Work Text:
The game was intense, and the public was deafening but the result was always the same: The Jackals won once again. Five wins in a row and undefeated since the beginning of the season and headed for the league title back to back.
Rin sighed. He really thought today would be the day he finally kicked Atsumu’s ass. EJP trained for days, literal weeks, they watched every game of the jackals and yet they still lost. Rin even spent his evening watching and analyzing Atsumu and Hinata’s new short quick attack but in the end, it didn’t matter, their attack smashed eight times in three sets on their side of the court.
Atsumu did two service aces and Sakusa did three. Rin tried so hard to block them but the two jackals were simply stronger. Atsumu was on fire today just like Bokuto and Hinata. Sakusa and Atsumu looked like they had a telepathic bond. Every time Atsumu set the ball, Sakusa was right there smashing the ball in their side of the court.
Rin entered the locker room of the Jackals stadium while hearing Atsumu and the rest of his team yelling and celebrating in their home locker. Rin sighed again. He and Atsumu agreed to go to Miya Onigiri after the game with Sakusa and the rest of the Jackals but now Rin didn’t want to go anymore.
Sure, he would spend time with his husband, but seeing Atsumu’s smirk and hearing his teasing were enough to make him reconsider.
Also, he would still see Osamu tonight in the comfort of their home so why bother enduring the torture of Atsumu’s presence and ego?
Rin showered and came back to the locker. He started to change into his husband’s hoodie when he heard one of his teammates, Katsu, ask him. “You’re alright Rin?”
Rin nodded already thinking of his dear husband. At least he knew if he went to the shop and Atsumu was an ass toward him, Osamu wouldn’t hesitate to kick his twin’s ass and fuck Samu was hot when he was angry.
Katsu spoke again with an apologetic smile. “Must be hard to lose to your husband. Also, Atsumu seems to tease you a lot during the game. Are you going to be fine at home?”
Rin frozen. “What?” He turned his gaze to his teammate and frowned. Did he hear right? Did Katsu think he married Atsumu ?
Katsu winced. “Yeah we lost to your husband today and Atsumu couldn’t stop teasing you and-”
Before Rin could correct that no, he wasn’t married to Atsumu because ew he would never touch Atsumu even with a stick, Taro, a new teammate appeared from the shower. That guy arrived a month ago and was a bench warmer for now but act like he was the team’s star. Rin didn’t like him. He was like Bokuto but without the talent and his golden heart.
“Idiot, Rin isn’t married to Atsumu.”
“But his name is Miya,” replied Katsu frowning.
True. For the past two years, Rin wore proudly Miya R. on his back while Atsumu had Miya A. on his jersey since their wedding.
Atsumu got the idea two weeks after the wedding. He had contacted Rin’s club asking for a special floking with Rin’s number and showed the first Miya R. jersey saying he didn’t mind adding the letter A on his own.
Both Rin and Osamu assured him Rin could just put his first name on his jersey and Atsumu, that idiot simply smiled saying it would be just like in high school, sharing his name with his brother and now the only difference was his brother would be on the other side of the court.
Despite what Atsumu said, no Rin didn’t cry. No.
Taro spoke again. “Yeah because he married Miya Osamu , not Miya Atsumu. And honestly, I can understand. Atsumu is a scrub and a pain in the ass. His ego is the size of the country. I don’t know who on earth would willingly spend enough time with him or even fall in love with him. That dude is so unlo-”
The new teammate didn’t finish his sentence because Rin simply punched him in the face.
Taro fell on the ground holding his bloody nose and Rin was sure he broke it. In the corner of his eye, he sees Motoya raising his fists.
Right.
Since Atsumu and Kiyoomi were dating, Atsumu wasn’t just Rin’s family, he was also Motoya’s family. He wouldn’t be alone to defend him and from Motoya’s face, Rin wasn’t the only one who wanted to punch Taro again. Repeatedly.
Taro screamed holding his bloody nose. “What the fuck Miya? Did you lose your mind?”
Rin grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. “You never ever spoke like that about my brother-in-law again.”
Taro snarled. “The fuck? You also talk shit about him. Everyone talks shit about him nobody cares.”
It was true Rin insulted Atsumu. He insulted him daily but the difference between Taro and him was Rin wouldn’t hesitate to jump from a bridge for Atsumu or do a two-hour drive at three a.m. because the blond was sick and everyone knew when Atsumu was sick he only ate his Ma’s soup.
“I care.” Rin was so mad he just wants to punch him again. “Atsumu is my brother-in-law so you fucking shut up or I broke your nose again.”
Rin let him go and left the locker room. He needed to see Atsumu. See he was fine, happy, and smiling. That idiot wore his heart on his sleeve.
He cried when Rin and Osamu announced they were dating and later told Rin he was glad someone else loved his twin dearly.
