“siryn over here” lilly raises her voice as the sound of her cane tapping filled the echoing hallway of a daycare. “are you sure they’ll like me? i mean i-i don’t think i’m great with kids…” siryn chuckles nervously as he caught up with his blind friend. “oh please, these kids like everyone!” small feet tapping could be heard getting closer and closer until a high pitched voice screamed “miss lillian!!!” a young girl bolted down the hall and ran straight into lily almost knocking her to the ground. “oh goodness..hey megan..” lilly said as caught her breathe. she picked the younger girl up and continued walking down the hall to a classroom. “hey megan, this is siryn.” she pointed to the brown haired boy next to her. he gave a little wave. ”he’s my friend so you have to be nice ok?” the little girl nodded with a large smile. “hi siryn! can you play dress up with me?” she said happily. “oh uhm sure!” Siryn chuckled as lilly rocked the child on her hip. when they finally found themselves at a classroom door lilly pulled on it, locked. she fumbled in her pocket as she tried not to drop the kid she was still carrying until finally she pulled out a clip filled with keys. “would you grab the one with the film, i think it’s polka dotted” siryn grabbed the keys from her hand and opened the door as he was told with the key. when they opened the door all the kids turned their heads, megan shimmied out of lilly’s grasp and back into the room. “miss lillian’s here!” she announced to the class of atleast 20 toddlers. they all crowded over pulling both siryn and lilly into the room, quickly they were both dragged to other ends of the class room. megan dragged siryn into a corner filled with dresses and play makeup. “what’s your favorite princess mister siryn?” she asked. “oh gosh i don’t know..how about you pick for me ok?” her smile grew three sizes as she crazed through the box of dresses. eventually she pulled out a few pink and sparkly dresses that were definitely too small for him. “kid i don’t know if it’ll fi-“ she threw a dress at him, shutting him up. “put it on!” the little girl practically demanded. with a sigh, siryn obliged. he carefully tried to slide the dress over his arms but it didn’t exactly close up in the back. the skirt came just over where his stomach was. it was clearly tight. megan smiled and pulled him over to where lily was.
“wow this is very good..thank you connor she said nodding at a little boy. megan tapped her on the shoulder with a smile. “i put mister siryn in a dress!” she said proudly. lilly chuckled and turned around to face them. “times like these are when i wish i could see. now pose for micha.” she said pulling out her phone. “no no no please-!” she quickly took a picture before siryn had covered the phone with his hands. “hey siri, send this picture to my contact micha” she said with a sly smirk. siryn squealed in embarrassment and lily winced with her sensitive hearing “shit- shoot. sorry lil..” siryn apologized. “don’t sweat it” lily smiled and stood up. “so i assume the kids like you?” she chuckled. “i guess so..” replied siryn as he tried to ply off the dress. “hey kiddo, can i take this off?” he asked the little girl to the side of him. “fine..you’re no fun!” she pouted and crossed her arms in a disapproving manner. “am too!” siryn replied as he struggled to pull off the tight pink dress. lillian just laughed at the two of them, her arms crossed as she shook her head.
as time passed they found themselves at a table making bracelets, these kids told them just insane things about their lives. as siryn beaded his bracelet, a kid across from him just spoke without warning “my mommy said to my daddy that she was going to eat his meat” lilys eyes widened and she tried not to laugh “what did we say about thinking before we speak dear..?” siryn snickered until megan tapped them both on the shoulder. she handed them both a matching bracelet that matched with hers “i have a gift!” she said as she slipped it onto both of their arms. it was green beads with a yellow star as the center point. siryn smiled as he admired his wrist. “thank you megan!” he said. “ya, thanks hun” mirrored lilly. “of course! yall are married right? i mean i didn’t see rings so i just made them.” megan said proudly. lilly just about burst out laughing while siryn’s mouth fell agape. “did you..” she laughed again “…really think that..!?” siryn’s head fell into his hands as she sighed with a shocked smile. “..are you not..?” megan asked. “n-no..sweetie. we’re just friends.” megan frowned and walked away. lilly just kept laughing as she fell into siryn, lying on his shoulder. “dude i love you and all but you’ve got micha” she snickered and finally sighed as she sat back up. “she actually thought we were a couple?” siryn said with a small chuckle. “guess so..” lilly grabbed her cane off the floor and went to go find megan to give her an educational talk about how girls and boys adam just be friends as well as dating. siryn just looked at the bracelet and smiled.
after a while it was getting late and siryn found lily with a yawn. “when do these kids get picked up?” he asked “just another ten minutes, a few have already left.” siryn gave a simple “mhm” then wandered off to the staff room as lily managed the parents and pick up. “bye kiddo! see you next week” lily smiled as she sent kid after kid back with their parent. as time passed the daycare cleared out, it was just siryn and lily picking up blocks or whatever else was on the floor. finally when everyone was gone snd everything was picked up lily sighed. “thanks for coming to work with me, and driving us” she said. siryn yawned and nodded. “course! it always fun to see you and i’ve learned im not terrible with kids.” he chuckled as the began to find their way out of the building. they walked and walked through the endless hallway until they were out. they found siryn’s car and he drove lilly home. she thanked him and walked into her house where she was greated by her two dogs and three cats. siryn drove back home to micha and the rest is history (something i haven’t written bc i ran out juice)
