Never can we suspend time

Summary:

Moments of respite between the never ending chaos of war.

Aka

Base conversations that I wrote before writing the actual story.

Subject to change.

Notes:

Will I make these actual scenes? Who knows! My beta reader's availability is like Tormad's in Radiant Dawn. Almost non-existent.

Chapter 1: Despair and Hope

Notes:

Will I make these actual scenes? Who knows! My beta reader's availability is like Tormad's in Radiant Dawn. Almost non-existent.

Edit: That's a lie, what's non-existent is my motivation

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Oscar: Aaah... What a mess this is... Commander... Why...

Unknown: Whoo.

Oscar: Huh? An owl?

Owl: Whoo!

Oscar: Oddly calm for a wild bird... Wait, no, you've something around your talon. You're... A messenger bird? Who trained an owl to be a messenger??

Owl: Whoo!!

Oscar: Alright, let's see what you've got here...

Soren: Oscar.

Oscar: Oh! Soren, you're still awake?

Owl: Whoo! Whoo!!

Soren: Hm? That bird...

Oscar: This guy just flew in with a delivery.

Soren: Girl.

Oscar: Pardon?

Soren: Dia is a female snowy owl, they are native to Daein's mountains.

Oscar: Dia, huh? Well, if you know this bird, then perhaps this letter is for you?

Soren: ... It would appear so.

Oscar: ...

Soren: ...

Oscar: ... Is there anything else you need?

Soren: ... No. That is all.

Oscar:  I see... ... Well, goodnight.

Soren: Hm.

(You got an Elixir)

Notes:

*shakes Soren* how do I write youuuuu

Chapter 2: Blood Runs Red

Summary:

Volke gets a message from an old friend.

Notes:

Honestly these are kinda just for fun. Constructive criticism is very much welcome.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Volke: Hmmm...

Thief: Fireman.

Volke: Who called?

Thief: You've got a missive from a fair maiden.

Volke: Give it here.

Thief: Payment, too.

Volke: Hm.

Thief: That's all for now. See ya 'round, Fireman.

Volke: ...

Volke: "I will trust in your judgement, old friend."... Ha ha ha! Friend you say? Always so sincere, fair lady.

(You got 20,000 gold)

Notes:

I've decided to give up trying to balance Deirdre into this game and said "screw it". So now she's a sage who gives you insane items after talking with her. Like Fe4's conversations sometimes.

Chapter 3: Day Breaks

Summary:

Soren feels the presence of an old acquaintance

Notes:

I still don't know how to write this moody twink.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Mist: Soren? Soren! Where are you?

Soren: What is it?

Mist: Wah! Oh- Soren! You scared me!

Soren: What did you need of me?

Mist: Ah, right. I wanted to let you know it's almost dinner time. Oscar's on cooking duty, and he made lots! You'd better hurry before Ike eats it all.

Soren: I'll join shortly, there's something I need to check.

Mist: Uh uh, I've heard that before! You've barely been eating ever since we arrived! I know you don't eat a lot anyways, but this is different! I'm really worried about you...

Soren: ... I'm fine. I can forage when I need something.

Mist: That doesn't count! You need to eat meat too!

Soren: ... Fine. I'll at least show my face, but I'll leave quickly. I still have work to do.

Mist: ... Oh, alright... That's probably the best I can get... See you at dinner.

Soren: See you.

Soren: ...

Soren: ... This feeling... What is that woman thinking? Begnion is far too dangerous, what possessed her to come here?

Notes:

I have three cavities. One is very painful and aches really bad when I open my mouth. The other two are relatively small.

The Ao3 author curse is real.

Chapter 4: Without a King

Summary:

Soren meets with his old benefactor

Notes:

I'm not completely satisfied with this one, but hey, at least I'm writing!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Soren: ... Lunacy... Ike, I understand, but Titania? One would think she would know better than to blindly offer trust... This will cut into our reserves, assuming the Daein refugees don't put the rest to torch in anger... Morale will drop too... Honestly, what a bunch of fools...

Soren: ... Hm?

Soren: ... You... What are you doing here?

Deirdre: ...

Soren: Don't tell me you followed us. This is a warzone! This is the last place someone like you should be!

Deirdre: Soren...

