"And my lipstick is Uncensored Stunna Lip Paint by Fenty Beauty from Sephora."
Lily glanced up when she heard Mary's voice, confused for a moment as to why she was listing off every makeup item she was wearing and where she bought it. Then, it hit her. A "get ready with me" video for social media.
She smiled to herself as she finished her own makeup for tonight's party. Her look was far subtler than Mary's bold red lip and smoky eyes. Lily wished she could pull it off, but red lipstick always seemed like too much with her auburn hair. No matter which shade of red she tried, it always looked off. Red was 100% Mary's colour though.
It suits Pandora too. I wonder if she's coming to Marlene's party.
The chances were decent that she would, since Marlene was seeing Dorcas and Pandora was close with Dorcas. Her cheeks heated at the thought of Pandora's typical party look. Lily rolled her eyes at her reflection for getting flustered over body glitter and gems. It's not my fault! She sparkles like a fairy! Lily fanned her face with her eyeshadow palette to calm the flush. If Mary caught her swooning over Pandora at her vanity again, she'd never hear the end of it.
"Are you camera ready, Lils?" Mary called, wandering into her room.
"Yes, just a bit overheated.. the lights, you know." Mary laughed as she checked her reflection in her phone camera, wiping away the tiniest smudge of eyeliner. She glanced at Lily's reflection and scrunched her nose. "It should be a crime how good you look with a nude lip."
"Hmm? Oh, go on." Lily waved her off dismissively.
"No, really! It's a party though, why don't you go a bit brighter?"
Lily tipped her head to one side to study her reflection and considered Mary's advice. "Won't that leave lip marks if I find someone to snog?"
"Are you planning to?" Mary checked, a teasing grin on her face.
"Not really, but I wouldn't turn down Pandora if she asked," Lily admitted with a shrug.
Mary's eyes widened as she turned her phone screen toward Lily. "Did you just reveal your crush while I'm on live?!"
Panic shot through Lily's chest. "Live? No! I thought you were filming a video!"
"I always do a live before we leave!" Mary protested. "You said you watched my channel!"
Lily pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. "I do, but not the lives. Well, hopefully she didn't see it."
"About that.." Mary pressed her lips together and hollowed her cheeks.
Lily swung around on her stool in a panic. "Mary? Why are you making that face?"
Mary tapped "accept" and turned her screen toward Lily with an apologetic grin. The chat was flying over the screen at an absurd pace with people typing "omg" and "love her in a nude lip" She waved when someone said "Hi Lily," then froze.
Pandora's image appeared on the screen as she joined the live. She flashed a mischievous grin and said, "Hey Lily? This is me asking."
"Oh. My. God," Mary said, eyes wide.
The chat exploded as Lily stared back at her in stunned silence. Eventually, Mary prodded her shoulder and hissed, "Answer her, Lils!"
Lily jumped, then flushed bright pink. "Right, erm...call me?"
