Work Text:
It was a special day, at least to Five Pebbles. He usually would not care less about the festivities his creators carried out, but he had someone to share the experience with this time, so maybe he would find it more enjoyable. He had ordered Providence to gather a few things for him; it wouldn't be perfect, but he had to make do with the lack of resources that could be provided to him, telling him to place what he gathered at the top of Pebbles' structure as he returned.
Next, was being unhooked from the structure, as doing what he wished to do would be dangerous inside his chamber. A weird feeling, but he had gotten used to it from how long their previous outting ended up becoming. With a little of Providence's help, the duo made it to the top of the structure. The city in the distance, the night sky twinkling above, and the random assortment of items on the ground. Providence had not been told what was happening, just that Five Pebbles wanted him to experience this.
It wasn't a lot, just a collection of items you could find in a reasonable amount of time. A few flashbangs, cherrybombs, sharp pieces of rebar, and a handful of vines. Pebbles lowered himself down toward the ground and went right to work, creating.. whatever it was that he was creating. Providence watched with innate curiosity as he (poorly) attached the cherrybombs and flashbangs to the spears, the vines holding it all together, needing to be wrapped multiple times around the flashbangs, but they still had the opportunity to slip away making the project delicate to handle. The cherrybombs were easier to hold together, the stem of one always being left hanging, and not crumbled together with the rest of the plants. Five Pebbles was reasonably satisfied, knowing not much else could be done without the required items.
"It's.. reasonably accurate. It should get the picture across to you." Five Pebbles picked up 2 rocks laying around, and started scraping them against each other in an attempt to make a spark to light the stem of the cherrybomb. It quickly lit, crawling up the stem to the explosive berries on the end, with Pebbles picking up the spear and tossing it into the sky. Being too weak to toss it high enough, by the time it collides with the ground, thats when it all ruptures into loud crackles and bangs. Providence pulling Pebbles back as the flashbangs go off right in front of them, blinding the duo as their ears start ringing from the noise.
Shaking off the feeling after a few seconds, Pebbles turns over to Providence with slight hesitance. "Could you toss the next one up-?" While hoping this gives the desired effect. Providence nods as he grabs the next one, holding it out as Pebbles lights the fuse once more. Thrown into the air with a gust of wind following behind it, the height it peaks surpassing whatever Pebbles could have reasonably done. A few seconds, and the cherrybombs and flares go off once more, luckily not as obnoxious on the ears or eyes as before.
It wasn't a spectacle by any means, no flashy colours, or pretty patterns to make them worth while, a singular one at a time only does so much in the grand scheme of things. It was pretty enough for the moment though, and Providence could understand the vision. "I could find things after the cycle ends to improve the design if you wish?"
Pebbles' antennae perked up slightly, before going back to its usual resting position.
"Yes, that would be appreciated. Thank you, Providence."
"No problem, Pebbles."
The duo raised one last makeshift firework into the sky, watching it explode into a blinding light.
