl.
“Cross.”
“Sorry Hunt, guess my dog instincts are kicking in.”
Another growl. Only this time it was Hunter.
Snarling, their eyes were honed in the same direction while sniffing the air.
“There.”
“Yeah, I see it.”
“Let’s go before it gets away!”
The two suddenly on all fours leaping after the rabbit having just emerged from seemingly out of nowhere.
