I. BIG BANG

From the moment the universe was created, the stars whispered secrets of intertwined destinies. In a corner of the cosmos, two souls wandered, united by an invisible thread of eternal love.

It all began with that small blue light dancing gracefully in the idyllic nothingness. This glow carried within it the soul of a splendid boy: Yang Jungwon. Just like him, another golden glow moved alongside the blue, being Lee Heeseung's soul.

There is a story that tells about two stars that orbited each other billions of light-years ago. Both moved in harmony, as if calling each other, and their gravitational dance created a beautiful, radiant display. Star dust surrounded those two bodies, two halves born to be together.

For long seconds they were connected, and in the darkness of that warm night, the Moon rose powerful alongside those newly born, bright souls, with their different dust intertwined, two small stars sharing the same infinity, the blue one with a golden trace; and the golden one with a blue trace, touching clarity before disappearing among auroras, these being the portals to their respective homes.

Nothing that happened that day was a coincidence, for crossing their paths had been like a mathematical formula, a religious commandment, a providence of the cosmos; something that, no matter what, was destined to happen.

Two stars, two worlds, born from the unknown, from a prediction made millions of years ago, when Tellus was just being created.

They only left sparkling particles everywhere, trails of light marking the path where, sooner than later, they would meet again. They were separated and fell to Earth, far from each other. But not as far as they thought, for everything is marked; the day would come when both would return to the place where they belong, on the same orbit, in the same direction; in each other’s arms.

They would form a love that would surpass more than one distance and create a new immensity, and both halves would become one again; reborn among galaxies, bright clouds, and planets, the two of them coexisting.

Purpose fulfilled, a proverb that before life was formed was dictated by the universe; two souls were born together but evolved separately, they reunited and formed one, and they will die together, just as the father sky decreed.

Forever and always, Jungwon and Heeseung.

II. PLANET CONJUNCTION

Imagine a night at the planetarium, where dim lights cast a comforting glow, and stars dance across the sky. Blue and Golden hold hands as soft music fills the space. They sway gently, letting the sound and their love for each other guide their movements. In that moment, everything feels perfect, as if the entire universe conspired to celebrate their love—a reunion of two stars finally together again.

Heeseung is the one that takes the first step to make that encounter come true.

As a Fine Arts student specializing in painting, Heeseung embarks on an exploration of the relationship between art and astronomy for his final semester project; he has always found inspiration in the cosmos. The shapes and colors of nebulae, the structures of galaxies, and the mesmerizing beauty of planets fuel his creativity.

One day, he’s wandering around campus with Sunghoon, when his friend notices a colorful poster on the bulletin board. Sunghoon approaches and sees that it advertises volunteer opportunities at Stellar Haven planetarium. The poster features an impressive image of the starry sky, with constellations gleaming brightly and planets visible on the horizon. The words “Volunteers Needed!” are written in large, eye-catching letters, accompanied by a description calling for individuals to assist with presentations and events.

"Hee, check this out!" Sunghoon calls him out, pointing to the poster for his friend to see.

Heeseung approaches and reads aloud, “Volunteers needed for the local planetarium. Help with presentations and events. Hoon... this could be perfect for me!” His voice fills with enthusiasm.

“You totally should go for it,” Sunghoon encourages, nodding vigorously. “This could really help with your end-of-semester project. Just think about all the cool stuff you could learn and how you could use it.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” He agrees, the poster still in his hands feeling like a good and perfect signal.

Determined to seize this opportunity, Heeseung jots down the contact information and heads to the planetarium that same afternoon after his last class. Anxiety knots in his stomach as he approaches the entrance of the planetarium on that bright, sunny day. Although he’s excited about the opportunity to learn more about the cosmos and fulfill his important project, he feels his palms grow sweaty with each step he takes.

Upon arrival, he goes straight to inquire about the director, coordinator or whoever he could talk to, nervously fidgeting with the hem of his t-shirt. The boy at the front desk calls for someone in charge, and moments later, a slightly tall man appears—sharp angles defining his features but a warm tone as he welcomes him. “Hello, I’m the Second Manager, you can call me Jay. How can I help you?” He asks with a smile lighting his face.

“Hi, I saw the poster about volunteer opportunities and… I’m interested in helping out,” Heeseung manages to stammer, his voice betraying the nervousness swirling inside him.

“Oh, that’s great!” The manager reacts excitedly. “We have several tasks available, from guiding visitors through the exhibits to assisting with the show presentations. What would you like to do?”

“I’d love to help with all you allow me to,” he replies, a shy smile breaking through his nerves.

He’s drawn to the idea of contributing to the planetarium’s educational mission and gaining more knowledge in the process. That’s how he finds himself moments later, sitting at Jay’s cozy office while they talk through a quick interview, mix of hope and anticipation washing over him. He’s across the desk, stack of papers looms in front of him alongside a pen poised for his signature.

“Alright, Heeseung,” Jay begins, “this is the contract. It outlines your responsibilities, the schedule, and some general guidelines. Take your time to read through it, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.”

Heeseung nods and carefully reads through the contract. It details his role in assisting with presentations, guiding visitors, and helping with various events. Three days a week, from midday till 6 pm; it fits seamlessly into his own college schedule.

It seems straightforward, so after a few minutes, Heeseung nods with newfound confidence. “Everything looks good to me.”

“Perfect!” Jay exclaims, handing him the pen. “Just sign here at the bottom, and you’ll officially be part of the planetarium team.”

With fingers trembling a bit, Heeseung signs his name on the contract. As he returns the pen to Jay, he beams, “Welcome to Stellar Haven’s universe, Heeseung. Tomorrow, you’ll be introduced to the rest of the team, and we’ll give you a comprehensive tour of the facilities. You’ll get to know everyone and see all the different areas where you’ll be working.”

“Thank you, Jay. I’m looking forward to this.” Heeseung shares, his excitement shining through his words.

Jay stands up and extends his hand. “We’re glad to have you with us. See you tomorrow!”

Heeseung shakes Jay’s hand, engulfed in a warm embrace of acceptance. This role won’t only provide resources and knowledge but also a steady source of inspiration, much like Sunghoon mentioned. It blends his passion for art with a curiosity about the universe and it’s absolutely perfect for him.

The next day, Heeseung starts his morning like any other. After a quick breakfast, he grabs his backpack and heads out of his dorm. He attends his two classes for the day, takes lunch with Sunghoon as usual and makes his way to Stellar Haven before the clock strikes midday.

Jay is friendly to welcome Heeseung, again. “Hello there. Ready for your first day?”

“Absolutely.” He tries to sound relaxed, though his racing heart betrays him, palms shoved deep in his pockets.

“Okay, let’s start by introducing you to the rest of the team,” Jay says, leading Heeseung down a hallway lined with vibrant posters of galaxies, star charts, and exhibits showcasing a universe waiting to be discovered.

Their first stop is the main office, where Jay introduces Heeseung to Sunoo, a friendly and energetic show presenter. “Sunoo, this is Heeseung, our new volunteer.”

“Hi, Heeseung! Welcome to the team,” Sunoo says, waving his hand while giving him a wide smile. “We’re excited to have you here.”

Heeseung’s tension eases. Sunoo’s warm and enthusiastic greeting masks him to slowly relax. “Thanks, Sunoo.” He returns, a bit more confident.

Continuing on, they reach another area where Jake, the main Exhibit Designer, guides a few staff members setting up a new display about Planet X. “Jake, meet Heeseung, the volunteer I told you about yesterday.”

“Hey, nice to meet you!” Jake greets with an encouraging nod. “If you need any help sometime, I’m your guy.”

Heeseung admires Jake’s calm and approachable demeanor. He can tell that he’s someone who knows his way around the planetarium. “Nice to meet you, too. Thanks—I appreciate it.” He utters, feeling grateful for the support.

As the introductions continue, Jay mentions another key team member. “There’s one more person you should meet, but he’s not here yet. His name’s Jungwon, and he’s our lead show presenter. You’ll get to know him later. He’s a great mentor and has a wealth of knowledge about all this universe.”

Heeseung’s curiosity piques. He nods, anticipating to learn from someone with such expertise.

Jay then leads Heeseung to the projection hall where Riki, one of their Show Technicians, prepares everything for the first presentation of the day. “Ki, this is Heeseung. He’ll be helping with shows and stuff,” Jay informs him.

“Hi! It’s great to have you here.” Riki’s face lights up at the thought of new company. “I’ll show you how everything works while we wait for Jungwon.” He says with a small smile.

“That sounds cool.” He mirrors his grin, excitement bubbling within.

He spends the rest of the next hour shadowing Riki, learning how to operate the equipment for the star shows, and getting familiar with the planetarium’s setup. Riki explains to him how to adjust the projector, control the lighting, and manage the sound system. Heeseung only understands half of all the things Riki exposes to him, but he’s grateful for him to take the time to at least introduce him to some basic stuff.

“Don’t worry, it might seem like a lot at first, but you’ll catch on quickly,” Riki reassures him at the end.

Then, the first presentation soon starts. Riki told him it’s about the different types of stars. Heeseung finds himself among the audience, assisting visitors in finding their seats. The room is dimly lit, with a soft glow emanating from the dome-shaped ceiling.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to our presentation on the classification of stars, and how each one has unique characteristics. First, let’s talk about the main sequence stars. This kind of star is one that's currently fusing hydrogen into helium in its core. This is the longest phase of a star’s life, and it’s when most of its energy is produced.”

Heeseung hears the voice echo through the space, explaining that stars come in a variety of types. Instantly captivated, Heeseung realizes that the guide —he assumes it’s Jungwon— speaks with soothing authority, his explanations clear and passionate and it seems like the very stars are whispering secrets through his words. His warm smile and twinkling eyes reflect his deep love for the cosmos, and Heeseung feels a flutter sparking in his chest at that.

The guide points to the projected image of the Sun on the dome. “Our Sun is a main sequence star. They vary widely in size, temperature and brightness, being the most common type of star in the universe and making up about 90% of the stellar population.”

Heeseung notices the visitors’ eyes following the guide’s hand as he traces the image. A swell of pride and excitement fills him, envisioning how he, too, may inspire others one day.

“Now, let’s move on to Red Giants,” the guide continues. “When a main sequence star exhausts its hydrogen fuel, it expands and cools, turning red. That’s why they are called Red Giants. These stars are much larger and more luminous than main sequence stars, and our Sun is expected to become one in about five billion years.”

He keeps talking, and Heeseung can see the awe and wonder on the visitors’ faces. With each word, Heeseung feels his fascination for the cosmos growing stronger, intricately woven into his own artistic vision.

After about 20 minutes and a quick segment of questions and answers, the presentation comes to an end. The visitors begin leaving the room to continue their tour, while the guide stays behind to tidy up the materials and wait for the next group to come up.

This is the opportunity Heeseung takes to approach and talk to him. Despite his shyness, he decides to congratulate him on the work he has just done. “Your presentation was incredible,” He stammers softly, his lips curving into a timid smile. “I had never understood the stars that way before.”

The guide, surprised and flattered, responds with another smile, showing adorable dimples that Heeseung finds endearing. “Thank you, I’m glad you liked it. I’m Jungwon,” he introduces himself, extending a hand. “Welcome to Stellar Haven. You’re the new volunteer, right?”

Heeseung takes his hand and nods, trying to hide his growing nervousness. “Yeah, I’m Heeseung. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Jungwon notices his hesitancy and decides to do everything possible to make him feel comfortable. “The pleasure is mine. Would you like me to show you around? Jay mentioned that I’m in charge of giving you the tour.”

He already did that, though, is what Heeseung thinks, but instead, “Oh, I’d love that,” he responds, feeling an unexpected comfort in the guide’s kindness.

They walk through the planetarium, Jungwon explaining the different areas and activities that take place there. He shows Heeseung the various projection rooms, where shows about constellations, planets and many other phenomena are held, there’s the observation terrace too, where visitors can admire the clear night sky. As they head towards the exhibits, Jungwon talks about the different displays and interactive features. Heeseung is fascinated by the detailed models of the solar system, the meteorite samples, and the various educational panels about space exploration. He also gets to understand what Jay had told him earlier about Jungwon: he indeed is a passionate person. He tours the planetarium, and can’t help but feel thrilled. The soft lights, the planet models, and the cosmos projections envelop him in a magical atmosphere.

“This place is incredible,” he says, marveling at everything he sees. “I’ve always been fascinated by all this, but never had the opportunity to learn so much about it.”

“I’m glad to hear that. Here, we all share that passion. I’m sure you’ll feel right at home.” Jungwon offers him another encouraging smile. He seems very happy to have someone new to share his knowledge with.

They continue chatting, and Heeseung gets more and more at ease. The conversation flows naturally; Jungwon tells him about his love for the stars and how he decided to work at the planetarium to inspire others. He has been there for three years, forging bonds with everyone on the team. Heeseung, in turn, talks about his passion for art and how he hopes to combine it with his interest in astronomy for his project.

“I think you’re going to fit in perfectly here,” Jungwon says at the end of the tour. “And if you ever need a hand with your project, don’t hesitate to find me.”

