i’m a artistic roller skater and also a girl with a spider-man obsession so i had to write this
“Sometimes, the best way to swing through life is to skate your own path.”
Peter Parker was Spider-Man, but when he wasn’t swinging around Queens stopping crime, he found peace in artistic roller skating. You might think it’s insane, but the feeling of gliding effortlessly with the wind in his face was something that he could never get tired of. It was like when he was on wheels, he had no responsibilities, so when MJ had asked him about it, he knew he had to take her.
They caught the bus after school to go to Peter’s usual rink, ‘Rolling Through Life.’ It wasn’t too busy but wasn’t too empty.
They got MJ some rented skates, but Peter already had his own. They sat down, tying the laces, and Peter put on his skate covers, which were Spider-Man themed. Call him full of himself, but he liked them, and they did the job.
“So, Peter,” MJ started, finishing tying her laces, “why did you start skating?”
“Well, it was my aunt that made me get into it. She said I needed to get a hobby, so I took skating classes and ended up falling in love with it. My coach actually asked me to do derby skating because he said my balance and speed were perfect for it, but my other coach had also approached me about artistic roller skating, and I chose that.”
he said, finishing fixing his skates
“Why?” MJ said curiously.
“Well, I know artistic roller skating is hard. It’s a mix of dancing, acrobatics, and skating, but it’s truly incredible—the feeling of landing a new trick you’ve been trying to learn for days or how you feel when you just let yourself glide on the rink. It’s like no one else is there; it’s just you and your skates. All your worries just disappear. It really is an art like no other.” Peter rambled on.
“You really love it, don’t you?” MJ smiled.
“Yeah, I do.” Peter smiled back. They stood up. MJ losing balance as they stepped onto the rink, but Peter caught her.
“you have to walk like a penguin”
“A what?” MJ laughed.
“I know it's funny, but seriously, bend your knees and walk like a penguin, and whatever you do, don't look at your skates; you'll lose balance."
As MJ got the hang of it, they skated around the rink, Peter holding MJ's hand in case she fell.
“You know, you're right; this is incredible.” MJ said
“Do you really think so?” Peter smiled.
“Yeah, I really do.”
“AGH,” MJ said, having tripped, but Peter was at her side immediately.
“Wait, don't try to get up; be careful.” he held onto MJ
“kneel and use that knee to stand up carefully” MJ did that, and she stood up easily.
“Wow, Parker, you really should be a coach. You’d be amazing.” She laughed.
“Yeah? well, maybe someday.”
“How many bones have you broken doing this?” she joked
“Oh, only two, but you know, super healing." Peter said like it was normal.
“WHAT!” MJ shouted, then she lost balance.
“Whoa, be careful, honey; we don’t want a broken MJ now, do we?”
“Shut up, Parker.” They both skated around the rink, Peter still having a hold of MJ's hand.