Soren: Go back to one of your safe houses. Aren't you aquatinted with some of Begnion's elite? Can't they shelter you? If a Daein solider catches you-

Deirdre: Soren, are you in danger?

Soren: ...

Deirdre: You speak to me, yet your eyes waver. Why do you search for threats? The battle is won, you are among allies... I've seen you act this way only once, back when we first moved to Crimea. You trusted none but I, even then, so very little...

Soren: ... Get to the point.

Deirdre: ... Do you not feel safe among the mercenaries anymore? ... Do you... Suspect a mole?

Soren: ... Suspect is putting it lightly...

Deirdre: ... I see...

Soren: ...

Deirdre: ... Soren... What do you need, right now?

Soren: I... Insurance. I need insurance of some kind. Something to... Escape, or protect me. Just in case.

Deirdre: ... Alright... I had wanted to refine this further, but you need it now. Here, take this.

Soren: This is...

Deirdre: ... This will heal you, should you suffer a grievous wound. And should danger encroach where you once felt safe, it will give you time to escape.

Soren: I will not leave Ike's side.

Deirdre: I know.

Soren: ...

Deirdre: I shall trust he will shield you where I cannot. Until we next meet, Soren.

Soren: ...Goodbye for now, Lady Deirdre.

(You got a Silver Necklace)

Notes:

This is one of the op items I mentioned earlier. I think I gave the Silver Necklace Renewal and some stat boosts. Not sure which ones, but one of them is HP +3 I think. Might change that.

Chapter 5: The Great Bridge

Summary:

Ilyana realizes who their next opponent is.

Notes:

This is my AU so I get to expand the minor details of world building as I please! *Cackles*

*Realizes I have to write it*

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Ilyana: ... Is that true?

Daein: Aye. This will be a difficult fight, physically, emotionally, and especially for you.

Ilyana: ...

Daein: You can remain here at camp. It would be preferable for the general.

Ilyana: ... No... I-I want to fight. It won't be pleasant, but I... I want to him to understand my reasons. I want him to know why.

Daein: ...An admirable goal, milady. Is that your final decision?

Ilyana: Yes.

Daein: As you wish. By your leave.

Ilyana: ...

Ilyana: Master...

(+2 mg +1 skill)

I'm fighting some demons right now:

Notes:

Some more here.

This one is inspired by the talk conversations that boost stats in Fe4. Not as dramatically of course.

Chapter 6: Battle Reunion

Summary:

Ilyana handles the aftermath of the Riven Bridge Battle

Notes:

A little note: Reinhardt has been in Telluis for about 10 years now, he remembers parts of Jugdral, but not how he "died". He's also trained Ilyana, so his character might be a little different than in Thracia 776. I'll check later though, right now I feel like I'm about to faint to I'm chucking this out now and sleeping whatever this is off.
Enjoy!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

If Reinhardt was killed:

Ilyana: ... Sniff... Sniff sniff...

Ilyana: ...Master...

Aimee: Ilyana, dear, are you in here?

Ilyana: S-sniff, yeah...

Aimee: Can I come in?

Ilyana: Y-yeah...

Aimee: Oh, you poor dear. You're a mess! Have you eaten at all?

Ilyana: No... Everything... Sniff... T-tastes like ash...

Aimee: That man was important to you, wasn't he? I'm so sorry...

Ilyana: I-it's okay...

Aimee: ...

Aimee: I don't know what that man was thinking, but if he taught you the he must've been a good man. I think he... Wanted to keep you safe, even in passing. Bit hard to do in war, but with your talents I think this will suffice.

Ilyana: W-why do you have Master's tome?

Aimee: ... A soldier came in, a few hours before the battle. He bought out my store, then gave me this... With the instructions to give it to you should his side lose.

Ilyana: ... Sniff...

Aimee: I know I'm can get... Excited at times, but I do care about you, Ilyana. I'm no great mage general, but when it comes to matters of the heart, I'm somewhat of an expert!

Ilyana: ... Pfft.. Ha ha!

Aimee: There we go! There's that smile. Come on, let's get you something to eat.

(You got a Dire Thunder!)