“Thank you, Jungwon,” Heeseung responds, feeling a sudden but special connection igniting within him.

After finishing his first day, Heeseung leaves the planetarium, a weight lifted from his shoulders. The kindness and warmth of everyone on the team have dispelled his initial nerves, and now he feels much more comfortable and welcome in the new environment.

A deep-seated curiosity engulfs him, not only about the universe but also about Jungwon. He wants to know more about him, about his dreams and aspirations. He feels there’s much more to discover, both in the cosmos and in his new companion.

There’s a magical connection between them, even if it sounds bizarre. Because although they have just met, there’s something cosmic in their interaction that hints their paths were destined to cross, maybe since the creation of the universe.

He texts Sunghoon about everything as he walks home, a smile lingering on his lips. He knows that his time at Stellar Haven is just the beginning, and he’s grateful with the cosmos to have found someone like Jungwon to share this journey with.

Just like planets in conjunction, the paths of both stars finally intertwine again, and they share a spark of immediate connection.

III. NEBULA

Ever since he was a kid, Jungwon has always been fascinated by the night sky. He clearly remembers the nights he would spend in his backyard, stargazing with his grandfather. He would tell him stories about the constellations and the myths surrounding them, awakening in him an insatiable curiosity for the universe.

On his tenth birthday, his grandfather gave him his first telescope. It was a magical moment for Jungwon. He spent hours observing the moon, some planets and constellations, marveling at the immensity of the cosmos. Each discovery filled him with wonder and made him want to learn more.

So, as he grew up, Jungwon began reading books about astronomy and watching documentaries and programs about space. “Through The Wormhole” being his favorite one. His love for the subject grew stronger during his school years, where he excelled in science and physics classes. He participated in astronomy clubs and attended lectures and workshops whenever he could.

A visit to the local Stellar Haven planetarium during a school field trip when he was fifteen was a turning point for Jungwon. Upon entering, his eyes met a projection that reflected exactly what he felt in his heart: a deep and eternal love, represented in the stars. He knew then and there that this place would be his favorite in the whole world.

The experience of seeing the stars projected on the dome and listening to the guides’ explanations inspired him deeply. He decided he wanted to work in such a place someday, so he could share his passion with others. So, after graduating, coming of age and when he was allowed to work, he applied to join the planetarium’s guides team, and was immediately hired, as no one could deny Jungwon’s immense love for the cosmos and the ease and kindness with which he was willing to teach others. There, he was able to combine his love of astronomy with his desire to educate and inspire, balancing his work alongside his college studies, where he had decided to pursue a degree in Education.

Three years later, at the age of twenty one and almost halfway through his career, he decided to take a gap year. He chose to make the most of his knowledge and passion with visitors, helping them discover the wonders of the universe, before concentrating fully on his professional formation.

There he met his current friends, Sunoo, a reenactor who assisted him in the children’s guides and vacation plans offered by the planetarium. Then came Riki, who was applying his knowledge as an Electronic Engineering student in his position as Technician and Jake, an astrophysicist about to graduate being the main designer of the exhibits team, who joined as part of the staff after him. And last but not least, Jongseong. The owner’s son who recently started to manage the PR area.

With all the workers, guides, and assistants, they form a unique and enthusiastic team whose common goal is to bring the planetarium to life and offer their best services so that visitors and tourists feel comfortable and part of that universe.

Then the new volunteer arrives, joining the team. He’s the first, actually. No one has ever decided to volunteer at a planetarium, not even at Stellar Haven.

That day, Jungwon prepares for the round of shows he has to give during the day when he’s informed that a volunteer will be arriving to help with the presentations and activities. He always enjoys meeting new people who share his passion for the cosmos, so he’s excited about the arrival of this new colleague.

Jungwon sees him, standing captivated by the projection and his mesmerizing presentation, and feels an immediate and profound connection. It’s as if he has known him for a lifetime. The volunteer approaches him, and silence envelops them, yet Jungwon, a steadfast believer in the universe’s ability to intertwine lives, senses that their encounter is fated. The constellations whisper it to him, and the golden star pendant resting against his chest serves as an affirmation.

He takes Heeseung’s hand when they introduce themselves, offering a warm welcome. “I’m Heeseung; it’s a pleasure to meet you,” he says, a shy smile illuminating his face, his doe-like eyes sparkling under the celestial glow.

Noticing the flicker of nervousness in Heeseung’s demeanor, Jungwon feels a surge of empathy wash over him. He recalls his own first days at the planetarium, the exhilarating blend of excitement and anxiety that coursed through him. Determined to make Heeseung feel at ease, he resolves to create a welcoming atmosphere.

As Jungwon guides him through the enchanting facilities, they delve into conversations about their passions and dreams. With each shared story, Jungwon’s curiosity about Heeseung deepens. He observes the boy’s shyness, the way his eyes widen in wonder as he takes in the surroundings, and he can’t help but ponder the stories and aspirations that this blue-haired boy carries within him.

They keep strolling through the captivating exhibits, Jungwon pointing out various displays, sharing interesting facts along the way. “Look! This section is all about the solar system. We have models of each planet, so visitors can learn what makes them unique.”

Heeseung’s eyes light up as he examines the intricate models and the wealth of information around him; Jungwon grins, noticing his enthusiasm. “So... what brings you here? If you don't mind me asking.”

He takes a deep breath, feeling excited to share. “Well, I’m working on a project for my end-of-semester course. It’s about how astronomy influences art and culture. I thought volunteering here would help me understand it better and inspire my project.”

“Oh, that sounds cool." Jungwon’s eyes brighten with interest. "Astronomy has such a big impact on those areas. You’re definitely in the right place to gather all the ideas you need.”

Heeseung nods, feeling encouraged. “Yeah, I want to explore how different cultures see the stars and how that shows up in their art. Being here gives me access to great resources and… people like you.”

His smile widens, clearly impressed by Heeseung’s passion. “I’d love to help however I can. Just ask if you have questions or need guidance. We’re all here to support each other.”

With those words, gratitude fills Heeseung as he realizes he’s found a place where his interests and dreams can truly thrive.

Jungwon thinks about how Heeseung could fit perfectly into the planetarium. He wonders how they could collaborate on creative projects and how Heeseung’s love for art and astronomy could enrich the shows and activities at the planetarium. He also wonders if Heeseung feels the same connection like he does.

By the end of their first interaction, Jungwon feels filled with hope. Hope that Heeseung finds there a place where he can grow and learn to develop his project, and hope that their new working relationship could blossom into something more, perhaps a friendship.

That day, as he walks back to his office, Jungwon can’t help but smile while he caresses his golden star pendant. He knows there’s something special about Heeseung; their meeting feels serendipitous. It’s as if the stars themselves have conspired to bring them together, hinting that their shared journey is destined to be something beautiful.

This first encounter marks the start of a deep and meaningful bond.

☆☆

“Have you ever wondered what those beautiful, colorful clouds in space are?” Jungwon asks one particular afternoon as they set up for the next presentation, pointing to a stunning poster of the Eagle Nebula.

The image showcases the famous Pillars of Creation, with towering columns of gas and dust illuminated by the light of young stars. It's vibrant and detailed, the colors ranging from deep blues and greens to red, creating a mesmerizing and almost otherworldly scene. The background is filled with countless stars, adding to the sense of depth.

Heeseung’s eyes light up as he gazes at the image, his heart pounding with excitement. “Yeah, they’re nebulas, right? I don’t know much about them… but you sure do. Can you share their story with me?”

“Of course,” Jungwon replies, his voice warm and inviting. “A nebula is essentially a giant cloud of dust and gas in space. They can be incredibly beautiful and come in various shapes and sizes.”

Heeseung leans in closer, his curiosity piqued, eager to absorb every detail.

“There are different types of nebulas,” Jungwon explains, his eyes sparkling as the talks about one of his favorite topics. “Some, like the Eagle Nebula, are regions where new stars are being born. These are often called stellar nurseries. This famous Pillars of Creation image from the Hubble Space Telescope is part of the Eagle Nebula.”

Heeseung’s breath catches at the thought. “So, they play a crucial role in the life cycle of stars?”

“Yes, they do,” Jungwon confirms, nodding. “Nebulas provide the raw materials for new stars to form. Over time, gravity pulls the gas and dust together, creating clumps that eventually become dense enough to ignite nuclear fusion and form new stars. But not all nebulas are star-forming regions, though. Some are remnants of dying stars. Like the Helix Nebula, it’s the result of a star like our Sun reaching the end of its life and shedding its outer layers.”

Heeseung smiles, his mind racing with images of the cosmos. “Wow, it’s incredible how much there’s to learn.” He feels a spark of inspiration igniting within him, thoughts of his project swirling in his head. The vastness of the universe feels like an open door, inviting him to explore.

“Ah, it’s a lot of information," Jungwon smiles back. "and once you dive into this, you just want to know more and more. That’s why I’m always here to share what I’ve learned. And one day, you’ll be the one giving these explanations to our visitors.”

Heeseung laughs, a bit shyly, feeling the weight of his inexperience. “I’d like that. But I still need to work on my presentation skills. I’m not quite there yet.”

He chuckles softly, sensing Heeseung’s self-doubt. “We all start somewhere. Just remember, the passion you have for learning is what truly matters. You’ll get there.”

He nods, gratitude washing over him. He feels fortunate to learn from someone as passionate as Jungwon, and the thought of sharing this knowledge with others fills him with hope.

As he gazes back at the poster, he imagines himself standing before an audience, sharing the wonders of the universe, his voice steady and confident. The stars above seem to twinkle in agreement, as if encouraging him on this travel of discovery.

A few weeks had passed since Heeseung arrived at the planetarium, and from the first day they began collaborating, there was a spark of creativity in the air.

At first, both were a bit nervous, each with their own world of knowledge and skills. Heeseung marveled at the vastness of the universe that Jungwon knew so well. Always willing to help, Jungwon became a mentor of sorts for Heeseung, guiding him through the different aspects of working at the planetarium and sharing everything he knew.

Heeseung immersed himself in learning about stars, galaxies, and the techniques that Jungwon used to showcase the cosmos. As he learned more about astronomy, his project began to reflect depth and precision, capturing the beauty of the universe and its projection in art with a unique sensitivity. He also found ways to incorporate the testimonies of the other workers and all the data Jungwon provided him about each topic.

Every night, after the last visitor left and the gallery lights were turned off, they stayed for their learning sessions. These meetings quickly became one of the most anticipated moments of the day for both of them. Jungwon, with his vast knowledge, prepared special presentations and interactive activities to teach Heeseung about the constellations and their myths, ever since that time he asked him what was his favorite thing about the universe.

They were organizing things in their place to wrap up the day when Jungwon looked at Heeseung with curiosity. “You know, I’ve wanted to ask you something since the day we met,” he said, setting aside what he was doing.

“What is it?” Heeseung replied, looking up from where he was picking up some cards they had played with earlier during the show.

“What’s your favorite thing about the universe?” Jungwon asked, smiling, as always.

Heeseung paused for a moment, deep in thought. His heart raced slightly, a mix of excitement and uncertainty. “It’s hard to choose just one thing, but I think what fascinates me the most is how each star and constellation has its own story and meaning. It’s like the sky is a book full of tales.”

“That’s a great way to put it." He said, and then, almost hesitant, he murmured, "Would you like to… learn more about those stories?” Jungwon’s eyes gleamed with anticipation.

“I would love to— but I don’t want to take up too much of your time or bother you.” Heeseung fidgeted with the cards in his hand.

Jungwon moved closer and placed a hand on Heeseung’s shoulder. “Don’t worry about that. I like to share what I know with you. Besides, it’s always more fun to learn together.”

One of those nights, as they settled into their usual spot, Jungwon decided to surprise Heeseung with a session about the Pleiades. He prepared a small activity where, using brushes and fluorescent paint, they would recreate the constellation on a black canvas. The air was filled with the faint scent of paint and the soft hum of the projector illuminating the room, mixing with the low music Jungwon was playing on his phone.

While they were painting, Jungwon narrated the legends of the Seven Sisters. “Did you know that in Greek mythology, the Pleiades were the daughters of the titan Atlas and the oceanid Pleione?” He mentioned, mixing colors on his palette.

“Oh, I don’t know that story. Who were they?” Heeseung asked, focused on his brushstroke, his brow furrowed in concentration.

“The Pleiades were seven sisters, so beautiful and dazzling that many gods and mortals fell in love with them,” Jungwon explained, his mellifluous voice captivating Heeseung’s attention once again. “Orion was one of many; he was the most skilled hunter in the world. He fell in love with all of them and began to chase the sisters with the intention of capturing them forever. So Zeus intervened to protect them and—”

“What, why did you stop?” Heeseung looked at him, intrigued, not understanding why Jungwon had halted the story.

“It’s just that…” Jungwon looked away, slightly blushing and feeling shy. Why am I suddenly so nervous around him? he felt a flutter in his stomach. “I think I’m talking too much, sorry.”

“No!” Heeseung exclaimed, startling Jungwon, who jumped in his seat, almost knocking things off the table with his movement. “I mean, no. It’s fine, I like the stories and I like listening to you, so please tell me what happened after Orion’s attempt to capture them.” He gave him a kind smile, assuring him to keep talking while he returned to his painting, missing the smile that tugged at Jungwon’s own lips.