He cried when they moved in together while helping them to pack their belonging and move out. He helped them to climb two floors with the couch and bed.
He cried when they announced their engagement even though he was with his brother when he chose the ring because everyone knows Atsumu has better taste than Osamu and Osamu can’t choose something without asking his twin’s opinion first.
He cried at their wedding and the asshole made the whole room cry including both Rin and Osamu during his best man speech where he thanked Osamu to be alive and being his twin and thanked Rin to love his twin and be there when Atsumu couldn’t.
As he walked out of the stadium he heard another pair of footsteps. Rin promised himself that if it was the asshole again he would break more than his nose but no. It’s Motoya and for once he’s clearly upset.
“If you didn’t punch him I would have.”
Rin nodded. He’s glad that Kiyoomi and Atsumu were dating. It means more people are there to protect his fragile heart.
Even if Rin and Osamu gave Kiyoomi hell when they started dating but it wasn’t their fault. They were simply worried. It was the first time Atsumu presented someone to them. They had to make sure of his intentions. So yes Rin had “forgot” to buy chicken during their first dinner together so he could drag Atsumu out of the appartement while Osamu threaten Kiyoomi in peace.
Atsumu is an asshole, but it’s their asshole.
And Rin will protect his family even against his own teammates.
“I’m going to the restaurant do you want to come?”
Motoya slightly raised his eyebrows surprised. “I can come?”
“Of course you can. You’re from Kiyoomi’s family. That’s mean you’re Atsumu’s family so you’re my family. But on one condition.”
Motoya smiled. “We don’t tell Atsumu what happened.”
Rin smiled back. “I knew you were smart.”
If Atsumu knew, it would break his heart. Unlike what people thought, Atsumu cared about people’s opinions.
Rin still remembered when one day after winning a game Atsumu waited Osamu was at the opposite of the room to whisper to Rin if it was true his twin didn’t stand him and if he really should be out of his life because some asshole told Atsumu his brother would be happier without him.
Atsumu would gladly disappear from the surface of the earth if it make his twin happy.
It would break his heart and Rin refused too. When they started dating, he vowed to help Osamu beating everyone who spoke bad of Atsumu and Rin will do it.
He will protect his brother.
— — —
Rin and Motoya exited the stadium and spotted a small group wearing Jackals’s vests close to the parking lot. Rin made sure to keep his hand in his hoodie pocket. Atsumu could not know about the altercation and even less about Rin’s bruised knuckles.
Unlike what a lot of people thought, Atsumu wasn’t just all bark and no bite. No.
One time in high school two weeks after Rin and Osamu’s first date, Rin saw Atsumu jumping above a table to beat another student. Later they learned Atsumu fought because the said student insulted them.
At the time Rin scowled at Atsumu saying he shouldn’t fight, as it would both risk his position in the team and worry Osamu. That idiot had rolled his eyes and simply responded that the asshole didn’t just insult his brother but also his friend.
Rin had punched him in the shoulder to keep his face.
When they arrived, Hinata talked to Atsumu and Bokuto about his time in Brazil and was often cut by the two idiots’ questions. Sakusa was silently listening behind him, only watching Atsumu.
Gosh they were disgustingly in love.
Atsumu glanced around and smiled bigger when he saw them. He waved at them and yelled. “Guys!”
Rin winced. “Stop screaming, idiot. We’re not deaf.”
Atsumu smirked. “Ya still can hear even if ya losta 3-0?”
Rin felt a vein pop on his forehead but thankfully Sakusa slapped that idiot's head. Fuck he could kiss him. They finally found someone else to kick that idiot’s ass. Rin knew he could trust Sakusa.
“Don’t be mean. It’s not their fault they lost. They just weren’t strong enough.”
Scratch that, it was official. Rin hated Sakusa Kiyoomi and was going to ask his beautiful awesome husband to poison his food so he could die slowly and painfully.
Motoya frowned. “That was mean cousin.” While Atsumu laughed so hard he had tears at the corner of his eyes.
The rest of the Jackals arrived and they left the stadium to walk toward the restaurant.
Rin watched Atsumu still talking to Bokuto and Hinata. From time to time Meain and Thomas included comments about either what Atsumu did or what Meain said. From what he could hear Atsumu was talking about an incident that happened in a hotel during one of an away games that included an extinctor and young drunk players months before Bokuto arrived.
Rin stayed away from Atsumu. He watched his brother-in-law from afar and he was happy. He was glad that the idiot had found a good team that supported him and even two that followed his antics.
One of Osamu’s biggest fears when Atsumu became pro was seeing his brother alone not liked by his team.
Thankfully Atsumu was adored by the whole team. They treated him like the annoying little brother you can’t be mad at because he’s too cute.
Rin felt a presence behind him.
“Everything is alright?”