If Reinhardt was captured:

Soren: You are certain, Ike? This will be different that the other Daein recruits. Marado is an independent state, if General Reinhardt believes to have been slighted, we may full well have a second army to contend with.

Ike: I'm sure, Soren. I doubt he's willing to send his people to war when the entire reason he joined Ashnard was to prevent Marado casualties.

Soren: ... If you believe his character to be so, I will relent.

(Ike and Soren leave)

Reinhardt: ... That accent...

Ilyana: Master?

Reinhardt: Ilyana! A pleasant surprise, you were a terror in the field!  You weren't heavily injured, correct?

Ilyana: No, I'm fine. I didn't hurt you too badly, did I?

Reinhardt: Not at all, my student. You were excellent, I repeat what I said, I am proud of you.

Ilyana: Thank you, Master... Everyone here... They helped me in ways I won't be able to repay. I'm grateful to them, probably always will be... I'm happy you're alive too.

Reinhardt: Yes... It's quite a thing, to be alive.

Ilyana: What will you do now?

Reinhardt: In accordance to the will of my Steward and the Commander, join the Liberation Army until King Ashnard breathes his last. Then, I will return to Marado with a full pardon from Princess Crimea herself.

Ilyana: Y-you're joining us? Really? What about Marado? ... Or Daein?

Reinhardt: ... By serving the Crimean Liberation Army, I prove to Bengion that Marado, as a whole, does not condone King Ashnard's actions. If turning traitor in the eyes of Daein keeps my people safe, then I will do so without hesitation.

Ilyana: I see... Well then... How about a tour? I can show you around... Teach you something this time.

Reinhardt: I would not be opposed, shall we start with the cafeteria?

Ilyana: Absolutely! The chef on duty is amazing!

(Reinhardt has joined your cause!)

Notes:

Reinhardt:
- shows up
- buys all of Aimee's stock
- dumps Dire Thunder
- "Just in case"
- doesn't elaborate further
- leaves

Chapter 7: Clash!

Summary:

Deirdre attempts to discuss the Black Knight with Stefan

Notes:

Shorter one, also wondering how I wanna take the connection between Deirdre and (redacted)

Plus mild spoilers for PoR and RD

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

(If Deirdre engaged Petrine and Stefan engaged Black Knight)

Deirdre: Um... Pardon me, Sir Stefan.

Stefan: Oh! Milady Deirdre, to what do I owe the pleasure?

Deirdre: I've a question regarding the last battle. I hear it was you who kept watch over the Black Knight.

Stefan: You hear correctly. That ward of yours wanted to use me as a buffer just in case that knight entered the fray. Quite the ruthless one, I must say!

Deirdre: Did you... Notice anything?

Stefan: ...

Deirdre: ... No, I apologize... It is not my place.

Stefan: Milady-

Deirdre: Please forget what I said. Excuse me.

Stefan: ... What a strange place Daein is. King Ashnard has quite the progressive view for one of his station. And Miss Deirdre, what where you trying to do here?

Stefan: That Knight, those children, and the general... Perhaps we share more in common than nature.

Notes:

This is the first of Deirdre's conditional conversations. (I say like I've planned more). But I do wanna try and capture Fe4's wacky events, and some of the classes from there.

Chapter 8: Moment of Fate

Summary:

Mist receives an item from Deirdre

Notes:

Rewrite. The last one felt more like a support, and I wanted to add the whole "Deirdre gives nice items if X or Y is met"

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Mist: Um... Miss Deirdre?

Deirdre: Do you have need of me, Mist?

Mist: Do you... Have a spare Physic staff I can barrow?

Deirdre: I believe so, do you wish to aid Sir Ike? Depending on the opponent, a Ward Staff may serve better.

Mist: Yes... I... I can't lose him. I can't sit around while the people I care about are in danger. Brother will rush in to fight that knight, I know it! But I won't let him go alone, so... If you have anything that can help me, please, give it to me!

Deirdre: Ah, that is why you did not turn to Rhys... Does anyone else know your intentions?

Mist: N-No. They'll probably try to stop me.

Deirdre: ...

If Mist does not have an A rank in swords:

Deirdre: Very well. Please wait a moment.

(Deirdre leaves)

(Deirdre returns)

Mist: Oh, thank you Miss Deirdre! I'll repay you as soon as I can.