“Well...” The younger resumed the story, his cheerful tone returning to him. “Zeus intervened before it was too late and decided to turn them into stars to protect them. That’s how they became a star cluster in Taurus constellation. And each of them has its own name: Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, Merope, and Taygeta.”

He named each star, pointing to the ones he had drawn himself. “Each culture has its own version of the story. Um… In Japan, they're called Subaru.”

“Like the car brand!” Heeseung said, laughing at his own comment.

“Exactly,” Jungwon replied, laughing too. “It means to unite or to gather.”

Heeseung dipped his brush into a deep blue, the color reminding him of the night sky he often painted as a child. “You know,” he said, his voice softer now, “art has always been a way for me to escape. When I was younger, I would sit by the window and draw whatever I saw outside. My mom used to say I had a gift for capturing beauty, but I think it was just my way of understanding the world.”

Jungwon listened intently, he has such a beautiful perspective on art. It’s inspiring. “And how did you discover that?” he asked, curious.

“I remember one winter afternoon, the snow blanketed everything outside. I sketched the trees, their branches all white. It was so quiet, and I felt like I was part of something bigger. Art helped me express what I couldn’t say with words.” Heeseung smiled, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. “I think that’s why I love painting, especially the stars. They remind me of those moments—of wonder and peace.”

“That’s beautiful, Heeseung.” Jungwon replied, genuinely moved. “For me… I have always found hope in the stars,” he confessed, taking a deep breath. “When I was a child, I used to look at the sky and feel that, no matter what happened, there was something greater and more beautiful out there. The stars reminded me that I wasn’t alone.”

Heeseung felt a warmth in his chest, realizing how much he valued these moments with Jungwon. Was it the art, or was it the company? Maybe a bit of both. It was so special that, even though he had always been someone reserved and one who finds it difficult to open up to others at first, he felt safe to do it with Jungwon. He preferred to observe and listen instead of sharing his thoughts and feelings, but Jungwon had that calm and serene presence that made him feel comfortable enough to let his guard down and relax around him.

They continued to paint, the colorful strokes coming together and the canvas transforming into a vibrant depiction of the Pleiades. The fluorescent colors glowed under the dim lights, creating a magical atmosphere that enveloped them. Heeseung couldn’t help but laugh at the way their creations differed— Jungwon’s was whimsical and freer, while his was more precise and structured.

“Your star Alcyone looks more like a blot than a star,” Heeseung joked, letting out a giggle.

I should have practiced more before showing him, a playful pout creep onto his face while looking at his apparently failed artwork. “Well, at least my blot has a mythological name!”

“That’s true. And besides, it has a fascinating story behind it,” Heeseung replied, smiling.

These sessions not only strengthen their mutual knowledge but also deepen their relationship. Heeseung starts to see the universe with a new perspective, appreciating the science behind the beauty he has always admired. For his part, Jungwon finds in Heeseung a constant source of inspiration and creativity, learning to see astronomy through the eyes of art.

Like this, the bond between them expands, they get to know each other more, and their connection seems to have potential, like nebulas that eventually form new stars.

IV. METEOR SHOWER

“We want it to be immersive, you know? Something that makes people feel like they’re actually traveling through them. But we’re struggling with how to make it engaging without overwhelming the visitors.”

Heeseung nods, considering the sketches. “I think you should focus on the colors and lighting. Use the dark background to make the bright and vibrant colors of the planets stand out. It’ll create a contrast that draws people in.”

Inside the bustling planetarium, Heeseung is busy helping Jake with the set up for an upcoming exhibition. The sketches are scattered across the table as Jake explains the concept of dwarf planets and how the exhibit designers want to create a special display about them.

“Okay, good,” Jake says, scribbling notes. “Maybe we can incorporate some sound effects too? Like music that fits the theme.”

“Oh, that’ll be great. Sound can enhance the experience. Just make sure it complements the visuals and doesn’t distract from them,” Heeseung advises, feeling inspired by the discussion. He can already envision the vibrant planets decorating the hallway.

“You always have great ideas, Hee.” Jake grins, clearly appreciating his input.

Heeseung shrugs, a modest smile on his face. “I’m just sharing my thoughts. You have a solid foundation here; you just need to refine it.”

“Thank you! I’ll make sure to give you some credits for this.”

“No need, really.” He lets out a shy giggle. “Just tell me when it’s ready so I can be first one to see it.”

“Count on it.” Jake offers him another bright smile.

“Well, I’m gonna get going. I need to buy something before the show starts. Bye, Jake, and good luck!” They quickly exchange a farewell, and Heeseung soon leaves the planetarium after that.

Before the day’s presentation, Heeseung decides to do something special to cheer Jungwon up. He knows that shows always make Jungwon a little nervous, even if he’s good at hiding it. He thinks of a way to help him.

That’s why Heeseung heads to Jungwon’s favorite café near the planetarium. As he waits for his chocolate milkshake to be prepared, he reflects on all the times Jungwon has been there for him, providing unwavering support and confidence. The scent of coffee and pastries fills the air, wrapping around him like a warm embrace. Now it’s his turn to return the gesture.

When he gets back to Stellar Haven, he finds Jungwon reviewing his notes, his brow furrowed in concentration as he adjusts the final details of the presentation. Heeseung approaches with a warm smile, extending the milkshake. “Hey, look what I brought you.”

Jungwon looks up, surprise lighting up his face. “Whoa! You didn’t have to do this,” he replies, taking the milkshake with a grateful smile, cute dimples showing up. “You know I love this one.”

Heeseung chuckles, feeling a flutter of happiness in his chest. “Uh, I figured you could use a little pick-me-up before the show.”

“You’re the best, you know that?” Jungwon takes a sip, the familiar taste bringing him comfort; he now feels the tension in his shoulders ease.

“Just trying to keep my favorite presenter fueled and ready,” Heeseung says, teasing him lightly. But it’s true, Jungwon's his favorite one. “You’re going to crush it out there.”

“Thanks. I really hope so. I’ve been doing this for years now, but sometimes I just… I get so anxious.” His voice trembles slightly, the vulnerability surfacing.

Heeseung leans in, his expression sincere. “You’ve got this. Just remember why you love this stuff.” He places a reassuring hand on Jungwon’s shoulder, grounding him.

“Yeah, you’re right. I just need to focus.” Jungwon nods, his heart warming at Heeseung’s encouragement.

Outside the room, Jay happens to be passing by, doing a little tour to check if everything’s alright. He suddenly stops, noticing Jake leaning against the wall, trying to catch every word between Heeseung and Jungwon. Such a gossip.

“Really, Jake? Eavesdropping?” Jay teases, crossing his arms with a smirk. “What’s next, are you going to start taking notes?”

Jake jumps slightly, caught off guard. “I was just… observing! It’s research for our next exhibition, you know?” He tries to play it cool, but his grin gives him away.

“Right, because watching them bond over a milkshake is crucial to our work.” Jay rolls his eyes, unable to suppress a laugh.

“Hey, it’s adorable. Look at them!” Jake insists, gesturing toward the other two inside. “Heeseung told me he was going out for a bit to buy something and it happened to be that milkshake for Wonie, and it’s his favorite. That’s so sweet, Jay. They’re like two stars aligning!”

“Sweet? More like a rom-com waiting to happen,” Jay quips, leaning in closer to get a better view. “But I have to admit, it’s nice to see Jungwonie so relaxed.”

“Exactly. And he’s really bringing Heeseung out of his shell,” Jake adds, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “We should set them up on a double date with us.”

Jay raises an eyebrow, laughing. “You just want to play matchmaker, don’t you?”

“Maybe,” Jake admits, a playful grin spreading across his face. “But can you blame me? It’s fun to watch friendships blossom.”

“Yeah, babe, whatever you say.” Jay nudges Jake playfully. “But that’s enough daydreaming, there’s work to do. KidSpace starts soon, and Sunoo needs you there.” He gives Jake a gentle push away from where they are standing next to the door. “Let’s go.”

“Aw, come on! Just a few more minutes!” Jake protests, trying to peek back at Heeseung and Jungwon.

“Nope! We’re going. Now!” Jay insists, guiding Jake through the hallway, but not without glancing back at the two, a fond smile on his face. “Besides, I’m pretty sure they’ll be just fine on their own.”

As they walk away, Jake looks back one last time. “I just want to see how it turns out!”

“Trust me, it’ll be great,” Jay assures him, shaking his head with a chuckle.

Truth be told, a friendship grows between Heeseung and Jungwon little by little. Over time, their learning nights became a cherished tradition, a safe space where they can talk about their passions and grow together. They share not only their knowledge of art and astronomy but also their dreams and personal aspirations; with each moment and each conversation, their bond gets stronger and more meaningful.

The connection they feel is undeniable, and they both know that their meeting is not a coincidence. The stars have conspired to bring them together, and so the small gestures of affection begin to happen more frequently.

Jungwon prepares for the presentation with the milkshake in hand, and he feels a newfound confidence swell within him. I can do this. Heeseung believes in me, and that means a lot. He stands a little taller, his heart racing not just from nerves but also from his friend’s support. He’s ready to face the audience, knowing that Heeseung is by his side.

The show is a success. And at the end of the night, as they gather their things, Jungwon turns to Heeseung, his expression earnest. “Seriously, thank you for everything, Hee. Not just for the milkshake, but for being there for me.”

Heeseung grins, his eyes sparkling with warmth. “Always, Won. We’re a team now, remember?”

Now it’s Thursday, and one of Heeseung’s classes was canceled, so he arrives earlier at Stellar Haven, ready to start a new day of work.

As he opens his sketchbook, he finds a small note stuck on the first page. The note is written in Jungwon’s unmistakable handwriting.

“Hey, I just wanted to remind you how amazing you are. Never stop believing in yourself ✧”. Heeseung smiles as he reads the encouraging words, warmth spreading through him like sunlight breaking through clouds. He carefully puts the note away, feeling more motivated and confident as he begins his day.

So, whenever he feels a little overwhelmed or insecure, Heeseung rereads the note. Jungwon’s words are like a beacon of light, guiding him and reminding him of his worth.

Later, when they're working together on an important chapter of Heeseung’s project, he decides to bring it up. “Thank you for the note this morning, by the way.” he says, his smile genuine. “It really helped me start the day off on the right foot.”

Jungwon’s cheeks flush a deeper shade of pink. “I’m glad to hear that. Just wanted you to know how much I believe in you.”

“You know how to lift my spirits.”

“I’ll always be here for you. We're a team, remember?”

Notes of encouragement become another tradition between them. Heeseung begins leaving little notes for Jungwon, filled with words of support and affection and some doodles. “You are like a bright star in my life,” one of the notes reads, accompanied by a small drawing of the constellation Aquarius, with Beta Aquarii, one of the main and brightest stars, bearing the silhouette of a cat next to it and the calligraphy ‘you’ above it.

Their new relationship is like a constellation, made up of countless moments of tenderness and understanding, shining with a light that seems to never fade.

On a warm August day, Jungwon discovers that the Perseid meteor shower is about to reach its peak. He shares the news with Heeseung, and they agree it would be the perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in a magical night outside the planetarium, under the starry mantle of the sky.

He prepares everything for the occasion, excitement bubbling within him. He takes Heeseung to a secluded spot, far from the city’s glow, where the night sky unfolds in all its splendor; a small clearing with a perfect view. Heeseung’s eyes widen in amazement as he sees that Jungwon has prepared a cozy blanket, cushions, a basket with their favorite snacks, and even packed his telescope. The gentle rustle of leaves dances in the warm summer breeze, and under the deep indigo, the stars shine with unusual intensity, pulsing with life as if they too are anticipating the celestial spectacle.

While waiting for the time to marvel at Perseids’ dance, they spot a few stars through Jungwon’s telescope. As they sip their drinks, Jungwon points out different constellations, his voice filled with wonder and excitement. Heeseung listens, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment and Jungwon’s infectious enthusiasm.

“There’s Orion! Look, the one I told you about the other day.”

“Oh, that one over there is Betelgeuse, right?”

“Yeah, and the other one is Rigel.”

I love how excited you get about these things. It’s contagious.

The hours flow, and it’s almost 11 pm when Jungwon spreads out the blanket across the cool grass, and they settle in, laying side by side, still gazing up at the vast expanse of stars. They fall into comfortable silence, the only sounds being the distant chorus of crickets. Their sides brush against each other, a subtle reminder of their growing closeness.

Everything’s perfect, creating a magical backdrop for their quiet moment together. Then, Heeseung decides to break the silence just to say, “I didn’t say it before, but thanks for bringing us here, Won.”

“I wanted tonight to be special,” Jungwon smiles. “The Perseids are one of the most spectacular showers, and I wanted to share this with you. It’s going to be amazing, Hee. You’ll see!” His eyes shine just as much, or even more than the stars above them, and Heeseung feels something stir within him as he catches Jungwon’s gaze.

He chooses to look away, clearing his throat, praying his blush is not too noticeable. “So— uhm, how does this meteor shower happen?”