“I should be the one asking that.” Sakusa walked at his level. His surgical white mask on his face protects him from the world. “You keep your hands in your pockets.” He glanced at him. “And I’m not the only one who noticed.”
Rin looked back at Atsumu. The blonde, despite talking to his friends, kept glancing at him.
“I’m fine, no need to worry.”
Sakusa nodded but Rin knew he wasn’t convinced. Sakusa was living with Atsumu of course he could detect bullshit a mile away.
They arrived at the restaurant and while the team went to sat at one of the tables, Rin went to the kitchen. He passed between waiters and receptionists pretty easily thanks to his boss’s husband privilege.
Rin gretted every single employee and went straight to his lover. He wraps his arm around Osamu’s waist and kisses his cheek.
Rin makes sure to keep his injured hand hidden in his hoodie pocket. If Atsumu threw a flip if he knew, Osamu would burn Taro’s house in the middle of the night.
And Rin was sure Atsumu would be there with the oil and firecracker.
“Hey you.”
Osamu smiled. “Sorry, I gotta ma hands dirty.” He kissed him chastely. “Sorry for the game.”
Rin shrugged, “I could only lose since my lucky charm wasn’t present.”
Osamu snorted. “Right sorry. I’ll be there next time, promise ya on my ring. Is that idiot a pain in the ass?”
“What do you think?”
“I’m gonna kick his ass.”
Rin chuckled and kissed him again. “I’m gonna join the team before Tsumu breaks something.”
“If he’s an ass, call me.”
“Will do.” Rin winked and left the kitchen after stealing a kiss. He went back to the dining room and walked to the table.
There were only two empty seats left, one in front of Atsumu and one at the opposite of the table close to the kitchen. Rin frowned when he saw Atsumu resting his feet on the chair in front of him.
“Your brother is going to kill you if he sees this.”
“I don’t care about that scrub. I wanted to makka sure ya sat in front of me.”
Rin froze. Shit. If he sat in front of Atsumu, the idiot would see his bruised hand and when the idiot made up his mind there was nothing that could change him. Atsumu would harass him until Rin gave up and tell him what happen. He also knows Atsumu knows he didn’t got injured during a game so Rin didn’t have any excuse yet to give.
“Well thank you but I want to close to the kitchen in case Samu needs a hand.”
Atsumu snorted. “Yeah hard pass, not gonna help that scru. ‘M not gonna work for free unless for free meals.”
Rin sat and wondered if the team knew Atsumu was full of shit. He was his brother’s first employee. At the beginning Atsumu came before and after every practice. He helped to open, prepare the tables and close the restaurant and the dishes. Osamu even offered to pay him but that ass said he prefered free meals.
Atsumu never refused to help his brother. One time he even offered to ditch training to help when Osamu told him his employee was sick. Rin still remember how loud Osamu had yelled that his stupid brother better not ditch the fucking national team’s training or he will bring him back to the gym by his ear.
They started to eat and Osamu personally brought their plates. Everyone talked and joked together and even Atsumu was pleasant. Rin made sure to hide his hand and be careful but he felt two pairs of eyes on him.
He thought he played his game well until he heard “Rintarou can ya come please?”
Oh shit. Rin looked up from his plate and saw his husband smiling and pointing at the kitchen. Samu just said his full name. He was fucked.
Rin smiled back at the table. “Sorry, my hot husband need me.” making the table laugh while of course the blond idiot made vomit noises and complained to his own boyfriend but Rin didn’t care.
“Ya better not do anything weird in the kitchen or ‘m calling the authorities!”
Rin rolled his eyes and followed Osamu to the kitchen. Once they were alone Osamu crossed his arms and rested his hips against the wooden table.
“When were ya going to tell him ya hurt yer hand?”
Rin pinched his lips into a thin line. “I’m fine.”
“I will be the judge of that. Let me see yer hand.”
Rin sighed and showed his hand to his husband. Osamu quickly took it and frowned. “I need to ice it.”
“It’s-”
“It needs to be taken care of, I completely agree babe.”
Rin sighed again. “How did you see?” Rin had been so careful. Every time Osamu came by their table to drop a new plate and simply walked by, Rin made sure to hide his hand under the table or in his hoodie’s pocket.
Osamu put a bag of ice on his hands and massaged it softly with a creme. “Tsumu. He sent me a text sayin’ yer hand looked weird. What happened?”
That fucking stupid blond. Rin was going to strangle him.
“I punched someone.”
Osamu frowned. “I didn’t see Tsumu with a black eye.”
“I didn’t punch Tsumu. I punched Taro.”
“The asshole guy? What did he say? I need to punch him too?”
“He said some bullshit about Tsumu and I got mad.”
“Oh.”
They stayed in silence for a minute or two and Rin wondered what his beautiful husband was thinking about. His husband’s hands were so soft and delicate. He had some calluses thanks to volleyball and making onigiri all day but Rin loved them. Osamu’s hands were his treasure and Rin will always cherish it. Then Osamu talked again.