Deirdre: That won't be necessary, Mist. It's my own irrational fears that drive me to fight, so I understand you. I understand you very well...

Deirdre: But please, come back alive. Even if you must drag your brother away from that knight, the two of you must return.

Mist: I swear. I won't lose anyone else to that monster!

(You got a Physic Staff!)

If Mist has an A rank in swords:

Deirdre: ... Wait a moment, please. I must fetch something.

Mist: Okay?

(Deirdre leaves)

(Deirdre returns)

Mist: This is...

Deirdre: An acquaintance of mine happens to be a blacksmith. This is only a prototype, but... If you truly wish to fight beside Sir Ike, it would do well to have a proper sword. Though fragile, this blade will support your allies in the field. Please, use it well.

Mist: I... I don't know what to say... I can really have this?

Deirdre: I... Understand your reasoning. It is in line with some of my own. As a practitioner of magic, I cannot fight on the front lines despite my wishes. You, however, have talent for blade work. Do not ignore it.

Deirdre: I will give you this blade, so long as you swear to me you, and your brother will return alive. Even if you must drag him back by force... Do not lose your life to that knight. I beg of you.

Mist: I... I swear! Thank you, Miss Deirdre. I won't let that monster take anything else from me!

(You got a Crown Sword!)

Notes:

The Crown Sword is basically just the King Sword from Thracia 776 with like 10 uses and half the might. There will be more instances of nerfed Fe4/5 weapons and items further down the line. Plus a new tome or two. If I get that far.

Chapter 9: Epilogue - PoR

Summary:

Deirdre speaks with an old friend.

Notes:

This is kinda just self indulgence lol

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Sephiran: ...

Sephiran: It is good to see you, old friend.

Deirdre: Lord Sephiran, I am pleased to see you well...

Sephiran: What ails you, milady? You're not your usual self.

Deirdre: ... My lord Sephiran... What will the Apostle do now?

Sephiran: ... The Apostle is planning an investigation, one that will likely take years to bear fruit. As for Crimea, since General Ike declined aid from General Zelguis, her fate lies entirely in Queen Elincia's hands.

Deirdre: ... What of Daein?

Sephiran: ... Is... She there?

Deirdre: ...

Sephiran: I... See... Your silence is telling. May I strongly suggest finding the girl and fleeing Daein? With King Ashnard's death, and General Zelguis having no interest in governing, the Senate will have free reign to do as they please.

Deirdre: You... Are not even going to try?

Sephiran: Lady Sanaki has asked me to act as ambassador between the Laguz nations. I will not be available for some time.

Deirdre: ... To avert your eyes...

Sephiran: There is another reason. Excuse me for a moment.

(Sephiran approaches Deirdre)

Sephiran: ... .... ...

Deirdre: Ah!

(Sephiran retreats)

Sephiran: If you do so choose to search for that girl, know that you are welcome among my people. I swear to you, I will do my utmost to protect the two of you.

Deirdre: I... Thank you... I will keep that in mind...

Sephiran: May you be well, my friend.

Deirdre: You as well... Old friend.

(Deirdre leaves)

Sephiran: ... I will not ask for your forgiveness... I only hope you will one day understand...

Notes:

I may have unintentionally made these two foils of each other in my fic notes and I'm honestly all for it.

Chapter 10: A Distant Voice

Summary:

Micaiah receives a letter from her old friend

Notes:

Radiant Dawn time!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Micaiah: ... Oh!

Sothe: Micaiah?!

Micaiah: Sothe, this way! Hurry!

Sothe: Micaiah, wait- what's wrong?!

Micaiah: Nothing! In fact, it's wonderful! Look there! On the horizon!

Sothe: Is that Yune? No... An owl?

Micaiah: Dia! Dia, over here!

Dia: Whoo!

Sothe: Dia? Wait, that's...

Micaiah: Good girl, Dia. Let me see what you have.

Dia: Whoo!

Sothe: Isn't she a messenger of Lady Deirdre?

Micaiah: Yes! She mentioned a trinket she'd been working on in her last letter, this must be it!

Sothe: Sooo.... What does it do?

Micaiah: Let me see... It can detect hidden treasure, and brings good luck.