“Ah, the Perseids are caused by debris left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet. When Earth passes through these debris trails, the bits collide with our atmosphere and disintegrate into streaks of lights in the sky. The Perseids seem to come from Perseus constellation, so that’s why the shower was named like that.”

“But do they really come from the constellation, though?” Heeseung asks, his curiosity piqued.

“Of course not, silly.” Jungwon laughs, and Heeseung lets out a breath, feeling embarrassed for even asking because of course meteors don’t come from constellations. “You have to remember that meteors are pieces of comets, asteroids, the Moon, or even other planets. So, the constellation reference is just to help viewers identify which shower they are seeing because there are so many.”

Suddenly, the sky begins to light up with flashes of light. The Perseids have begun. They watch in amazement as the meteors streak across the sky, leaving bright trails in their wake.

“It’s amazing,” Heeseung whispers, his heart racing. “I’ve never seen anything so beautiful.”

Jungwon looks at him tenderly, his gaze softening. “The universe is vast and full of wonders,” And then, he whispers too, “but nothing compares to being here with you.”

At that moment, a particularly bright meteor appears, illuminating a little more around them. Heeseung, excited by the sight and Jungwon’s words, takes his hand. Jungwon is not surprised by the gesture, although his heart pounds hard against his chest. He reciprocates, interlacing their fingers. And the union feels like a promise of a new something between them.

That night, as the Perseids continue their dance in the sky, they know they’re meant to be eternal together.

They can’t help but notice how their friendship has evolved. Like the Perseids, which begin as tiny particles and transform into dazzling flashes of light, their relationship has grown and intensified even more. Every conversation, every shared laugh, has been like a spark that illuminated their connection. Now, under the starry sky, they feel their friendship turning something else—a relationship that shines with the same intensity and beauty as the meteor shower above them.

V. SUPERNOVA

Heeseung’s first presentation comes along. The day he's informed about it, he nearly forgets how to breathe.

It all happens during a small meeting with Jay. As they review the details of the upcoming activities at the planetarium, Jay looks at him with a confident smile. “Hee, I’ve been thinking about this for a while and… I feel it’s time for you to make your own presentation and teach it to our visitors,” he says, his enthusiastic tone lighting up the room.

Heeseung feels his heart race. “Really?” he asks, excitement and nervousness mixing in his voice.

“Yeah. Even though you’re just a volunteer and this isn’t in your contract, I’ve seen how much you’ve grown. You’ve been working hard, and your dedication shines through. I’m sure people will love what you have to share,” Jay replies, encouraging him with a nod of approval.

“I just... I’m not sure I can do it,” Heeseung admits, feeling a knot in his stomach. “Can I have some time to think this over?”

“Of course.” Jay says, keeping his gaze steady. “But remember, you have all the knowledge and creativity you need. Just speak from the heart, and everything will be fine. But if you decide it’s not the right time, that’s okay too. Do it if you really want to.”

Heeseung hesitates at first, as it has only been a little over three months since he joined Stellar Haven. Despite his constant study sessions with Jungwon and the research he does on his own, Heeseung doesn’t feel ready. So later, when he’s with Jungwon, he tells him about his concern.

“How can you say you’re not ready? I’ve seen your progress up close, and I can tell you’re perfectly capable of doing it,” Jungwon says, with assurance in his tone.

He shakes his head, still doubting, looking at Jungwon with bambi eyes full of distress. “I don’t know… What if I make a mistake? What if I can’t answer the audience’s questions?” His voice almost trembles, revealing his anxiety.

Jungwon smiles warmly. “We all make mistakes, and that’s okay. The important thing is that you have the knowledge and passion. Plus, I’ll be there with you, supporting you every step of the way, okay?”

Heeseung takes a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. He feels his heart still racing. “Do you really think I can do it?”

“I know you can,” Jungwon replies firmly. “I’ve seen how you dive into studying the constellations and the myths. Your dedication and enthusiasm are evident. You just need to trust yourself.”

So he says yes to Jay's offer and he chooses to talk about constellations for his first presentation. It’s his favorite topic; everyone knows that. But little do they know that Heeseung only has Jungwon’s image, with bright eyes and a candid smile, talking about any of these constellations to him, clutched in his head, beautiful and clear. Perhaps that's the main reason he decides to present about Lyra and the story behind it.

From that day on, Jungwon helps Heeseung rehearse. They sit in the main room, surrounded by projections of the constellation. Heeseung starts to speak, still a bit nervous, his hands shaking slightly.

“This is the constellation Lyra. It’s a small constellation in the northern hemisphere that stands out in the sky during the summer. It’s one of the oldest and is associated with… uh.”

Jungwon gently interrupts him. “Take a deep breath and take your time. Imagine you’re just telling a story to a friend. To me.”

Heeseung breathes deeply and tries again, focusing on Jungwon’s encouraging gaze. “Lyra is one of the oldest constellations and is associated with the lyre of Orpheus in Greek mythology. Orpheus was such a talented musician that his music could enchant any living being, even stones.”

“That was much better. Remember, people are here because they want to hear what you have to say. Your passion for the topic and the stories behind the constellations is what will draw them in,” Jungwon says with a smile.

Heeseung nods, feeling a bit more confident. “Okay, I get it now.”

“Let’s review another part,” Jungwon suggests. “How about Vega?”

“Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra and the fifth brightest in the night sky.” Heeseung continues. “Also, in the myth, it’s said that Orpheus’ lyre was placed in the sky by Zeus as a tribute to his music.”

“Perfect!” Jungwon claps softly. “And don’t forget to mention how Lyra is one of my favorite constellations. That’s always a nice personal touch.”

Heeseung stops, surprised. “What- Really? I didn’t know it was your favorite.”

“Yes, it has always fascinated me,” Jungwon nods, enthusiasm in his voice. “The story of Orpheus and the beauty of Vega make it special for me.”

“And that makes me feel even more pressure…” He pursues his lips together in a thin line, feeling the weight of expectations.

“No, none of that,” Jungwon says, shaking his head. “You’re doing great. Just make sure to enjoy the moment and share your passion.”

By the end of the rehearsal, Heeseung feels much more prepared and less anxious. “Thank you, for helping me. I don’t think I could do this without you.”

“You’ll do amazing, I know it.” Jungwon replies with a warm smile.

They spend a few more days in the empty room, with Jungwon asking questions and Heeseung answering, gradually building confidence. Jungwon teaches him some tricks to stay calm and project his voice, and then, Heeseung feels confident enough to actually do it.

☆☆

Just remember to enjoy the moment and share your passion.

On the night of the presentation, the planetarium is full of curious and enthusiastic visitors. Heeseung, though still a bit nervous, feels more prepared thanks to Jungwon’s support and rehearsals. He remembers his first art class, where he felt just as nervous as he does now, surrounded by strangers.

“It's going to be perfect,” Jungwon whispers with an encouraging smile. “Okay?”

He looks at him for a few seconds before stepping closer to wish him good luck with a small hug.

His arms wrap around Heeseung’s neck, standing on his tiptoes to reach him. Within his nebula of thoughts and nerves, Heeseung gently wraps his own arms around Jungwon’s waist, closing his eyes for a moment, allowing himself to be enveloped by the sense of safety and confidence the hug provides. He feels Jungwon slowly pull away, only to brush a soft and tender kiss on his cheek, a simple gesture that makes Heeseung’s heart beat a little faster.

“Now go out there and dazzle them with your light.”

Heeseung nods, unable to utter a word, yet feeling a wave of confidence. He takes one last deep breath and heads toward the control booth to check everything with Riki one last time.

“Oh, Yang Jungwon. What was that, uh?” Sunoo says, appearing out of nowhere at his side, a mischievous smile on his lips.

Jungwon instantly blushes, trying to maintain his composure. “What? I was just wishing him good luck,” he replies, trying to sound nonchalant.

Sunoo laughs and adds playfully, “And what about me? You never do that with me, and I’m supposed to be your best friend!”

Jungwon rolls his eyes but can’t help laughing. “Maybe next time.”

“Really? Promise me,” Sunoo extends his pinky finger toward Jungwon, raising his eyebrows expectantly.

“I promise,” he says, intertwining his pinky with his friend’s and soon letting go, making his way to the seats when he notices the show is about to start. “Now be quiet.”

Meanwhile, Heeseung shares a few more words with Riki; everything already set up. “Good luck, Hee. You're gonna be fine, don’t worry.” Riki flashes his signature boxy smile, and pats him on his back as Heeseung walks to the front of the room, head held high and shoulders less tense than before, ready for what will be his first show.

He scans the crowd, his eyes landing on Sunoo and Jungwon, their encouraging smiles giving him a boost of confidence. Just a few rows back, he also spots Sunghoon, giving him a thumbs-up and mouthing you can do this.

Soon, the lights dim, and the projector starts to display the starry sky on the dome, creating a magical atmosphere.

Heeseung counts to three and then begins. “Good evening, everyone. Tonight, we’re going to explore the wonder of the night sky. Every star has a story, and each constellation they are in, tells us an incredible myth. For today, I’ll talk about one of the most fascinating and ancient constellations: Lyra.”

The image of said constellation appears on the dome, with the star Vega shining brightly. Heeseung continues, his voice gaining confidence with each word. “It’s a small constellation in the northern hemisphere. Lyra is associated with the lyre of Orpheus in Greek mythology. Orpheus was such a talented musician that his music could enchant any living being, even stones…”

At that moment, drawn by the theme of the presentation, Sunoo couldn’t resist adding another remark. “Look at that! He even chose your favorite constellation. Next thing you know, he’ll be naming a star after you. Oh my God, this is getting serious,” he says jokingly, winking at his best friend.

Jungwon hides his smile behind his hand. “Actually, he didn’t know it was my favorite constellation,” he admits, looking at Heeseung with a mix of surprise and admiration. “But it’s a very special detail.”

The way Heeseung narrates Orpheus’ legend with such enthusiasm makes the story come alive for everyone present. And Jungwon, sitting among the audience, smiles with pride as he watches Heeseung handle himself confidently. He feels an emotion and something more that he still can’t quite identify; seeing Heeseung overcome his nerves and present with assurance is a testament to his growth. But there’s a warmth in his chest, and all he can do now is smile warmly, and hope for the stars to reveal that something over time.

And there’s another thing: the way Heeseung speaks makes the butterflies in Jungwon’s stomach go wild. But that’s just for him to know.

Heeseung talks about the wonders of Lyra, and his nervousness fades, replaced by the passion he feels for the topic. “Its star Vega is one of the brightest and easiest to find in the night sky. Vega is an A0V spectral type star, and it’s about 25 light-years from Earth. It’s also part of the Summer Triangle, along with Altair and Deneb.” Heeseung continues, pointing to the stars with a laser pointer, while the audience listens attentively, fascinated.

Seeing him shine in that moment is inspiring and reaffirms the great dedication he puts into his work. Sunoo notices this, as well as the way his friend looks at the boy on stage. There’s admiration in his eyes, yes, but beyond that, there’s a tenderness in his gaze and an urgency to always want to be near him, like two stars in a shared orbit, as Jake would say.

The show progresses, with Heeseung feeling more comfortable and answering the audience’s questions. He feels a moment of doubt creep in when a challenging question arises, but he quickly remembers Jungwon’s words of encouragement and pushes through.

Heeseung realizes that, although fear can be overwhelming, the support of his friends and his own dedication have led him to this moment of triumph.

At the end, the auditorium erupts in applause. Heeseung smiles, thanking everyone for their attention and support. When he returns backstage, Jungwon receives him with a tight hug and a “You did amazing!” that fills his heart with joy. “I knew you could do it,” Jungwon says with a radiant smile, his words filled with affection.

“Thank you,” Heeseung replies, with a grateful grin on his own lips. “I couldn’t have done it without you by my side.”

Jungwon feels deeply moved. “I’m so proud of you,” he says, his words resonating like an echo in the vast universe of his feelings.

A deep sense of happiness washes over Heeseung, knowing that his hard work has been recognized by someone he admires so much.

He's about to respond at those words, but Sunoo bounds over, a wide grin on his face. “Hey, you two! What’s with all the mushy stuff?” he teases, raising an eyebrow playfully. “That was spectacular, Heeseung. We should go out and celebrate this! How about dinner at that new restaurant downtown?”

Heeseung chuckles, feeling a mix of amusement and warmth at Sunoo’s interruption. Jungwon laughs too, shaking his head. “You always know how to make an entrance, don’t you, Sunie?”

“Of course! I can’t let you two have all the fun without me,” Sunoo replies, nudging Heeseung playfully. “Let’s go celebrate, please. You deserve it.”

“That sounds amazing, actually. Thanks, Sunoo.” Heeseung smiles, feeling grateful for his friends.

“Okay, I’m gonna go get the others. Wait up here.”

Just then, Sunghoon approaches, nearly collapsing into Sunoo as he arrives. “Whoa, easy there!” Sunoo exclaims, barely catching himself.

“Sorry. I didn’t see you there,” he stammers.

