Work Text:
Fadel held Style close, his hands wrapped around his neck tightly, swinging them softly in a slow motion to music, as tears spilled from his eyes one by one and in his head he repeated only one phrase heard from his brother.
“Fadel, they are the snitches.”
Yet, he wasn’t able to let go of him. He held him close hoping it was all a bad dream that was going to pass. He was going to wake up again in Style’s bed, wrapped with him in a tight embrace, eat breakfast with his father, this time making a good impression on him, and it would all be alright.
Yet, when he opened his eyes, they were still at a restaurant. Still dancing to this same steady rhythm.
“Wanna go to my place tonight?” Style murmured into his skin with a smirk. Fadel hesitated. After what he just learned he could swear Bison would not be happy if he didn’t find him home, if he found out he went with Style anyways, but at the same time, he felt like if he left Style tonight, it would be the last time they saw each other. He was not ready for that, so he just nodded his head into Style’s shoulder.
Style moved away, freeing himself from Fadel’s embrace, as he quickly wiped his cheeks, so the other couldn’t see his tears. Style tilted his head, looking at him. “Are you okay?”
Fadel responded with silence and Style did not dare to push further. They closed the restaurant together and set off back to Style’s house.
The dim lights lit up around Style’s room as Fadel laid down on his soft sheets. He realized that in this bed he somehow felt more comfortable than on his own. It grew on him, felt more familiar and welcome. He also didn’t feel so lonely, always having someone by his side. And only in this bed could he spend time with his lover like this.
Style took off his crop top slowly, as he approached Fadel with a smirk. He took his time kissing his neck and collarbones, the outline of his jaw, finally getting to his sweet lips, exploring every part of his upper body as if he didn’t memorize it all already by heart. He smirked into his skin and leaned to look him in the eyes as he said “Today, love me, as if it’s the last night.”
His voice sounded so soft, but there was something off about it too. As if it was too soft, like Style actually meant it, like it was really their final goodbye. Fadel didn’t want that. He raised his eyebrows upon hearing it but before he could question anything, he found himself caught up in a kiss shared with Style again. It seemed sweeter and less rushed than usual, as if the romantic atmosphere from before transformed into something more intimate inside the space of Style’s room. Fadel took it to heart as he embraced him tightly, his hands roaming around Style’s naked back.
That night their neighbours could hear two lovers getting lost in the heat of their intertwined bodies, feelings and racing hearts.
Afterwards, only their heavy breaths could be heard inside the room. Fadel looked up at Style and smiled, his eyes getting smaller as he gazed at his boyfriend. He smiled back gently, opening his arms in an invite Fadel was not able to reject that night. If that was really their last, he was going to make out the most of it. Although the atmosphere was tense, as if they could cut it with a knife, and Style could swear there was something off with Fadel from the very beginning, he didn’t feel uncomfortable hugging him like this. Silence was good once in a while. Laying down together, Style played with Fadel’s black locks. He was used to loud noises and talking too much, but now he couldn’t bring himself to start a conversation. Seeing Fadel laying there in silence, hugging him closely with his head near Style’s heart, he couldn’t help feeling a little awkward.
He couldn’t stop the burning feeling in his chest that was eating him alive.
He thought about Fadel’s confession at the restaurant earlier. “I think I’m falling in love with you” he said in a soft tone and shy gaze and Style wasn’t sure how to react. He wasn’t even able to express how happy and content it made him feel. For some time now his relationship with him was something more than just a bet over a stupid car. Fadel started to grow on him and even when Kant warned him about falling in love with a criminal, Style couldn’t help but fall for him even more. Almost as if there was an invisible string that pulled him towards Fadel more and more every time. He thought he could easily return the confession if he wanted, which made him feel even more confident.
There was only one thing that stopped him.
“Fadel.” he said, suddenly breaking the silence, surprising himself that he actually began to talk. A flow of surging bravery flooded his heart with warmth. “You remember when I told you I want to be your 100%?”
Style made up his mind about saying this for a while now. He also wanted to make the most out of this possibly last night of theirs. He decided to gamble with his destiny. He felt like all of the sudden he was ready to risk his life to try and fight for this love. Like this confession gave him wings.
Fadel nodded and Style gave him a light smile. “I feel like for that to happen, there’s something I have to tell you. But I’m actually kinda scared.”
