LUCY AND CELINA’S APARTMENT... TIME TO UNWIND, RELAX AND MAYBE ORDER IN SOME SUSHI...
A sigh of relief escaped both Lucy’s and Celina’s mouths as they entered their apartment.
“Man... what a day.” Celina says, as Lucy closed and locked the door behind them.
“Tell me about it.” Lucy replied with a small chuckle.
“I mean sure, we’ve had plenty of crazy days but this was just nuts. Shootout at the laundromat. And then what you did.” Celina says.
Lucy turned and looked at her roommate in slight confusion.
“Me ?” Lucy asks.
“Yeah, you. You and Lopez drove after Tim and that fleeing suspect and you literally jumped from a moving vehicle to another one and saved Tim. If that’s not badass, then I don’t know what is.” Celina tells her.
“Thanks but it was a team effort. We all did our part today.” Lucy replies with a smile.
“True but you were the one that jumped from a moving vehicle without hesitating, so you should get some extra credit.” Celina says, making Lucy chuckle again as she began walking towards her room.
Celina calling out to her, made Lucy stop though and turn back around again.
“Oh, hey... um... I hope i’m not crossing any lines here by asking this, considering i’m your new roommate and still a rookie...” Celina begins to explain.
“Girl, no. You can ask me anything. What’s up ?” Lucy asks.
“Are you and Tim... you know... good ?” Celina asks out of curiosity.
She notices the way Lucy opens her mouth slightly but freezes for a moment.
She immediately regrets asking the question.
“It’s fine, if you don’t want to answer that. Forget I said anything.” Celina immediately says.
“No, no. It’s fine. It’s uh... well... it’s still too early to say but I think we’re getting there.” Lucy answers honestly, with Celina nodding at her.
“I know the problem me and Aaron had was nothing compared to you and Tim but we’re getting there, you know ? Still a bit more work to be done but me and him are in a good place. You and Tim will get there too, one day.” Celina says, giving Lucy some hope.
“I would like that.” Lucy says sincerely.
A moment of silence passed before Celina decided to lighten the mood and smacked her hands together very lightly.
“So... want to order in some sushi and watch Top Chef together ?” She asks.
“Yes ! Definitely. Just gonna take a shower first.” Lucy replies.
“Alright, then.” Celina says before heading to her room, as Lucy went to her own.
She was thankful to have Celina as her friend and roommate.
MEANWHILE AT TIM’S HOUSE...
Getting out of his car, locking it and walking up the steps to his front door; Tim stopped upon hearing his mobile ringing.
He picks it up to see Angela calling him.
“Hey, how are you feeling ? You good ?” He asks.
“You mean after getting shot with my vest taking the bullet for me ? Yeah, i’m all fine and dandy. What about you ? How’s that pretty face of your’s ?” Lopez says with a smirk.
“Funny.” Tim replies.
“No, really. You having a cute face is only one of the very few good things you have going about you.” Angela continues to tease him.
“Very few good things, huh ? Ok; you seem to be fine and all jokingly, so i’m hanging up now.” Tim says.
“Wait, hold up. Being serious now; how are you really ?” Lopez asks sincerely.
Tim thinks for a moment before answering her.
“I’m fine. It’s just a small cut. I’ve been through worse.” Tim says.
“You know that’s not what I was talking about.” She says.
“(Sighs) Yeah... I know.” Tim replies.
“I saw the way you and Lucy looked at each other, when she showed up for the mission. It doesn’t take a genius to see that you both still care about each other.” Angela tells him.
“I’m always gonna care about her, Angela. That’s never gonna change. We uh... talked for a moment, before the mission and then again afterwards, in the elevator at the station.” Tim admits.
“How did it go ?” She asks.
“It was good. At least I think it was. Still a lot of work to be done, especially on my part. I just hope we’ll get to a good place, someday.” Tim says.
“You will. And don’t forget; you can always come talk to your BFF for advice, whenever you want to.” López says with a smile.
“I told you, I don’t have any BFF’s. I’m a grown ass adult.” Tim reminds her.