“It’s fi-” Sunoo looks up at Sunghoon, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. Wow, he’s so handsome… and why can’t I think of anything clever to say? Come on, Sunoo, you’re usually so smooth!

“Uh…” The awkward silence stretches between them, and Sunghoon shyly glances down. Is he blushing? Wait, am I blushing too? This is so embarrassing.

Jungwon and Heeseung exchange glances, and Jungwon can’t help lean to whisper, “Oh, you see that? Someone finally made Sunoo lost for words.”

“Right? This is a rare sight.” Heeseung chuckles, nodding in agreement.

Sunghoon catches their words, so he looks at them, realizing they’re watching with amused expressions. “What’s going on?”

Heeseung steps forward, “Sunoo, meet Sunghoon, my friend from college. Hoon, this is Sunoo, he’s also a show presenter here.”

“Nice to meet you,” Sunoo finally manages to say, his voice a bit softer than usual and both still blushing slightly.

“Yeah, nice to meet you too,” Sunghoon replies, shyness evident as he fidgets with his hands.

The air is filled with weird tension, one Sunoo decides to break by saying, “Um, we’re going out to celebrate. You- You should join us.”

“I’d love to,” he says bit bashful, glancing at Heeseung, who nods encouragingly.

“Great. I’ll tell Jay and Jake, you guys go get Riki!” Sunoo exclaims, excitement bubbling over him again as he leads the way, leaving a very flustered Sunghoon standing behind, his eyes fixed on the path he had taken.

And Heeseung and Jungwon to share another knowing smile at the unexpected turn of events.

☆☆

The atmosphere at the restaurant is vibrant, filled with laughter and chatter as the group settles around a large table. Heeseung, still riding the high of his show, beams at his friends. Sunoo and Sunghoon sit next to each other, mix of excitement and nervousness around them, while Jay, Jake, and Riki fill the table with their animated energy, and Jungwon by his side.

“Okay, everyone, let’s toast to Heeseung’s first presentation!” Jay declares, raising his glass with a broad smile. “You did amazing, man.”

Jungwon, leaning back in his chair with a smirk, also raises his glass. “To Heeseung, the new constellation expert!”

Heeseung blushes, scratching the back of his head. “I can’t believe I actually did it. Thank you all for being here.”

“Cheers!” they all respond in unison, clinking their glasses together. Heeseung feels a warm rush of gratitude wash over him as he takes a sip, surrounded by the people he cares about.

The dinner keeps going, and they share stories, jokes, and playful teasing; the team finds themselves reminiscing about their favorite moments together. Riki recounts a funny mishap during a team outing, “Hey, remember when we tried to stargaze and ended up soaked wet because it started raining?” His laugh is infectious, and everyone joins in.

Jake, wiping a tear from his eye, adds, “And when Sunoo thought he saw a shooting star, but it was just a plane? Classic!”

The table erupts in laughter again, and Sunoo can’t help but groan, feeling completely exposed. He gets a glimpse of Sunghoon who’s also laughing, and that just makes him more embarrassed.

“Do you ever shut up, Jake?” Sunoo playfully swats at him as Jake presses more to Jay's side, and the banter keeps going.

By the end of the night, the new formed group feels more like a family than just friends. Heeseung looks around the table, his heart swelling with gratitude. This is what he had hoped for— a supportive group where everyone could share in each other’s successes and joys.

Sunghoon drives both of them back to the dorm, the night breeze flows through the open windows, refreshing and revitalizing. The city lights flicker past, creating a beautiful mosaic of colors that dances across the dashboard.

Heeseung, who’s been quietly enjoying the ride, suddenly pipes up with a mischievous smile. “So, what’s the deal with Sunoo? You two were practically staring at each other all night.”

Sunghoon’s face turns beet red, and he stutters, “W-What? No, we weren’t!” He laughs nervously, gripping the steering wheel a little tighter.

“You’re blushing, Hoon! It’s kind of cute,” Heeseung teases, leaning back in his seat with a satisfied grin. “But really, it was so obvious. You were stealing glances like it was a competition. I thought I might need to intervene.”

“It’s not like that!” Sunghoon stutters, visibly flustered. He takes a deep breath, then whispers, “Okay, maybe a little… But what about you and Jungwon? That’s worse, man.”

Fortunately to him, they finally arrive at their dorm, so Heeseung completely avoids the question by saying, “Oh, we’re already here. Bye Hoon, good night!” and with that, he leaves.

As Heeseung walks away, he can’t help but feel a strange flutter in his heart. His feelings are starting to be too loud on his head and too heavy on his chest; the thought of Jungwon — his laughter, the way his eyes light up when he’s excited, the comfort Heeseung feels in his presence, all those memories bring a warmth that he doesn’t quite understands.

Despite his attempts to rationalize his feelings, Heeseung can’t deny that he is, for better or worse, intrinsically tied to Jungwon now. Just like stars and planets and moons can’t disentangle themselves from their infinite orbits, Heeseung can’t disentangle himself from Jungwon. Because it’s not about friendship anymore, nor even love. This is all about destiny.

With all his feelings exploiting like a bright supernova, love blossoms like new stars igniting in the vast expanse of his heart.

VI. BLACK HOLE

After that first and successful show, Heeseung is no longer behind the scenes helping with preparation and assisting with Sound and Light; he’s now in front with Jungwon, both of them becoming the visitor’s favorite pair of presenters.

Their first joint show is an exposition of a comet-inspired painting and actual pictures of the comet. Together, they found innovative ways to combine their talents, creating immersive experiences that fascinated art lovers and science enthusiasts alike. Jungwon provided stunning photos taken by some astrophotographers, and Heeseung, with his undeniable talent, created a painting that captivates the beauty of the Green Comet.

After a session with the team to choose a topic for the show and with the new information fresh in his mind, Heeseung sat in his room, surrounded by sketches and notes. He thought about how to depict the comet in a way that captures its essence. I want people to feel the wonder of seeing a comet streaking across the sky, he mused. He decided that his work should convey both the majesty of the comet and the excitement of its appearance.

Heeseung is nervous but excited, and Jungwon, noticing his companion’s anxiety, takes his hand, giving it a squeeze. “You’ll do great,” Jungwon says with a reassuring smile. “Remember, we’re here to share our passion.”

He nods, taking a deep breath. “Thank you. And sorry for always bothering you with my nerves.”

Jungwon’s response is to lean in and give him a kiss on the cheek; it has already become a habit between them. “Stop saying that,” Jungwon replies, stroking the back of his hand with his thumb in an attempt to calm him. “It’s never a bother; you know I’m here to support you. And I’m just as nervous as you are about this.”

Heeseung is known for being very calculated and cautious, but the magic of the moment and Jungwon’s hand intertwined with his, their fingers slightly laced together, lead him to follow his impulses. Unable to stop himself, he leans in, pressing a kiss to Jungwon’s forehead, his lips lingering for a few seconds. He pulls back slowly, and Jungwon is still looking at him, his eyes a little bit wide but glowing softly under the backstage lights, filled with such adoration that Heeseung almost feels shy, wanting to look away. But he doesn’t; instead, he smiles and says, “Let’s go,” pulling him by his hand to guide him to the front.

Riki gives them the signal to start—a smile on his own lips because maybe he caught sight of the whole moment, and Jesus, they’re so cute together, but he would never let them know he thinks like that. The show begins, and the room fills with curiosity and excitement. They stand in front of a large screen, where images of the comet C/2022 E3 ZTF are projected. Heeseung’s painting, vibrant and full of life, holds a prominent place on the wall behind them. The murmurs slowly fade, and a reverent silence fills the space.

Heeseung speaks first, his heart pounding as he looks at the audience. “Thank you all for being here. Today, we will explore the fascinating comet C/2022 E3 ZTF, a cosmic traveler that captures the attention of astronomers and space enthusiasts alike.” His eyes sparkle with enthusiasm. “This comet is a rare phenomenon, a traveler from space that appears once every thousands of years. Its light and beauty remind us of the vastness of the universe and our small but significant existence within it.”

He approaches the canvas, pointing out the details with a trembling hand. “Look at how I’ve captured the comet’s tail,” he says, his voice full of passion. “I wanted it to look like it’s in motion, leaving a trail of light in its wake. Each brushstroke represents energy and emotion.”

Heeseung selected a color palette that reflects the luminosity of the comet. The painting features celestial blues, vibrant greens, and flashes of white. He also decided to use watercolor techniques to create an ethereal effect, simulating the appearance of the comet as it passes through space. With a dark background representing the vast cosmos and bright stars scattered around, Heeseung succeeds in capturing an emotional connection with the universe and the story of the comet.

The audience leans forward, captivated by his words. Heeseung continues, “This comet, for me, symbolizes hope and renewal. Every time we see it, it serves as a reminder that, even when we face challenges, there’s always beauty and light along the way.”

Then Jungwon smiles, adjusting his microphone before speaking. “Now I’m going to share some interesting facts about the comet. C/2022 E3 ZTF was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility in 2022. It made its close approach to the Sun during January 2023, becoming quite bright and an easy observation target. This comet has a very elliptical orbit, which means it only comes close to our solar system every 50,000 years.”

As he speaks, an image of the comet appears on the screen, showing its bright tail and nucleus. “Here you can see one of the first images captured of the comet,” Jungwon continues. “The brightness of its tail is due to the sublimation of gases and dust as it approaches the Sun. It’s amazing to think that this comet has been traveling through space for thousands of years before reaching us. And it’s not just a visual spectacle—it also offers us an opportunity to learn more about the formation of the solar system. Comets are like time capsules, carrying information from the early days of our system.”

Suddenly, someone from the crowd asks, “Why is it green?”

“That’s a good question,” Jungwon replies with a smile. “It’s green because it contains diatomic carbon, a molecule that emits a green glow when excited by sunlight.” Jungwon moves on to the next image, which shows the comet at different stages of its approach. “Additionally, the comet has been studied by various telescopes around the world, and the images have revealed surprising details about its structure and composition.”

The audience gets drawn not only by the artwork and photographs but also by the evident chemistry between the two collaborators. Jungwon and Heeseung complement each other perfectly, combining their knowledge and skills to create an educational and visually impressive experience.

Heeseung beams and gestures once more toward the canvas he has brought to life. “I wanted this piece to not only represent the comet but also convey the emotion of seeing it streak across the sky. Each star in the background is a reminder that we are surrounded by wonders.”

The atmosphere fills with a palpable energy, and Jungwon realizes that the audience is not just looking at the painting but also feeling the story behind it. “I hope this piece inspires you to look up, to dream, and to remember that we're part of something much greater.”

With a smile, Heeseung concludes the presentation, “Thank you for joining us on this journey through the cosmos. We hope that the comet C/2022 E3 ZTF lights up your hearts as much as it lights up ours.”

The audience erupts into applause, the sound echoing through the planetarium, filling the space with warmth and appreciation. They exchange satisfied glances, knowing they had shared not just information but also an experience that would resonate in the hearts of their audience; everyone was united by the wonder of the universe once again.

Later, as the crowd begins to disperse, Jungwon glances back at Heeseung’s painting, the vibrant colors catching all his attention. “You know, Hee,” he says, his voice filled with awe, “your painting is truly breathtaking. It captures the essence of the comet perfectly. I can’t stop thinking about how beautiful it is.”

Heeseung’s heart swells with pride at Jungwon’s words. “Really? You think so?” he asks, his eyes searching Jungwon’s for sincerity.

“Yeah,” Jungwon replies, his admiration evident in the way his eyes sparkle. “I don’t know much about art, but it’s one of the best pieces I’ve ever seen. It feels like the comet is alive, like it could leap off the canvas and soar through the universe.”

Heeseung smiles, his heart racing. “Then it’s yours.”

“What?” Jungwon blinks in surprise, his breath catching in his throat. “You want to give it to me?”

“Uhm,” Heeseung lets out, his cheeks flushing a delicate shade of pink. “I want you to have it. It means a lot that you like it so much.” He gestures towards the painting, the swirling colors and shimmering details reflecting the emotions he poured into it.

Jungwon’s eyes widen, and he feels a rush of warmth. “Are you sure? It’s your work, Heeseung. It’s special.”

“I’m sure,” Heeseung insists, his voice steady yet filled with emotion. “It’s more special because you appreciate it. I want it to remind you of this moment.”

Touched, Jungwon nods, a bright smile spreading across his face, illuminating his features. “Thank you for sharing your art and for making astronomy even more magical, Heeseung.”

He watches as Jungwon steps closer to the painting, his fingers brushing against the canvas as if trying to absorb its essence. “Every time I look at it, I’ll remember this night—the stars, the comet, and… you.”

Heeseung feels his heart pounding in his chest, realizing how much this moment means to both of them. It’s not just about the painting; it’s about the connection they’ve forged through their shared passions. And they stand there, surrounded by the fading echoes of applause and the lingering magic of the evening, their unbreakable bond shines brighter than any comet in the night sky.

They spend long nights working side by side, sharing ideas and learning from one another. Heeseung appreciates Jungwon’s patience, while Jungwon admires Heeseung’s creativity and artistic vision. These collaborations not only enrich their work but also further solidify their connection, built on mutual respect and admiration.

