March 22nd 2088 AKW - Somewhere nearby Mt Silver
It was a very pleasant morning that day as the sun’s rays poked through the canopy and illuminated a forest like area in western Kanto not far from Mt Silver.
At the other end of said forest would host an archaeological site. The ruins of a small ancient civilization with the only standing structure being a shrine. The site was fairly busy at this moment with several archeologists carrying out an expedition
The head of the expedition would make his way into the shrine where everyone was currently based with a slightly concerned look on his face.
???: “Men, I have some urgent news”.
The rest of the men would look towards him with either worried or curious expressions.
???: “Some of our sponsors are going to arrive here at any moment and they expect to see progress on our findings. Has there been any breakthroughs?”.
A tall bearded man would then step up towards him
???: “We’ve been able to recover something actually. It seems to be a fossil of some kind, but it’s nothing like we’ve ever seen before. Do you have any idea on what this could be Spencer?” The man would say pointing him towards the table set up in the centre of the room.
Spencer would slowly walk towards the table and glance at the fossil in question with his blue eyes. It had a very strange eyelash like shape to it as well as an ominous green glow
Spencer: “Now this is certainly unlike anything I’ve seen before” he’d say as he scratched his head. “Maybe this is the ancient Mew fossil. Where did you find this Jones?”
Jones: “Our sensors picked up an anomaly round the back of this shrine. So we simply dug it up. I do hope these clients of yours take interest in this”.
Spencer: “We shall see”.
Right at that moment, a deep voice could be heard coming from the entrance to the shrine
???: “Spencer Hale”.
The man who just uttered the name would immediately make his way inside the shrine entrance followed by two others. All three men sported black berets on their heads as well as shirts and trousers that were fully black with the exception of the massive red Rs at the front of the shirts. They also sported Red collars around their necks. Their dark clothing being a complete stark contrast to the beige coloured archeology wear everyone else in the room was wearing.
Spencer Hale: “I take it you must be our clients?”
The black haired man of the three would step up.
“That is correct. My name is Ken” he would say before pointing to the other two men beside him “and this is Al and Harry. I take it you’ve heard of Team Rocket correct?”
The other archeologists would start whispering each other upon seeing the Rocket Trio’s arrival with a mix of shock and concern “The clients are part of Team Rocket?” “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” “Aren’t these guys like a mafia of sorts”.
Spencer would nod his head.
Spencer Hale: “Yes. I believe we’ve heard some whispering about you” He’d say as he motioned everyone else in the room to remain calm.
Ken: “Alright then. Let’s get down to business” Ken would then walk up towards Spencer. “Do you have the fossil?”.
Spencer would immediately show him towards the table carrying the strange fossil.
Spencer: “Well, this is what we’ve found. Does this look up to your liking?”.
The other two Rocket Trio members would walk up to the table and glance at the fossil.
Al: “That is it! The ancient Mew Fossil”.
Spencer Hale: “So this is a Mew Fossil. Hmmmmm, well if this is what your after then do feel free to take it. But I do have a serious question though. Your organization from what I’ve heard has been a minor nuisance throughout Kanto. Why exactly do you people want to possess something as rare as a Mew Fossil?”.
Harry: “Oh we don’t plan on being a nuisance any longer. Having this fossil will change everything”. He’d say as he stepped forward.
Al: “That doesn’t tell him anything Harry”.
Ken: “No bickering you two. Allow me to explain”. Ken would then start pacing around the room “You see, our leader has partnered up with scientist Dr Fuji to create a living breathing replica of Mew” He’d say eying a mural depicting Mew at the back of the shrine before snapping a photograph of it “One that when in the right hands will hold an incredible amount of power to be used for a brave new world”.
All the archeologists including Spencer and Jones would all look at each other with many looks of skepticism.
Ken: “Furthermore, Dr Fuji also has aspirations of his own from all this. With the use of this fossil, he will finally be able to create Pokémon that can fully survive the process which many of his experiments have failed to in the past. Perhaps, those breakthroughs could even lead to unlocking the secrets to restore life itself”.
Spencer Hale: “So what you’re saying, is that you’re planning to use this fossil to clone Mew?”.
Al: “Precisely”.
Harry: “We’re talking scientific discoveries here” .
Jones: “You’re all mad the lot of you!” The man would shout. “This is messing with the laws of nature. You speak of all this as if it’s for good, but I know your organization’s reputation. I don’t have any trust in what any of this is you hear!”.
Ken: “Oh? Well I can see why you have doubts, but may I remind you of our deal that you all agreed to? It’s no good to break a promise” Ken would then utter in an almost mocking tone.
Spencer Hale would look towards the Trio and back to the fossil before he reluctantly picked up the fossil and handed it to them.
Jones: “Spencer! You’re gonna let them?!” He’d immediately yell in disbelief.
Spencer Hale: “I can’t break our deal. But I must say though, I do have some concern in this goal of yours. Only time will tell what will come out of this. Besides, who even knows if this fossil will be enough to actually ensure this supposed cloning process will succeed or not”.
Ken: “Thank you for your service Mr Hale. We shall see if it does succeed or not, but it would mean a lot of good if it did. Anyways, I bid you all good day” Ken would then hand Spencer a solid payment before making his way out with Al and Harry following him.
Jones: “Spencer? Why would you give it to them?”.
Spencer Hale: “Listen, I don’t particularly trust Team Rocket either, especially with what they described, but if we kept this away from them, they would’ve most likely have used force which we’re unfortunately very ill prepared for”.
Jones: “Well, what should we do now? I mean it’s quite scary that this is what our exposition ended up being for in the end”.
Spencer Hale: “Well, not to panic. I’m still in contact with the good Professor of Pallet Town. I’ll let him know of this as soon as possible. With him knowing, word can spread around quickly, and that way, we can potentially be prepared if this all ends up becoming a major threat”.
Jones: “Well, I can’t say no to that”.
At that moment, a strange shadow seemingly shaped like Mew could be seen where the sun shone into the shrine for a split second which everyone in the room would quickly see and react to.
Jones: “Great Scott! What was that?!”
Spencer Hale: “I have no idea……. Could it be?”
Outside the shrine, something pink would immediately fly away from the area straight in the direction of the looming Mt Silver towering over the site.