Sothe: The treasure part is useful, but I don't get the good luck bit. Little charms like that always end up being a scam.

Micaiah: Come now, Sothe. This is Deirdre! She's always kept her word, would you doubt her now?

Sothe: ... No, but how many of her "trinkets" have actually worked?

Micaiah: I... See your point, but it doesn't hurt to try. She's the one who helped me make Thani after all! It took me years to draft the first prototype, and even longer for it to truly work.

Sothe: ...Alright, but I prefer to stay cautiously optimistic.

(You got a Thief Ring!)

Notes:

The Thief Ring increases the chances of getting buried treasure by *insert bullshit Biorythm stuff* and increases Luck +5 because wow Sothe's Luck was screwed over in RD

Small edit: those cavities were cement stains from my braces. I forfeited everything sweet in my life for no reason.

Chapter 11: Raise The Standard

Summary:

Micaiah encounters another one of Deirdre's students

Notes:

Volug is actually hilarious in the support prompt things. My favorite is his C addressing prompt

"Hey. You ever wonder what would happen if I just ate everyone we fought? Would the rest keep fighting?"

His inclusion is mostly self indulgence, like basically every one of these base conversations.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Volug: ... Grrr.

Micaiah: Volug, what's wrong?

Volug: We are being watched.

Micaiah: ... Yes, I can sense them... They don't seem like a threat.

Volug: Stay here, I will catch them.

Micaiah: Ah, wait. Please don't scare them too badly.

Volug: I'm a giant wolf, but I can try.

(Volug leaves)

???: ...

???: AAH! SWEET MOTHER OF-

(Volug reappears)

Micaiah: Volug!

Volug: I barely did anything.

Lir: Oh, you're just a Laguz... A rude Laguz, but not a wild animal.

Micaiah: I'm so sorry, Sir, he didn't mean-

Micaiah: Hm? ... Wait... You are...

Lir: I'm what?

Lir: ... Well. Aren't you two an odd pair?

Micaiah: I... I'm Micaiah, it's a pleasure to meet you.

Lir: I know who you are. Hard not too. I'm Lir, something of a blacksmith. Maybe you've heard of me from our mutual benefactor?

Micaiah: Benefactor? Oh, you mean Deirdre! Are you the smith that's been helping her with those items?

Lir: The very same. I've come to lend my hammer, if you require.

Volug: So this is the man responsible for the arcane weapons? He is very thin, how does he swing a hammer?

Micaiah: Come now, Volug, don't be rude.

Lir: With great effort.

Micaiah: You speak the old tongue?

Lir: It's essential to manufacturing Lady Deirdre's designs.

Lir: At any rate, I'll be pitching my tent on the far side of camp. Come by if you have need of my services, alone, preferably. Enchanted weapons take long to make, and require more resources than normal metal.

Micaiah: I see. I'll speak with the merchants to see if you can get you anything.

Lir: I'd like to keep as low profile as possible, thank you.

Micaiah: Oh...

Lir: Also, it's easier to enchant older weapons than newer ones. Particularly ones that have seen much use by their wielders. However, I can't make tomes without Lady Deirdre's input. Spirits are fickles things, and I'm certain you'd prefer this camp fire free.

Volug: We very much do.

Micaiah: Yes, please take care not to cause any magical mishaps.

Lir: I promise nothing. Until next time then.

(Lir leaves)

Volug: He's like a young pup snapping at his pack mates.

Micaiah: ...

Notes:

Lir is the background OC to explain away the bullshit weapons. In game I imagine going to him with almost broken items, combining them to get a nerfed version of an Fe4 weapon(mainly swords), and repairing the Dawn Brigade's unique weapons. I also like to think it would cost two coins for each forge.

He stays in Daein because Micaiah needs all the help she can get.

Chapter 12: A Gathering Hope

Summary:

Izuka meets a certain "obstacle"

Notes:

Watching Izuka is so infuriating because every character's IQ suddenly drops around him(WHY WOULD YOU TELL HIM ABOUT MICAIAH'S FORESIGHT SOTHE) but he's also so funny to see fail.

A thing to keep in mind: Deirdre is VERY upset with this man and has nuked him once already. It is on sight with this man for her.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Izuka: Rrgh, curse that maiden! Planting ideas in that boy's head... The nerve! She dares to refuse me and now struts about giving orders?! Stupid child...