As their shows gains recognition, they both realize they have created more than just a series of successful projects. They build a bridge between two seemingly distinct worlds, proving that art and science can coexist and complement each other in surprising ways. Their joint efforts not only inspire others but also teach them to see the world through new perspectives.

The intensity of their feelings grows rapidly, and Jungwon, though not yet fully aware of his emotions, feels a special attraction towards Heeseung. The stars, which once gave them hope and solace, now bear witness to their deepening bond. The strength of their feelings is undeniable, and though they have yet to put those emotions into words, it’s still something wonderful that fills their hearts and souls.

You can think of the universe as a vast canvas filled with lights and new beginnings, a place where stars are born and shine intensely. But there's also chaos—dying stars fading into darkness and black holes devouring everything in their path. Amidst this beauty and destruction, Heeseung and Jungwon find themselves caught in a cosmic storm of emotions.

Just like the stars that struggle to maintain their light amidst the vastness of space, their relationship faces challenges. There were moments of brilliance, where everything seemed perfect, but there’s also shadows threatening to consume them. Arguments and misunderstandings are like black holes, absorbing joy and leaving a void almost impossible to fill.

The misunderstanding occurs during a particularly stressful week at Stellar Haven. Both are working on a major show, and the pressure begins to affect their communication. The atmosphere in the planetarium is tense, with the constant hum of the equipment and the murmur of colleagues busy with their tasks. The soft light from the projectors creates an almost ethereal ambiance, but the tension in the air is palpable.

Heeseung has been working overtime to ensure everything turns out perfectly, even sacrificing some of his college assignments to dedicate himself fully to this. Sleepless nights and exhaustion are starting to take their toll, and suddenly he feels ditched by Jungwon. The frustration and fatigue are evident in his tired eyes and slouched posture.

“I think we should focus more on the visual presentation. People need to feel amazed,” Heeseung suggests, his voice tense, almost pleading.

Jungwon, frowning and with his arms crossed, responds with irritation. “But we also need to make sure the information is clear. We can’t sacrifice content for spectacle, and you know that.”

The tension in the air intensifies, like a rope about to snap. Heeseung feels a knot in his stomach, his frustration turning into a sense of loneliness. “I feel like I’m doing all of this alone, you know? We’re not on the same page, and we’ve barely talked this week.” His voice trembles slightly, a mix of exhaustion and sadness.

“Really? I’ve been just as busy, preparing everything, and it’s not fair for you to blame me for that,” Jungwon responds, his defensive tone rising.

“It’s not about blaming you! It’s about the fact that you’re not here,” Here, with your hand in mine, your lips on my cheek, your laugh in my ears and your warmth in my heart. Heeseung bursts out, his voice echoing in the room, drawing the attention of some people.

“And what am I supposed to do? Drop everything and run to your side? I can’t just ignore my responsibilities. And maybe if you stopped worrying so much about every little detail, we could have more time together,” Jungwon adds, frustration evident on his face.

“So now it’s my fault for wanting everything to go right? Perfect!” Heeseung exclaims.

Both remain silent, the tension rising. Heeseung feels hurt and misunderstood, while Jungwon feels unfairly accused. The conversation ends abruptly, and they both walk away, feeling a growing emptiness. The echo of their words still lingers in the room, creating an atmosphere of anguish and desolation.

Sunoo, who has also been helping with the show’s details, watches the argument from a safe distance. He feels uncomfortable and worried about the sudden disagreement between his friends. After both of them walk away, he takes the opportunity to approach Jungwon.

“Hey, are you okay? That seemed pretty intense,” Sunoo asks, his voice gentle.

“I don’t know, Sunie. All of this is starting to feel like too much,” Jungwon responds, his gaze distant.

“Maybe you should talk to him when you’re both calmed down. It’s not worth fighting over this; you’re just really stressed,” Sunoo suggests, trying to offer some comfort.

Riki, handling the equipment from his booth, has also noticed the tension. He's worried about the situation, so he pulls Heeseung closer after the discussion. “Hey, Heeseung. I know you’re doing a great job, but you need to get some rest. The pressure is getting to everyone,” he says, his voice full of concern.

“I know, Ki. It’s just that I want everything to go perfectly,” Heeseung replies, feeling overwhelmed.

“And it will. But we’re all here to help each other, so don’t take all the responsibility by yourself,” Riki reminds him, trying to ease his burden.

Over the next few days, the distance between them becomes more evident, each immersed in their own thoughts and emotions. These days at the planetarium are difficult for both of them, as the tension affects not only their work, but also the overall atmosphere of the team. Heeseung, as stubborn as only he can be, ignores Riki’s advice and becomes even more down in his work, focusing on the details of the event, trying to avoid the pain of confrontation. His perfectionism intensifies, and although he tries to remain calm, the lack of communication with Jungwon makes him feel even more alone. His physical and emotional exhaustion are increasingly evident. He feels trapped in a cycle of stress and sadness, questioning whether he will be able to resolve the issue soon.

Jungwon feels guilty about the argument and worried about the rift that has formed. He tries to concentrate on his responsibilities, but Heeseung’s absence in his daily life affects him deeply. He realizes how much he depends on his support and closeness. Even if he tries to maintain his positive attitude in front of his colleagues, inside he feels lost and anxious to fix things. Why was I so harsh? I just wanted you to know that I’m trying hard too. What if I’ve ruined everything?

When it gets too suffocating, Sunoo takes Jungwon to the park one afternoon, thinking that getting some fresh air will do him good. Sitting on a bench under an oak tree, Jungwon lets it all out.

“Heeseung and I…I don’t know how we came to this. I feel like I’m losing it.” Jungwon says, looking down at the ground, his feet playing nervously with the grass.

“Losing it? What are you talking about?” Sunoo asks, frowning.

“We’ve been close all this time, but this discussion… it made me realize that he’s not just a co-worker. He’s more than that to me,” Jungwon confesses, feeling the emotional burden grow heavier.

“More than...?”

Jungwon is silent for a moment, searching for the words. “It’s just… when I’m with him, I feel something different. But now, after what happened, I’m afraid I’ve ruined that.”

Sunoo nods, understanding the depth of his friend’s feelings. “That sounds like something important. And you need to talk to him. Don’t let this ruin everything.”

“I don’t know… what if he doesn’t feel the same way? What if that just pushes him further away?” Jungwon starts rambling. “He’s only got a few more weeks to submit his project, you know? And after that he’ll probably just stop coming to Stellar Haven and-”

“Wonie,” Sunoo interrupts him, taking his hand to make him focus on what he’s going to say. “What you guys have is special, we all know that. He feels it too, and if you want to be with him, you have to take the risk. Communication is key. You can’t let a misunderstanding come between you. Besides, Heeseung’s also dealing with his own conflicts. He may just need to hear your voice. And I don’t even think he’ll disappear after the end of his project, trust me.”

Jungwon feels trapped in his own thoughts, tired of them. He lets out a sigh that denotes his bad mood, and Sunoo decides not to say anything more. Instead, he wraps his arms around Jungwon and pulls him into in his embrace, leaving a light kiss to his head that he hopes will soothe his sorrows a little. And Jungwon smiles in spite of everything, grateful to have Sunoo as his best friend by his side.

He knows that his relationship with Heeseung is being tested. This conflict was perhaps inevitable; sooner or later they would have to face it. But, just as in the universe, where out of destruction comes the creation of new stars, he hopes that out of their difficulties an even stronger and brighter relationship could be born.

Because, despite this small bump, their attraction to each other remains as strong as the gravity of a black hole. And there’s nothing that can break that.

What you guys have is special.

VII. GALAXY COLLISION

Heeseung sits in front of his laptop, surrounded by some graphs and messy notes. The pressure overwhelms him, and his mind is filled with doubts. Riki approaches him with a calm smile, sensing his frustration even from across the room.

“Hey. How about we take a break? You look really stressed,” Riki suggests, trying to relieve the tension.

“I don’t have time for that, Riki. The presentation is in two days, and there’s so much to do,” Heeseung replies, not taking his eyes off the screen.

“I know, but if you keep this up, you won’t be able to think straight. Come on, just a couple of minutes. You need to clear your head,” Riki insists, with a firm but gentle tone.

Finally, Heeseung sighs and realizes he’s right. “Okay, a short break,” he concedes, getting up from his chair.

Riki takes him to the small break room where there’s coffee and snacks. They sit down on the comfortable furniture, Heeseung leaning against him while he closes his eyes for a moment. He feels the tension beginning to dissipate, although the weight of the presentation still lingers.

“Look, Hee, you don’t have to carry all this alone, I’ve told you before. Let’s divide the tasks. I can take care of the visual part, and you focus on the content.”

Heeseung looks at him suddenly, surprised by the offer. “Really? I don’t want to overload you too. You already have a lot to do.”

“That doesn’t matter. Your well-being is more important. Besides, we’re a team. If one of us isn’t okay, we all feel it,” Riki says sincerely.

“Thanks, Ki. Sometimes I forget I don’t have to do it all by myself. I feel so pressured,” Heeseung confesses, feeling relief at being able to share his burden.

“It’s natural to feel that way, especially with the weight of the event. But we’ll do a great job together, as always,” Riki assures him, smiling. “Speaking of teamwork… what’s going on between you and Jungwon?”

Heeseung tenses, feeling the question hit a sensitive spot. “I don’t know. After that argument, I worry this will affect our relationship. I feel there’s something more between us, but I don’t know how to handle it.”

“Does he matter to you?” Riki asks, taking the expression on Heeseung’s face.

“Yes, of course he matters. But now everything feels so complicated. I don’t want to ruin our friendship,” he stammers, feeling frustration in his chest.

“Listen. Sometimes, silence can make things even more complicated. Have you considered talking to him? You just need to be honest about how you feel,” Riki advises sincerely.

“And what if he doesn’t feel the same? What if I ruin everything by telling him how I feel?” Heeseung responds, his voice filled with insecurity.

“It’s a risk, yes, but it’s worth it. If you really care, you should take the chance, because avoiding it won’t help.”

Heeseung stays silent, reflecting on Riki’s words. The idea of opening up to Jungwon scares him, but it also gives him a spark of hope. “You’re right. I can’t keep avoiding this.”

“Of course I’m right, I’m always right.” The younger one takes the opportunity to joke a bit to lighten the mood, and it works; Heeseung lets out a laugh that makes him smile. “But seriously, fix things. I miss seeing you two together; everyone here does. Plus, it’s really awkward being divided.”

“Sorry, Ki.” Heeseung smiles turns a little sheepishly. Things shouldn’t have gone this far. “I’ll sort it out soon, I promise. And thanks for the advice, I didn’t know you were so good at this.”

“Anytime, man.” Riki winks at him, and they both laugh because it came out rather awkwardly.

With that conversation, Heeseung feels a part of his burden lift. Grateful for his friend’s support, he feels more motivated to face the situation with Jungwon.

Finally, after several days of tension, Heeseung decides to take the first step to fix things. With his heart racing, he approaches Jungwon just before the presentation about galaxies in collision; the one they had been working on before, which practically caused everything. The atmosphere is charged with anticipation, with the team finalizing details and equipment ready for the event.

And Jungwon is right there, focused on his phone. He looks beautiful tonight —as always. With that beige knitted cardigan, white t-shirt underneath and loose, light-colored cargo pants. It's casual, but he looks soft from a distance and Heeseung just wants to hug him and forget everything that happened.

So, he nervously gets closer to him.

“Uhm, hey, Jungwon,” Heeseung says, hands trembling.

“Yeah?” Jungwon responds, looking up at him, his eyes filled with curiosity and a bit of fear.

“I… I’m sorry about the other day,” Heeseung admits, feeling anxiety wash over him. His voice is a whisper, but his sincerity resonates in the tense air.

Jungwon watches him, his expression shifting to one of understanding. “I’m sorry too. I didn’t mean to make you feel like I didn’t value your effort. I just… felt overwhelmed.”

In that moment, Jungwon feels a mix of relief and vulnerability. Inside, he longs to everything to get back as it used to be. “I was worried this would affect our friendship,” Jungwon confesses, his voice very quiet. “I don’t want to lose what we have.”

Heeseung steps a little closer, battling his insecurity. “I get it. The pressure of the show and everything involved can be too much, but that shouldn’t have driven us apart. I want you to know that I appreciate what we have.”

“I appreciate it too, Hee. Sometimes I forget that I’m not alone in this,” Jungwon admits, feeling the tension start to fade.

“Maybe we should talk and share how we feel before it builds up.” Heeseung suggests, his gaze filled with hope but also uncertainty.

“Yeah, that would be good." Jungwon says, smiling slightly, feeling the warmth of their connection beginning to return. "I promise to be more open with you.”

They look into each other’s eyes, and the air between them becomes lighter. The presentation is about to start, but before they head to the room, Heeseung takes Jungwon’s hand, making him turn back to him again. He catches him completely by surprise when he leans in and plants a kiss on his cheek, which soon turns a light pink, his dimple forming immediately.

“W-What was that?” Jungwon stammers, biting his lower lip to keep his smile from getting too big.

