Work Text:
The snow fell gently over the plains, a blanket of white that covered the land in stillness and beauty. It was a cold, unforgiving winter, the kind that painted the world in shades of blue and silver. Yet beneath the frost, the hearts of two young men were anything but still. Izuku Midoriya, son of the revered elders of the sheep tribe, stood by the edge of his village, gazing toward the distant peaks where the wolves of the neighboring tribe made their home.
His sheep, Might, stood at his side—a large, soft-eyed creature who had been with the tribe for generations. Might wasn’t just a sheep, though. He was a symbol of strength, a reminder of the great battle fought against raiders long ago when Izuku’s father had been a boy. The tales of All Might, the legendary hero who had led the charge and saved their people, still lingered in the whispers of the tribe’s elders.
Izuku’s bond with Might had always been one of peace and reflection, qualities that defined the sheep tribe as a whole. But something inside him stirred when he thought of Katsuki Bakugo, the heir of the wolf tribe. Their alliance was a strong one, built on trade and cooperation, yet there was an underlying tension between them. And though Izuku would never admit it, his heart beat faster at the mere thought of him.
Katsuki Bakugo, heir to the mighty wolf tribe, had never been one for quiet contemplation. His tribe, known for its fierce warriors and their ability to thrive in the harshest of conditions, was led by his mother. The wolves were as untamed as the mountains they called home, fierce and protective, and Katsuki was no exception. His wolf, Dynamite, was the embodiment of his fiery spirit—wild, unpredictable, and fiercely loyal.
But Katsuki wasn’t just defined by his tribe’s strength. Deep down, a yearning stirred within him, something that neither his mother’s training nor the challenges of leadership could quell. It was something he didn’t understand—something about Izuku, the calm, thoughtful boy from the sheep tribe who was so different from him.
The two had spent years together as children, their tribes bound by their need to protect one another. And over time, they’d become... something more. Whenever the two tribes met for trade or alliance talks, their paths crossed, and their interactions were charged with unspoken words. Izuku’s gentle nature seemed to soften something inside Katsuki, even though he would never admit it.
One fateful night, under the glow of a thousand stars and with the snowfall light as feathers, Katsuki made up his mind. He found Izuku standing by the edge of the village, his hands wrapped tightly around the wool of his sheep. Katsuki stood a little apart, watching him with an intensity that belied the stillness of the evening. Finally, he spoke.
“Deku,” he said, his voice rough, “I’ve been wanting to tell you something.”
Izuku turned, startled, his eyes wide as he met Katsuki’s gaze. “What is it, Kacchan?”
Katsuki took a deep breath, the cold air biting at his skin. “I don’t know how to say this, but—” He hesitated, his pride warring with the vulnerability that crept in when he saw Izuku’s kind eyes. “I... I like you. A lot. More than I should, maybe. And I don’t know why it’s been eating at me for so long, but... I can’t stop thinking about you.”
Izuku’s heart skipped a beat. A blush colored his cheeks, and for a moment, he stood frozen, unsure of what to say. The winter winds blew gently between them, carrying with it the scent of pine and the faint echo of distant wolves howling.
“I—Kacchan, I feel the same,” Izuku finally admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
The air between them shifted in that moment. The icy cold of the winter night no longer felt quite so biting. Katsuki’s gaze softened, and for once, Izuku saw something different in his eyes—something far gentler than the usual fire that burned there.
Their secret meetings became more frequent after that night. Each time they met, it was like the world around them faded into the distance. They’d spend hours together, walking through the snow, talking about everything and nothing. The tension between them eased, but neither dared to take the next step—afraid of what it might mean, or what their tribes might think. Still, every touch, every lingering gaze, spoke of a bond deeper than either had ever expected.

The village of the sheep tribe, nestled in the valley below the mountain range where the wolves made their home, was a peaceful place. Life was simple. Izuku spent most of his days tending to the herd, helping his father with his work, and trying to avoid the usual bickering with Katsuki over trivial matters.
But as the months passed, something darker began to loom over the horizon. The fragile peace that the sheep and wolf tribes had fought so hard to maintain was now under threat. Whispers of invaders, the League of Villains, spread across the land. Though neither tribe had seen any direct attack, rumors of their intentions sent a ripple of anxiety through both tribes.
The night of the invasion arrived, colder than any before it. Snow fell heavily, and the wind howled through the mountains like a wild beast. The sheep tribe’s village had always been safe, nestled within the hills, but now it felt more vulnerable than ever. Izuku, Katsuki, and their tribesmen stood ready, their weapons in hand as the distant sound of hooves and snarls reached their ears.
They fought together—side by side. Katsuki, his wolf, and the rest of the warriors of the wolf tribe, charged through the snow like a force of nature. Izuku, with Might at his side, defended the village, keeping the raiders at bay as best as he could.
But the battle was fierce. And in the chaos, Izuku found himself separated from Katsuki. He had just managed to strike down one of the invaders when Shigaraki appeared before him, his eyes glowing with malice.
"You’re a fool to think you can protect them," Shigaraki taunted, his voice dripping with contempt.
Izuku stood his ground, but in the heat of the moment, he found himself thrown off balance. In a flash, Shigaraki’s hand reached out, sending a painful shock through Izuku’s body.
“No!” Katsuki shouted, rushing forward to protect Izuku. But it was too late.
Izuku collapsed, his body wracked with pain. Katsuki’s heart thudded painfully in his chest as he saw the damage done. Rage flooded his veins.
Katsuki’s fury was unmatched. With a scream, he unleashed all his power. Dynamite howled alongside him as he tore through the enemy, each strike fueled by his desperation to save Izuku. When he found Shigaraki again, he showed no mercy.
His explosions rocked the air, and with a final, devastating blow, Shigaraki was vanquished. The League of Villains, broken and scattered, retreated into the night, their mission a failure.
But the victory felt hollow in Katsuki’s chest. Izuku was still on the ground, his body battered and broken. Katsuki cradled him in his arms, his eyes frantic. "Deku! Don’t you dare die on me!"
Izuku’s recovery was slow, the injury deep and painful. Every day, Katsuki stayed by his side, unwilling to leave him alone. It was during these moments—when the world felt frozen and still—that they began to understand the depth of their bond. Katsuki, who had always been proud and self-assured, learned the true meaning of vulnerability. Izuku, though in pain, found comfort in Katsuki’s unwavering presence.
As the snow began to melt, a new season dawned—one of healing, both for Izuku’s body and for the fragile relationship between the two tribes. The alliance was stronger than ever, and the love between Izuku and Katsuki had deepened into something unbreakable.
Months later, as the first flowers began to bloom and the harsh winter winds subsided, Izuku and Katsuki stood together beneath a sky of endless blue. Their people celebrated the peace, their hearts light for the first time in months.
And in the quiet of that moment, Katsuki took Izuku’s hand. "I’ll never leave you," he promised.
Izuku smiled, his heart full. "And I’ll always be by your side."
With the warmth of the sun on their skin and the world at peace, they stepped into the future together—stronger, bound by love, and ready for whatever might come.