Azelle: Take care your words, milord. The spirits here excite easy.

Izuka: AARGH!! You- you dare?! Who are you?! How dare you question me?!!

Azelle: A humble sage, milord. One concerned with the safety of the very maiden you curse.

Izuka: Grrrrr... Another one of her fanatics, eh? Hurmph!! We'll see how your benevolent leader fairs, I am well within my rights to hang the girl if I so choose! Send a dozen of you worms! It matters not, you'll only be an inconvenience.

Azelle: Inconvenience? ...Is that limp of yours an inconvenience as well?

Izuka: Urk! Y-you're... One of hers?!

Azelle: Incorrect. I merely seek amendment. This favor I do plays into that fantasy of mine. I have no love for violence, not anymore... But I will protect what I have left, and that is very little. So allow me to speak plain...

Azelle: I've met your ilk before, played into their hands. That cost me everything, and I do not take kindly to history repeating. On my blood, I swear this: See these children as pawns and not even ash will remain, Lord Izuka of Bengion.

Izuka: ... Rrrr...

Azelle: Til we met again, milord.

(Azelle leaves)

Izuka: Rrrraaaaggghhhk!!!

(Izuka leaves)

(Sothe appears)

Sothe: ...

Sothe: ... Pfft!

Notes:

Azelle's only been in Telluis for 3 years, but he survived all the way to Gen 2 in this AU. So, Like Reinhardt, he may be a tad OOC.

Also, all characters from Jugdral have an accent that nobody else in Telluis has. I decided to portray this by ✨fancy talk✨ or at least noticably more formal than others.

Soren and Micaiah have hints of this accent too, for future reference.

Chapter 13: Glory Unwanted

Summary:

A general and sage come to an agreement.

Notes:

I like the think Azelle learned the harder words first because he likes the challenge (I headcanon him as a bit of a genius). And he knows how nobles can get, so he wants every preparation against them.

Plus he's Arvis's brother, and if there's anything he learned from that guy, it's contingency plans are necessary.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Reinhardt: ... We are comrades, there is no need to sneak about, stranger.

Azelle: Forgiveness, then, good sir. You simple carry a familiar air, one not oft found in this country.

Reinhardt: Familiar?... Ah, one of Lady Deirdre's?

Azelle: Partly so, she and I are siblings by marriage. I am called Azelle, a sage of fire, and newly recruited to this Liberation Army.

Reinhardt: Well met, Lord Sage. I am General Reinhardt of Marado. Though I opposed the late king, my blade and thunder now seek to halt the Empire's abuse.

Azelle: A noble goal.

Reinhardt: One not shared?

Azelle: Partly. Atonement, obligation, and my own conscience drive my actions. One would not see battle, if not for this debt I owe.

Reinhardt : Not even to safeguard Lady Deirdre's child?

Azelle: Guarding one's back, I find, takes precedent.

Reinhardt: You speak of Lord Izuka.

Azelle: I speak of many. Daein as never been tolerant, many a generation will pass before this is rectified. All I am able to do now is ensure the seeds are planted and not uprooted prematurely.

Reinhardt: I understand, Lord Sage. So long as Prince Pelleas seeks that man's "wisdom", I hesitate to turn my eyes away for even a moment. Doubly so after young Tormod and company have joined, still I shudder at the thought of that dreadful tower...

Azelle: Then go, General. I would ask you to watch over the young ones in my stead, so I may ensure Izuka does not impair our comrades. I vow to you, my flames will stop any attempt to harm this army.

Reinhardt: ... As you will, my lord. We shall return victorious and unharmed, that is my vow to you.

Notes:

Yeah, Azelle puts a stop to Izuka's poisoning attempt, and begins created a wedge between him and Pelleas.

This man reminds him of the Loptour Priests and he is NOT happy.

Chapter 14: One Survives

Summary:

Micaiah speaks with the mysterious sage.

Notes:

I am very tempted to add movement stars and FUC to this via items...

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Micaiah: Sigh... Finally, a moment to breathe...

Azelle: Take care not to fly too far, little bird.

Micaiah: Waah!! S-sir Azelle?!