Heeseung shrugs, although his own face is flushed from his boldness. “Just a good luck kiss.”

Jungwon doesn’t say anything else; he just quickly returns the kiss before finally heading to the stage. The tension dissolves, and the show begins, but now, instead of feeling trapped by gravity, they feel liberated, ready to face any challenge together.

Their teammates, seeing them come out smiling and without that heavy aura they carried before, feel a palpable sense of relief. Sunoo and Riki exchange a satisfied glance, knowing the team is united again.

The lights dim, and soft ambient music starts to play, creating a magical atmosphere with Heeseung and Jungwon in their places at the center of the stage.

“Good evening, everyone, and welcome to our presentation on a fascinating phenomenon of the universe: galaxy collisions.” Jungwon opens the presentation. “Today we’ll explore how these collisions occur and what effects they have on the cosmos.”

As Jungwon speaks, two galaxies slowly approach, their stars and nebulas intertwining in a cosmic dance projected on the dome screen. The audience watches attentively, some with wide eyes, marveling at the images.

“That’s right. Galaxy collisions are impressive events that may seem catastrophic, but in reality, they're a natural part of galactic evolution.” Heeseung takes the floor this time. “Let’s start with an overview of what happens when two galaxies collide.”

Heeseung gestures toward the screen, where the animation shows the galaxies deforming and merging. The audience murmurs in admiration, and some point at it excitedly. “When two galaxies get close enough, their gravitational forces begin to interact. This can cause the galaxies to deform and their stars and gas to redistribute. Contrary to what we might imagine, the stars within the galaxies rarely collide due to the vast distances separating them.”

Jungwon smiles as he sees the amazed faces of the audience. So, noticing the positive reaction, he continues with enthusiasm. “Instead of direct collisions, what we see is a gravitational dance. The galaxies can merge into one, creating a new galactic structure. A famous example of this is the future collision between our Milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy, which is expected to happen in about 4 billion years.”

An image of the Milky Way and Andromeda appears, showing what they would look like when merging. The audience falls silent, absorbed in the magnitude of the event.

“During a collision, some stars may be expelled from the galaxies, while others can be absorbed by supermassive black holes at the centers of the merging galaxies. Additionally, the interaction can trigger the formation of new stars from the compressed gas and dust.”

“One impressive visual example of galactic collisions is the Antenna galaxies. These two galaxies are in the process of merging and exhibit long tails of stars and gas extending into space.” The screen display real images of the Antenna galaxies, with their spectacular tails of stars. The audience applauds, impressed by the beauty of the universe. “Computer simulations have allowed us to better understand these processes. By using realistic physics principles, scientists can recreate how galaxies interact and merge, helping us learn more about the evolution of the universe.”

“It’s fascinating to think that although these collisions may seem destructive, they're also opportunities for creation. New stars and planetary systems can form from the chaos, showcasing the beauty and resilience of the cosmos.” Heeseung smiles, looking at Jungwon, who proceeds to close.

“We hope you enjoyed this presentation on galaxy collisions. If you have any questions, we’ll be happy to answer them. Thank you for joining us on this journey through the universe once again.” Jungwon says, a smile on his own face, mirroring Heeseung’s.

And they look at each other, feeling that all their efforts have been worth it.

The final applauses still resonate as Heeseung and Jungwon step off the stage, feeling adrenaline and relief flowing through. Sunoo quickly surrounds them, congratulating them on the great job they did.

“You guys were incredible!” Sunoo exclaims. “It’s great to see you together again.”

“Thanks, Sun. It was a team effort,” Heeseung replies, a satisfied grin on his face.

The buzz continues around them, but they slip away to a quieter corner of the room, where the lights are softer and the noise fades. “Are you feeling okay?” Jungwon asks, still glowing from the excitement of the show.

“Yeah, better now that it’s over. But… I feel a bit drained,” Heeseung admits, looking down.

Jungwon nods, understanding the pressure they both felt. “Yeah, it’s been pretty intense. But we made it together, didn't we?”

“That’s what matters most to me,” Heeseung says, lifting his gaze and meeting Jungwon’s eyes.

In that moment, the silence between them feels charged with meaning. Heeseung takes a deep breath and, with a determined gesture, takes Jungwon’s hand and squeezes it gently. “You know? It's fascinating how, despite all the chaos, galaxies find a way to come together and create something new and wonderful,” he says, referring to the projection they showed.

“It’s amazing, right? Makes me think of us. Sometimes things can be complicated, but we can still find a way to be together,” Jungwon responds, tightening his grip on their hands to emphasize his point.

The universe seems to pause, and the emotion of the show and the reconciliation intertwine like their hands, creating an intimate space just for them.

After a quiet little while, Heeseung makes an intervention. “Can I ask you for something?” he says, his voice a bit hesitant.

“Sure, whatever you need,” Jungwon replies, looking at him with curiosity.

“I’d like a hug,” Heeseung whispers, his tone laced with shyness.

Jungwon, smiling warmly, opens his arms. Heeseung steps closer and lets himself be enveloped by the hug, feeling the warmth and security Jungwon provides, who gently caresses his hair where his hands meet at the back of his neck. It’s a moment of pure connection, where tensions and fears dissipate.

“Thanks,” Heeseung murmurs.

“Uhm, I needed this too." Jungwon replies, holding on a little tighter, enjoying the closeness. "I missed you.”

As they slowly separate, their gazes meet again, doe eyes level with cat-like ones and the atmosphere suddenly becomes dense. Heeseung feels his heart race, and for a moment, his gaze drops a little from those beautiful eyes to Jungwon’s lips.

Big mistake.

He feels himself hyperventilating when he notices those pink lips, which seem soft and glisten a bit, perhaps from the balm he always uses. He wonders what specific taste they might have as he unconsciously leans in a bit closer. Jungwon swallows hard when he sees Heeseung’s intentions but doesn’t pull away, and he has a hard time comprehending why his body reacts the way it does when Heeseung lowers his hands from his back to his waist, feeling the shake breath that escapes him at the gentle path they take. That only makes Heeseung’s senses go haywire, and—

"Wonie."

"Y-yes?"

"I..."

“Guys!" Sunoo appears out of nowhere, a big smile on his face. "How about we go to karaoke? I’ve brought my favorite playlist!”

Heeseung and Jungwon separate abruptly, their faces flushing. “Sunoo!” they exclaim in unison, (not so) surprised by the interruption.

“What? You don't want to?" He pouts, "Come on, it's gonna be fun!” Sunoo says, seemingly oblivious to the tension he just broke.

Jungwon laughs nervously, while Heeseung runs his hand through his blue hair, trying to regain his composure. “Yeah, sure, karaoke sounds… great,” he says, feeling his heart still racing.

“Perfect! Let’s go. I already texted Sunghoonie, he'll meet us there.” Sunoo replies, dragging them towards the exit, leaving behind the moment that almost transformed their something into everything.

They walk away, and both glance at each other, smiling at the situation. They know that despite the interruption, there’s something special between them that can no longer be ignored; they are two galaxies just one step away from merging to form a new, larger, and more beautiful one.

They walk hand in hand through the park, and the air is filled with a gentle breeze that carries the sweet scent of blooming flowers. The sun sinks toward the horizon and splashes the sky with vibrant shades of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their evening.

“Are we almost there?” Jungwon asks, his curiosity piqued as he glances at Heeseung, who wears a playful smile.

“Just a little further,” Heeseung replies, trying to contain his excitement. He leads Jungwon down a winding path, their chatter echoing softly in the quiet evening.

Finally, they reach the spot where Heeseung has set everything up. The moment Jungwon steps into the space, a wide smile traces his lips.

The blanket is spread out invitingly on the grass, adorned with a scattering of fairy lights around a nearby tree branch that twinkle like stars. There’s snacks and a thermos of hot chocolate, steam rising gently into the cool air.

There’s also a guitar case, but he seems oblivious to it just yet.

“This looks… beautiful.” Jungwon says, his voice filled with awe. He takes in the sight of the cozy setup, the soft glow of the lights illuminating the area like a scene from a dream.

Heeseung beams with pride, feeling a rush of happiness at Jungwon’s reaction. “I wanted to recreate our first date,” His voice is smooth like the whisper of the wind, but he realizes what he has just said and quickly adds, “I mean, that night when we saw the Perseids shower, yeah.”

Jungwon's eyes sparkle with the light of memories. “It was amazing. I’ll never forget how excited you got every time you saw one.” His laughter is melodic, and his heart race as he recalls that moment.

“I remember throwing a bit of popcorn at you when one passed, right?” Heeseung laughs softly.

“Yes, you scared me!”

Jungwon walks closer to the blanket, noticing the little details—how the snacks are arranged just right and the way the fairy lights cast a warm glow around them. It feels intimate and special, a perfect setting for what Heeseung has planned.

“You really put a lot of thought into this,” Jungwon says, his chest swelling with affection. He turns to Heeseung, showing his charming dimples. “Thank you.”

Heeseung feels a wave of warmth wash over him, knowing there’s still a smile on his face. “I’m glad you like it. Sunoo helped me set everything up.”

“Sunoo?” Jungwon arches a brow, and then laughs at the thought of it. “I can’t believe he helped you with this!”

“Yeah, he was really excited about it,” Heeseung chuckles, looking back at Sunoo’s enthusiastic suggestions for the perfect snacks and the best spot in the park. “He even insisted on helping me with the lights.”

“I can totally see that. He must have been a great assistant.”

As they settle down on the blanket, Jungwon leans back, gazing up above. The sky is a deep, velvety blue, gradually darkening as the last traces of twilight fade away. Scattered across are countless stars, shining like tiny diamonds, creating a mesmerizing display that feels both timeless and infinite; they blend together, forming a soft, glowing path that arcs gracefully overhead.

That beauty fills them with a sense of wonder and peace. It seems to hold a promise of endless possibilities, reflecting the new beginnings in their own lives. All that universe above them serves as a reminder of how small yet significant their small moment together is.

The night unfolds like a soft cloak over the world, the cool air caressing their faces as Heeseung and Jungwon settle down on some chat, sharing snacks and reminiscing about their days together. And Heeseung feels the anticipation building inside him.

After a while, he takes a deep breath and says, “I have something special for you.”

I hope he doesn’t notice how nervous I am, Heeseung prays as he faces Jungwon.

“What?”

Jungwon can barely react when he sees Heeseung picking up the guitar he clearly didn’t notice before.

“I, uh, I know how much you like this song so I…” Heeseung doesn’t know what else to say, so he just strums the first few notes. The soft melody fills the air, blending with the sounds of the night.

Jungwon’s heart is caught in his throat as he immediately recognizes the instrumental. Heeseung is playing Venus, his favorite song. The one he plays over and over again on his phone while they’re into their little reunions to share stories about the stars with laughs in between.

Heeseung learned how to play his favorite song in the entire universe. He’s there, sitting in front of him, guitar on his lap, his dark blue hair blowing in the air, smile on his pretty lips, singing for him. Jungwon gets mesmerized by his soft and soothing voice, and he feels it in every corner of his soul.

And suddenly he lifts his gaze, two worlds colliding. Heeseung almost forgets the entire song he practiced for weeks as he watches Jungwon, a smile on his own mouth, so beautiful that it’s winning against the very beauty of the planets and his eyes…

Oh, those eyes. Heeseung loves those eyes, and he only could think the universe must have loved Jungwon so much, too, because he put all the brightest stars in those rounds, shining eyes. Heeseung gets so lost in them that he doesn’t even notice when he stops playing; he only realizes it when Jungwon starts clapping, amazed by his little and personal concert.

“That was…” Jungwon begins, but he’s lost of words, so he just sighs, “Wow.”

Heeseung chuckles slightly, suddenly feeling shy because did I really do this? I’m so cheesy, Oh God.

“I-I didn’t know you could sing, this good, and even play the guitar.” Jungwon mentions after a few seconds of silence. “You’re full of surprises, Lee Heeseung.”

“Yeah.” He smiles, heat starting to pool on his cheeks, ears, neck, and probably his whole body too. “Just a hobby, it’s nothing serious.”

“But it was beautiful, thank you.” Jungwon reaches to take his hand, his thumb tracing some constellations on his skin.

Heeseung takes the chance to intertwine their fingers, loving to see just how perfect they fit together. “I felt like I needed to give you something as a reward for everything you’ve done for me these past months, even if it’s something as simple as a song. So, I should be the one saying thank you.”

“You don’t owe me anything, you know it’s a pleasure for me to work and share everything I know with you.” The smile remains in his lips and Heeseung starts to feel a little bit nervous about it.

He feels the heat rising even more and quickly changes the topic, “So, um, what are we going to study tonight?”

Jungwon giggles at that, sensing the shift but going along with it. “We’re diving into binary stars.” He reaches into his bag and pulls out a thick book, kind of old but his favorite one, placing it between them.

Heeseung lets out a small sigh of relief, grateful for the distraction. “Binary stars, huh? I like them.”

“Me too, Binary stars are fascinating, and their interactions can tell us a lot about stellar evolution” Jungwon opens the book to a bookmarked page, revealing detailed diagrams and notes. “The're two stars orbiting around a common center of mass. Sometimes, they’re so close that they appear as a single bright star from Earth. But in reality, they are two, inseparable, always revolving around each other.”