Fadel tilted his head slightly, opening his eyes more, giving him his whole attention. On the other hand, Style didn’t dare to even look at him. There was silence again and Fadel thought, maybe he changed his mind. Maybe he wasn’t brave enough to fight for them. Yet, all of a sudden, Style said. “I know about your other job.”
Fadel suddenly sat up while Style remained frozen in place, staring blankly at the ceiling, too scared to even move his head an inch.
“What?”
I’m so dead, Style thought. Yet, for some reason, that didn't scare him anymore. The thought of being killed by his lover may have sounded even a little romantic to him. He sat up and looked Fadel in the eyes. “I’ve known for a while, but not from the beginning. I was hoping you would let me explain.”
Fadel looked around as if he was completely lost. But that didn’t seem like a shock of a reveal. More like a gaze of someone who didn’t expect him to actually say it out loud. Style smiled sadly. “You knew I knew, right? I think I figured why you were acting so weird today.”
Fadel nodded his head very slowly. That felt like a fever dream. A shiver ran down his spine. Yet, he let Style talk.
He took a deep breath before he began. "It all started because Kant wanted Bison and I wanted his car."
Style started talking like he was in a mania. He confessed everything right from the beginning, maybe even with too many details for Fadel’s liking. He even explained exactly what god damn model of a car Kant drove and why he wanted it so much. Fadel stared at him with his eyes opened wide but didn't interrupt with a word. He decided to listen to everything Style had to say and then make his own judgement.
Instead, he observed thoroughly the way Style behaved. The way he moved his hands while talking, how he didn’t keep an eye contact with him, instead staring at everything else he could. The way his tone of voice changed depending on which part of the story he was explaining at the time. The way sweat ran down his neck. Fadel didn’t think he was lying - his story was too long and detailed to be made up in a moment. So he either memorized it all with perfection or was telling the truth.
“And that’s basically all.” he said finally with a nervous gulp. “I think we are finally on the same page.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Fadel asked, tilting his head, very calmly, but inside, his heart was racing. “Aren’t you afraid? You do know what being a hitman means, right?”
“Are you kidding me? I'm scared as fuck that you will just grab a gun and shoot me between the eyes.” Style exclaimed maybe a little louder than he intended to. He covered his mouth with an awkward smile. “But at the same time I realized... You're dearer to me than my friendship with that freak. So it might be worth the risk.”
Fadel stared at him with his eyes wide open. “And you are… Okay with it?”
Style nodded hesitantly. “I mean, I’m not happy with you killing people for a living, but no work is demeaning or anything…” he smiled awkwardly. “Like I said, no matter who you are, I still like you all the same.”
Fadel didn’t know what to say. For the first time in his life he got accepted for who he actually was, just like that. A feeling he thought would never be present in his entire life, he got to experience with a person he expected it from the least. A single tear fell down his cheek as he made his way to embrace Style tightly. "I can't believe you annoyed the shit out of me over a damn car.”
“It’s not just any car, you know.” Style smirked as he hugged him back.
They stayed like this and Fadel wanted this moment to never end. He wanted to stay like this with his Style forever.
He wasn’t one to trust just anyone easily. He didn’t trust anyone at this point, distancing himself and closing himself up, building a wall around himself and not letting anyone in. Style wasn’t an exception, but the thing was, he was shameless enough to just simply not care, ruin the wall and get into his personal space just like that. He didn’t like any of it at first. But as the time passed he couldn’t imagine his day without Style anymore, to the point of anxiety over what will happen if he finds out the truth. Yet, the outcome was better than anything he imagined before.
“What are your plans for the future?” Style asked with a little of hesitance in his voice as he moved away from the embrace.
“We have one last job to finish and we quit.” Fadel said, breathing out heavily. “I will let Bison deal with Kant himself… And then, we will be finally able to live normal lives, like we always wanted.”
Style let Fadel rest his forehead on his chest as he massaged the back of his neck slowly. He leaned down to kiss the top of his head. “That sounds great. We will be together, without any worries then?”
Fadel straightened his back and nodded slowly. He smiled, looking at Style’s face. Then he moved, to hug him again. “But before that… You know Bison knows the truth, right? You are not safe anymore.”
His eyes darkened as he hugged Style tightly. “I have to hide you from the whole world.”