Azelle: An unnecessary formality. I merely saw fit to dissuade any... potentially harmful events.

Micaiah: S- Azelle... I'm just going for a walk, what's the harm in that?

Azelle: A certain scholar commands the dark. One would behoove you to remember his temperament.

Micaiah: Hmm. He has been on edge lately...

Azelle: A contribution of ours, one might say. Panicked foes are most unpredictable, one may add. Solitude is ill advised during such times.

Micaiah: ... Times that require both tome and sword within arms reach?

Azelle: One cannot trust scholars of fell magicks so readily.

Micaiah: ... Your heart says as much... In general, but especially Izuka... There is something about him you find repulsive...

Micaiah: He reminds you of someone... There's so much grief and... Anger in your heart... You genuinely hate this man.

Azelle: ... Aye. Forgiveness, if one is overbearing. That man has already tempted fate once, I would think him depraved enough to do so again.

Micaiah: No, I should apologize, I shouldn't have said anything. I can't control it, but it still feels wrong to look inside someone without their consent. Especially if they're hurting.

Azelle: That you care to look tells me much, young one.

Micaiah: You... Aren't upset?

Azelle: No. Your power is your blood, as fire is mine. I cannot ask you to deafen yourself as much as I cannot smother my flames. Temperance, however, may be what you seek.

Micaiah: Mother tells me as much, though I can't help but at least try to aid those in need. Even if they slap away my hand.

Azelle: You are much like Deirdre, in that regard. One finds it pleasing.

Micaiah: Thank you, I take pride in her teachings.

Azelle: That is good... But one has kept you long enough. You are exhausted, go, rest. Little ones need all the energy they can.

Micaiah: Azelle, I am hardly a child!

Azelle: To sister and I, you are. Catch.

Micaiah: Ah!

Azelle: Take care, Micaiah. Be wary of the dark, particularly it's schemes.

(You got a Speedwing!)

Notes:

Me, chanting: Don't add Lachises to the Greil Mercenaries. Don't add Lachises to the Greil Mercenaries. Don't add Lachises to the Greil Mercenaries. Don't add Lachises to the-

Brain: But what if before PoR?

Me: ... Damnit.

This may come up later

Chapter 15: Daein, Arise!

Summary:

Three veterans prepare for a siege.

Notes:

I'm alive! Burnout hit my like a truck then my internet died, it didn't help this chapter kept wrestling with me. I've had to write it about 3 times to be satisfied. Even then, I'm not completely okay with this one, but it's been like a week so...

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Reinhardt: I understand, milady, the Black Knight shall not leave my sight.

Deirdre: Thank you, General. You may resume preparations.

(Reinhardt leaves)

Azelle: Tormod and crew will monitor Izuka, Lady Almedha has her guards, Lady Jill and Sir Zihark will remain by the wolves, and I've conjured a ward around camp.

Deirdre: I will add my own, to be safe.

Azelle: There is such a thing called "too safe", my sister.

Deirdre: Not when men like that are involved...

Azelle: ... Aye... But one would like to believe in thy fellows. The young prince is enamored by your lessons, he will no longer indulge Izuka so readily.

Deirdre: Yet, he cannot be rid of him, else he loses a valuable ally to the throne.

Azelle: You've a plan for that?

Deirdre: I do. I shall leave once the fighting calms.

Azelle: Come now, you haven't seen your daughter in years! Will you not consider a farewell? I imagine celebrations will be quite grand afterwards... Provided we live.

Deirdre: I... I will not leave immediately. Merely when the sun falls, or when festivities die. I've the time, Azelle, I'll not leave so abruptly again.

Deirdre: Besides, I still have this. It would make an excellent victory token. Though, my hand my be forced this day if things turn sour.

Azelle: A coming of age gift? My, has it been that long? Time here seems a fickle thing for our blood.

Deirdre: It does indeed...

(You got a Silver Circlet!)

Notes:

I've had a thought: Deirdre with a Greek accent.

This is a very short one but... It's the 35th anniversary so I wanted to put SOMETHING out there

Notes:

Since I've vanished I've gotten sick, had a period stretch out 3 entire weeks, had surgery, and am current praying a branch doesn't fall on my house because of the severe weather.