“Ah, stars have such complex relationships.” Heeseung leans in, genuinely interested. “It’s like they’re dancing in the sky.”

“That’s a beautiful way to put it.” Jungwon chuckles, “Some binary stars are so close that they can even exchange material, which can lead to some pretty dramatic changes.”

“How do they manage to stay in balance then?”

“It’s gravity. Each star pulls on the other, and even though they're separated by millions of kilometers, their mutual attraction keeps them united. It’s a perfect balance, a cosmic dance like you said. The first binary system discovered was Mizar and Alcor, in the Big Dipper asterism.” Jungwon turns the page, pointing to a picture of said system. “My favorites are Albireo, in the constellation Cygnus. But the European Space Agency discovered that their components are about 70 light years apart, so they’re a visual double and not a binary. Look, Beta Cyg A, the brighter of the two is golden, and Beta Cyg B, the fainter, is blue. Aren’t they pretty?”

Like us.

As they delve deeper into the topic, Heeseung’s initial nervousness fades away, replaced by a shared enthusiasm for learning. They discuss the different types of binary stars, from eclipsing binaries to visual binaries like Albireo, and how astronomers study them. Heeseung, fascinated, couldn’t help but ask questions about every detail, leading to a lively discussion filled with laughter and wonder. Jungwon enjoyed seeing how Heeseung’s eyes lit up with each new revelation.

When Jungwon pauses for a moment, Heeseung is looking at him with a soft smile. “You know, it’s amazing how something so distant from us can be so beautiful and complex.”

Jungwon feels a warm glow inside, “I don’t think it’s that far away. I like to think that all the elements that make up our body were created in the heart of a star, so we’re our own little binary system, orbiting around each other. Right now.”

“So… we’re destined to shine together?”

The air between them suddenly shifts; now it’s not just about the stars. It’s about them, their feelings finally getting out. A silence falls, heavy yet electric, as if the universe itself is holding its breath, waiting for what comes next. Their gazes lock, unspoken words swirling in the space between. It’s fragile, this moment, but it’s real—raw and undeniable.

“Yeah.” Jungwon manages to breath out. “There’s stardust running through our veins, galaxies swirling in our souls and constellations hidden in our bones. I think that’s why my heart knew you before its lifetime. From the very first day I met you, I felt that we’re connected. As if the universe had conspired for us to meet. Every moment with you has been a confirmation that we’re children of the cosmos, star mates, and we’re destined to be together.”

He doesn’t know what he’s saying, really. It’s just his soul talking for him, his heart racing and making the golden star pendant shake against his chest. And somehow, he expects Heeseung to laugh, because honestly, he’s kind of crazy. He’s been for a while now. But Heeseung doesn’t laugh, he doesn’t say anything. Instead, he takes action.

Jungwon feels Heeseung’s hand come up to cup his cheeks and caress them ever so gently. Heeseung admires his face, the wonder in it, and then… a sweet clash of lips, and Heeseung tastes the entire cosmos he’s been learning about for the past few months. He feels stars in his fingertips when he touches his soft, slightly wavy hair, feels the expansion of the universe in his heart. There are supernovas, real ones, bursting behind his eyelids, and feels comets wandering through his stomach.

The soft rustle of pages from the open book and the faint hum of the night become a soothing background melody, enhancing the sense of stillness. And they get suspended in time, the world itself has paused to honor their love. Their breaths and heartbeats synchronize, like a pair of binary stars they had spoken about just minutes earlier, in perfect union.

In that moment, they feel like they’re part of something much greater, a cosmic connection that transcends time and space. Jungwon tilts his head and deepens their stardust flavored kiss, tongue slightly brushing across Heeseung’s bottom lip, shyly asking for permission. And Heeseung is enthusiastic, he opens his mouth and their lips become a tangled, galaxy collision mess.

Jungwon has always reached towards the stars in the sky not knowing that the one who shined brighter is the blue haired boy he has now in front of him, kissing him with all the love he has within him. I know that stars are born in enormous cold clouds made of gas and dust, nebulas that are small universes billions of light-years away. But you, my love, are that star for me, the one I don’t need to look up to find; you are already by my side, and that is all I need.

They break apart, breathless in love, and Heeseung sees Jungwon’s flushed face and swollen lips and he thinks forever. He swears he can see Vega and Beta Aquarii dancing in those dark yet sweet firmaments. And with all of that, Heeseung can feel himself falling a little bit more, not just with the universe he’s been discovering, but with the person he has by his side, making all brighter and more wonderful. And that’s when he knows, that they are each other’s infinity.

“Wonie…” Heeseung murmurs over Jungwon’s lips in a broken whisper.

“Yeah?”

“I felt it too.” He swallows hard, feeling the weight of his words. “From that very first moment, I also knew there was something special between us. And now, more than ever, I know it’s fate that we’re here.”

Jungwon smiles and blushes a little bit more, in the apple of his cheeks and the tips of his ears. And when Heeseung says his next words, he completely explodes.

“And I’m so in love. With you and your exceptionally beautiful blue canvas.”

It’s not exactly how Heeseung expected his life to go, all because he just wanted to make a project about the art behind the stars, but he doesn’t mind. How could he mind, with his star mate kissing him again as he says “I love you too,” between pecks.

From countless stars in the sky, the story ends with two of them together.

IX. EXPANSION OF THE UNIVERSE

As I reflect on this journey through the cosmos, I am struck by the profound ways in which different cultures interpret the stars above us. Each constellation, each myth, and each artistic expression tells a story that transcends time and geography, weaving a rich tapestry of human experience.

From the ancient Greeks who saw heroes and legends in the night sky to the Indigenous peoples who viewed the stars as ancestors guiding them, it is clear that our connection to the cosmos runs deep. The stars are not merely distant suns; they are mirrors reflecting our hopes, fears, and dreams. They inspire artists, poets, and storytellers to create works that resonate with the very essence of humanity.

In my exploration, I discovered how cultures use the stars to navigate not only the physical world but also their spiritual landscapes. The intricate patterns of the stars have influenced art forms—from the vibrant murals of the Mayans depicting celestial events to the delicate ink paintings of East Asian cultures that capture the tranquility of the night sky. Each piece serves as a reminder that, despite our differences, we all gaze up at the same stars, searching for meaning and connection.

This project has taught me that art is a universal language, one that allows us to express our relationship with the cosmos. It reveals how deeply intertwined our lives are with the celestial bodies that watch over us. As I conclude this exploration, I am filled with gratitude for the diverse perspectives that enrich our understanding of the universe.

The stars remind us that we are part of something larger than ourselves. They encourage us to dream, to create, and to connect with one another. In a world that often feels divided, the night sky serves as a unifying force, inviting us to share our stories and celebrate our shared humanity.

As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons learned from this project: that art, like the stars, has the power to illuminate our paths, inspire our hearts, and bridge the gaps between cultures. May we continue to look up, to wonder, and to create, forever inspired by the beauty of the universe that surrounds us.

The way Heeseung feels about Jungwon can be simplified like this: day by day, their love feels like the expansion of the universe; every twinkling star represents the moments Jungwon crosses his mind, every constellation a figure symbolizing how much he admires him, all the planets together measuring how much Jungwon means to him. Every shooting star carries each wish he makes for and because of him. And so he could go on, naming every element, component, and phenomenon within the Milky Way and even beyond it, because there truly is nothing that fully and completely expresses how much Heeseung loves Jungwon.

Reflecting on their journey, Heeseung realizes how much they have grown—not just as individuals but as partners navigating the complexities of life. The project he had poured his heart into has not only deepened his understanding of art and the cosmos but has also brought him closer to Jungwon, who has become his guiding star; his own beautiful North Star.

Now Blue and Golden are holding hands as soft music fills the space. They sway gently, letting the sound and their love for each other guide their movements. In that moment, everything feels perfect, as if the entire universe conspired to celebrate their love—a reunion of two stars finally together again.

The song comes to an end, and Jungwon looks at Heeseung, who seems lost in thought. “What’s on your mind, uhm?”

Heeseung smiles, his eyes shining with tenderness as he feels Jungwon’s fingers running through his hair. “Nothing. Just… I never thought I would find someone to share something so special with. And now that I’m here with you, I feel so lucky.”

“Uhm, I get that.” Jungwon reaches forward to kiss Heeseung’s smile, and it’s more like a clash of teeth since he’s grinning too, wide, deep dimples showing up; they both laugh at that, and when they go quiet again, Jungwon adds, “But here we are, two souls made of stars, meeting in this vast universe. And there’s nothing I want more than this.”

To love, how great is to love. Only the great souls are able and know how to love. Love in itself is a cosmic force, a universal force that palpitates within each atom as it palpitates within each Sun. The stars also know how to love. If we observe on the delicious nights of the full Moon, we see them approach one another and at times they fusion or integrate totally. “A collision of worlds” the astronomers exclaim but truly what has really happened is that two worlds have integrated through a bond of love.

Jungwon once read something over these lines, he never truly understood those words until he met Heeseung and his first thought was I want to know and feel you more, marvel at the way the universe aligned to make us get together again.

“Wonie.” He hears him saying, and Jungwon’s eyes flick up to him, filled with warmth. Heeseung clears his throat. “Do you think we could like… kiss some more? Before we have to get back to work?”

Jungwon laughs, so hard that Heeseung is almost offended until Jungwon is hooking an arm around his neck and pressing that laughter into his mouth. Heeseung suddenly forgets everything and just keeps kissing the love of his life.

They kiss for a few minutes after that, gently, experimentally, breaking apart to only giggle and whisper about whatever comes to mind like, “Can you sing for me?”

“What do you want me to sing?”

“That one you’re always humming, I like it.”

“Okay.” Heeseung gives him another kiss and then he starts singing, just as Jungwon asked for.

Cause you’re all I want, you’re all I need. You’re everything.

“I told you they were gonna be okay.” Jay whispers to Jake.

Yes, they’re eavesdropping again. Jake couldn’t help but get drawn to the sound of music coming softly from the observation terrace, Jay following him. They found the couple listening to some music, and completely witnessed as Heeseung took Jungwon’s hand and led him into a slow dance.

“Aw, they’re so cute.” Jake coos, pout on his lips as he watches Heeseung twirling Jungwon gently, his eyes sparkling with affection as he whispers something that makes Jungwon laugh, the sound ringing out like music itself.

Jay chuckles softly, his gaze never leaving Jake. “And look at you, getting all mushy. It’s adorable.” He wraps an arm around Jake’s waist, pulling him closer.

His eyes sparkle with mischief when he turns his gaze back to Jay. “Maybe I should take you dancing next.”

And Jay laughs, the sound light and airy. “You? Dancing? I’d pay to see that!”

His boyfriend feigns offense, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. “Hey! I can dance! But not in public… yet.”

Just then, Jungwon caught sight of them, his laughter halting as he waved enthusiastically. “Hey! Come join us!” he called, his face lighting up with excitement.

Jake looks at Jay, his eyes wide with excitement. “Should we?”

“Why not?” Jay replies, his grin contagious. “Let’s show them our moves, baby.”

They say that when you meet that special someone, time stops, and the world shifts around them. Heeseung felt this new reality take shape when he found Jungwon. Their first conversation blossomed into a friendship that soon became something deeper. Jungwon, his star, now flooded his senses, and Heeseung knew he loved him.

Maybe it took them a little while to understand it, but when they finally embraced, there were no doubts; they were made for each other, and the wait had been worth it.

The reward was immense. Heeseung confirmed it when he marveled at the precious nebulae in Jungwon’s brown eyes. In that fleeting moment, as stars exploded around them, particles hanging in the air, he saw the brilliance of Jungwon’s gaze fixed on him. And there were blue clouds mingling with gold above him and the galaxy in his smile revealed a radiant soul that Heeseung felt he had known forever. It was unforgettable. Because he felt it— that boy was the one who completed his other half: his Jungwon. Their bond was the genesis of the shared story of those star mates.

Who could say that destiny is so capricious? It intertwines paths, making people important to one another through small, seemingly insignificant acts that might be ignored by others, but for someone, it might mean everything in their personal universe. Like a kiss on the check, a chocolate milkshake, a cosmic painting, a stargaze date, a dance under the night sky.

Though they began apart, they were always together, born with the same purpose. They grew, formed, and found each other again, guided by the invisible thread that connected them since their creation. That thread pointed to the truth: the person before them was their missing half.

That’s what people call a love that transcends time. It’s a connection born from a single glance, a feeling that defies logical understanding. It’s simply something to be felt, a love that needs no explanation.

Forever and always, Jungwon and Heeseung.

Notes:

wow, what a ride. i spent like 4 months planning and then writing this and the last month editing everything, and even though i wanted to SCREAM sometimes because it felt like too much, it was really fun and i'm proud of myself for finally giving this very self indulged fic the opportunity to see the light.

i'd love to hear what y'all think about this one in the comments, and as always, kudos are appreciated!

thank you so much for reading, this was my gift to all the heewonists out there. hope you enjoyed it <3
