Chapter Text
"Hss... it'sss getting colder recently." Pitaya Dragon grumbled as they paced around their nest.
Dragon's Valley didn't use to get this cold, even in the winter. The scorching flames of spice is enough to expel any senses of seasonal changes. You could even say it's summer everyday, every night. Due to this, every single villagers that resides in the Dragon's Valley is used to the heat and even grew to become dependent on the temperatures. Lately, the shift in coldness was significant. Usually at most, it'll drop a couple degrees in the winter, but these days it'll get cold enough that Snapdragon starts curling up near Pitaya Dragon while they slept.
This definitely wasn't normal.
"Grr... it better not be the work of that Frossst Queen Cookie." Pitaya Dragon hissed, glancing outside from a window.
The Dragon's Valley scenery was also significantly duller. The flaming shades of red were reduced to a boring looking light red, almost pink in a way.
Pitaya Dragon continued to stare outside, growling as they took notice of their surroundings. This sight was certainly extremely depressing.
"Thisss is sso pathetic! My ssstrength is overflowing and yet my home is fading into nothing but the sssshivering cold!"
"Bwahuhu.."
Pitaya Dragon turned around to find the flying Snapdragon behind them, who's eyes seemed pitiful and sad.
"I know! Thisss is sso ssstupid!" Pitaya Dragon said, patting Snapdragon's head.
Pitaya Dragon clenched their fists, "Who daresss to do such actss! Frossst Queen, when I find you.. the greatesst battle known to Cookiekind ssshall commence!"
"Kawu?" Snapdragon asked, getting curious.
"Ssshe's the ruler of winter, the one that isss definitely behind all of this coldness! How dare ssshe ssspread her control over here!" Pitaya Dragon growled, the flare in their eyes growing.
"Pyua bwyu kawah?" Snapdragon proposed.
Pitaya Dragon thought about it for a second, before chuckling, "My, my! You little rascal, you're right! Let'ss go to her ourselvesss!"
Snapdragon eagerly flew above Pitaya Dragon's head, nesting themselves right in Pitaya Dragon's hair.
"Haha! Tired already from flying around earlier? Fine, let'sss just go!" Pitaya Dragon laughed, before immediately flying out the window.
Snapdragon clung onto Pitaya Dragon as they flew above the Dragon's Valley, taking in the dull scenery of the area. The once bustling villages are now quiet, with Cookies only coming out to hunt or patrol. Snapdragon babbled a few sentences sadly, observing the sad state of the villagers.
"I am going to give Frosst Queen the biggest punch of all time." Pitaya Dragon muttered as they saw the unliveliness of their home.
The ride continued in silence, each sight and scent that Pitaya Dragon took in only made them wince slightly. If Frost Queen Cookie had the power to even control the temperatures in Dragon's Valley, which was Pitaya Dragon's territory.. no. They have to stop thinking about it, they will win the battle that will happen if Frost Queen becomes too stubborn to listen. They have to.
The environment slowly shifted into the wintery scene, mountains were now covered in snow. Snapdragon burrowed deeper into Pitaya Dragon's hair, sniffling.
Pitaya Dragon squinted their eyes to prevent the snow from hitting them. The white surroundings made things harder to locate and up until this point, Pitaya Dragon only heard where Frost Queen's palace was. They've never been here officially, don't even mention how Pitaya Dragon never even met Frost Queen nor knows what her personality was like. All Pitaya Dragon cared about now was restoring the Dragon's Valley temperature rates.
"Gahyu!" Snapdragon pointed at a Cookie flying in the distance.
Pitaya Dragon nodded, picking up the speed a bit to catch up to the Cookie.
The Cookie sensed someone behind him, so he stopped and turned around. Their pale and frosty look instantly gave away that they weren't just a regular Cookie, their flowing scarf blew gently against the cold breeze.
"Excuse me, but who are you? You don't seem to be from around here." the Cookie asked as Pitaya Dragon stopped in front of him.
Snapdragon curiously peeked out from behind Pitaya Dragon's helmet to observe the mysterious Cookie.
The Cookie looked up at Snapdragon and laughed, "And who are you, little one?"
Pitaya Dragon hissed, "Who are you, firssst of all?"
"The name's Sherbet Cookie. I'm just on my way to see Frost Queen again after visiting my beloved friend." Sherbet nodded respectfully at Pitaya Dragon.
"Are you friendsss with Frossst Queen?" Pitaya Dragon guessed.
Sherbet chuckled, "Of course! I also help her watch over the flow of life, to pay back the help she offered me!"
"Care to take us to her? We have... businessss with her." Pitaya Dragon asked, a bit cautious with their tone.
"She isn't usually the type to see other Cookies, but I can try to convince her to meeting you two! Say, what's the business about?"
Pitaya Dragon was hesitant to tell Sherbet about the Dragon's Valley's state. They didn't want to feel weak in front of what appears to be no less of a teenager. However, they knew that there was no way of contacting Frost Queen if they weren't honest about it.
"The Dragon'sss Valley temperaturesss have dropped. My Cookiesss are getting sssicker by the minute. I sssuspect it's the work of Frossst Queen."
Sherbet gasped empathetically, "I'm so sorry! But, that doesn't seem to be the causing of Frost Queen by purpose. I know her very well and know she would never purposefully harm Cookies. Last time I checked, the flow of life was flowing smoothly too."
Pitaya Dragon tensed up, "You mean to sssay, it'sss not her fault?"
Sherbet nodded, "I'm sure. However, I'll bring you two to Frost Queen as quick as possible to see if she has a solution."
Pitaya Dragon nodded and whispered, "Thanksss."
Sherbet laughed, "Come on! Follow me!"
Sherbet then quickly took off flying, with Pitaya Dragon carrying Snapdragon following behind. Many thoughts rushed through Pitaya Dragon's head, if it wasn't the doing of Frost Queen, then what was the cause? Surely it wasn't themselves subconsciously changing the temperatures right? No, that can't be.
Pitaya Dragon clenched their fists, thinking to themselves.
My strength is perfectly fine. I could take on an entire Cookie army if there was one. There is no way the best dragon of them all can't even keep their territory in check. I am doing perfectly fine. That Frost Queen better solve this issue with her powers.
Snapdragon glanced down at the tensed up Pitaya Dragon, a bit worried for them.
After a while more of flying and following Sherbet, they reached Frost Queen's castle.
