Chapter Text
Wells is dead. Turns out Grounders are good for something. Murphy simple wishes he could have been there to enjoy the show. He was to admit their little incursion into camp is a welcomed boost in work ethic. Murphy keeps his arms crossed and the others working, barking orders and administering incentives with his foot where need be. Then he reports to Bellamy like the obedient follower he is. Someone float him.
Then the princess storms out of her chamber and starts screaming abuse at his face, calling him a murderer. Hell, he may not be the most innocent lamb in camp, but he isn´t a murderer. She brandishes his knife at him, and isn´t that a surprising turn of events? Murphy hadn´t even realized he´d lost it. He´d never be idiotic enough to leave the murder weapon at the crime scene, especially if his fucking initials are carved on it.
Surely that´s obvious. Before he can retort, the others start clamoring for his blood.
He pleads to Bellamy; he´ll put a stop to this nonsense, give him the time to explain, a fair trial.
...
Murphy is choking, his lungs aren´t getting any air, there´s a ring of fire around his throat, black dots floating around his vision, the vitriol and the bloodthirsty gazes poison to his ringing ears and tear-filled eyes.
...
Even when the real murderer confesses and he is begrudgingly spared, he isn´t owed an apology or an ounce of medical care for his neck.
Surprisingly (not), Charlotte doesn´t receive the same treatment as him. The leaders of the camp want to protect her, won´t stop at anything to protect her, won´t let Murphy get justice. After all, those who break the law get floated, right?
It happened to his dad, and it was going to happen to him even though he was innocent. So why is little Charlotte spared while he gets treated worse than a rabid dog?
He starts hunting her. Anything to take his mind off what just happened. The little devil is dangerous. She killed a man in cold blood, lied about it, and is clearly manipulating everyone to get her way. Who is to say he won´t be next slain in his sleep?
Of course he gets the blame once the little monster jumps off a cliff, why wouldn´t he?