“Yeah, you do. You can technically only have one and deep down, you know it’s me.” Angela tells him with that beaming smile on her face.
“Whatever. Goodnight, Angela.” Tim says.
“Goodnight, boo.” Angela says, with Tim forming a small smile while shaking his head and then hangs up.
Tim proceeds to head inside his house and closes the door behind him, dropping his backpack onto the floor and stares out to the living in front of him.
It was quiet, a bit cold and of course, dark.
Sighing again; he thinks about the days and nights Lucy would come over to his place.
The memories they had here.
The joy it brought him.
How happy they were.
He missed that but he missed her, even more.
Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath; Tim was brought out of it quickly when he heard something running towards him.
“Hey, buddy.” Tim said quietly with a small but sad smile as Kojo jumped up and placed his paws onto Tim’s chest, giving him a quick lick on the face.
Tim hears the small worrying sound of whimpering coming from Kojo, as his loyal companion notices the small cut on his owner’s face.
“It’s alright buddy, honest. I’m fine. Just a little banged up. It’s nothing.” Tim says to assure him.
Kojo whimpers once more before jumping off Tim and follows him to the couch, where Tim sits down and places his phone on the coffee table, as Kojo climbs up and lays down next to Tim.
Tim leans back, gently strokes Kojo with his right hand and stares up at the ceiling and let’s out another sigh.
He closes his eyes again for a few minutes and tries to relax but he couldn’t.
He opened his eyes and looked down at his phone, just sitting there.
He felt the need to call or text Lucy. Just to see how’s she doing.
Sure, they talked not too long ago in the elevator and part of him thought he should give her some space after today.
But the urge to talk to her, was just too powerful.
He picks it up, going into his messages and quickly finds Lucy.
His fingers are itching to type away but Tim stops and tries to think what to say.
Meanwhile at Lucy’s place; she is in her bedroom, wrapped in a towel and finishing drying her hair with another one, when she hears a ping coming from her phone.
Letting go of the towel she was using to dry her hair; she picks up her phone and sees a message from Tim.
Sitting down on the edge of her bed; Lucy takes a deep breath before reading it.
Tim: Hey, just checking in. I know we already talked earlier but I just wanted to make sure you’re ok. And that I needed you to know that what I said, I meant every word.
Lucy takes another deep breath before typing back.
Tim immediately hears a ping coming from his phone and picks it back up.
Lucy: I know that you did. Never doubted it for a second.
Tim forms a small smile upon reading it.
Both of them stare at their phone screens, wondering who should type again next.
They were both at a lose, not sure want to say. Both knew it was still early days and they would have to work hard and fight to get back to a good place.
But deep down; both were wondering if this was the start of it. They hoped it was.
Neither of them could imagine the world without the other being in it.
Taking her eyes away from her phone for a moment; Lucy noticed what was standing on the top of her chest drawer and felt her heart beating stronger.
It was the card from Tim that he had Kojo deliver to her, for her birthday.
Lucy knew she would never get rid of it. It means too much to her.
It’s something she would cherish forever.
Breathing in through her nose; Lucy found the courage to continue talking to Tim and begins typing again on her phone.
Lucy: I never got the chance to thank you by the way.
Tim: Thank me for what ?
Lucy: For the card. I love it. Thank you.
Tim smiles a bit more before typing again.
Tim: Believe it or not; that was Kojo’s idea.
Lucy let’s out a quiet chuckle and smiles.
Lucy: Yeah, right.
The two still continue to smile at they stare at their phones, imagining the other is doing the same thing.
Lucy: Well; please thank Kojo for me.
Tim: Will do.
Lucy: And seriously; thank you for the card, Tim. It means a lot to me.
Tim: Of course. Goodnight, Lucy.
Lucy: Goodnight, Tim.
The two turn off their phones and hold them against their chests, staring out into the room they’re in.
Thinking about their conversation.
Thinking about each other.
What they really wanted to say to each other.
“I miss you.” They both say simultaneously.
The end.