“Ya have training on Monday right?”
“You want to punch him too?”
“He insulted ma brother and because of him ma husband’s hand was hurt.”
Rin snorted. “It will serve him right.”
“Ya should tell Tsumu. He was worried.”
“I didn't want to upset him.”
“He will be upset but he will be glad someone got his back.” quickly replied Osamu.
Rin shrugged. “He’s my family. I protect my family.”
Osamu smiled. “And that’s why I love you.”
They kissed and Osamu wrapped his arms around his husband’s torso. Rin melted in his embrace and sighed in contentment when Osamu started to leave kisses on his neck.
“I really needed to talk to Atsumu right?”
Osamu hummed and kissed his temple. “Ya will survive it.”
“I’m warning you, if he cries I leave the restaurant.”
Osamu chuckled and Rin buried his face in the crook of his neck. Maybe if he builded a good excuse or coughed he could avoid the conversation.
— — —
When Rin comes back to the dining room his hand is bandaged and Bokuto talks about Akaashi his perfect husband and Rin can’t blame him.
Akaashi is perfect.
And yes even if Akaashi and Bokuto married five years ago, Rin will still call him Akaashi because Bokuto’s face is too funny when Rin calls his husband by his maiden name.
Rin sat and he’s thankful no one mentioned his red bandaged swallowed hand. Only Sakusa and Atsumu glance at his hand and then at his face so Rin knows he will not avoid the conversation.
“Please Bo I need the recipe.” pleaded Meain.
Bokuto shook his head. “Sorry Cap, it’s a family recipe, Keiji doesn’t even let me know where he hides it.”
“Bo you don’t understand Haruka loves Keiji’s crepe she harasses me every day to ask you about the recipe. My wife told me not to come back home without it. Bo. Even my own daughter asks me about that crepe.”
Two months ago, Bokuto and Akaashi hosted a barbecue at their house to celebrate their twins’ first birthday. They had invited the whole Jackals team and family, the Fukurodani’s previous team, their friends and family. Akaashi had made crepes and now everyone was harassing the poor couple to get the recipe. Until now Akaashi refused to give it.
There was rumors about Kuroo trying to bribe Bokuto to steal the recipe and even Kenma said he could buy them a new bigger house.
A house. A whole house in exchange for a crepe recipe.
Rin adored the crepe too. He and Osamu even stole a couple of crepes to bring home to try to find the ingredients without any success.
Atsumu that asshole even tried to use Ryo and Haru, the Bokuto twins to get the recipe. Akaashi looked at him with so much deception in his blue eyes Atsumu even bowed to apologize.
Maybe Osamu can have the recipe in exchange of opening a shop in Tokyo and free onigiri.
Rin knew Akaashi’s love for onigiri would serve him in more than one way. He already has a lot of new embarrassing pictures and stories about Atsumu and Sakusa which made Rin really happy.
His favorite new picture was Atsumu sleeping on the bus against the window and drooling. To this day, it’s Rin’s second-most-liked picture on Instagram. The first one is from his wedding.
Dinner slowly ended and one by one every player started leaving. Meain made Atsumu and Bokuto promise to sleep early while Tomas tried to pay for the twenty-fifth time but Osamu refused. Every Jackals had free meals to reward them for dealing with Atsumu. Barnes said goodbyes telling the rest of the teams to be ready for Monday’s training. Since they were facing the Adlers the following week, their coach would be ruthless. Even Hinata and Bokuto both of them wanting to find their boyfriend or husband. Hinata had begged Kageyama to join them but the setter had refused saying the last time he ate at Atsumu’s table the blond idiot succeeded in taking a horrible photo of him and posted it on his Instagram. They left leaving Rin alone with Atsumu and Sakusa.
Rin wondered if talking about his honeymoon night could save him from this situation.
Then before Rin could describe the best night of his life and traumatize his dear beloved brother-in-law, Atsumu stood up and rested his hand on Kiyoomi’s shoulder.
“Gonna see ma scrub of a brother if he needs help.”
Sakusa kissed Atsumu’s wrist and nodded. Atsumu left Rin and Sakusa alone together. It seemed the blond idiot had a plan.
Divide to better conquert.
Sakusa finished his plate and Rin looked around the shop. The decoration was minimalist and simple. Osamu had hung their friends’s jerseys from either their club or national team. Rin found it cute that his and Atsumu’s jerseys were closer to the kitchen separated from the others. Pictures of pro athletes were everywhere too. The only missing jersey was Sakusa. Rin knew Osamu had bought online Sakusa’s national team jersey and wondered when Osamu will hang it next to theirs. Before or after the Olympics. Rin heard Atsumu had a plan forthe proposal but he knew from Motoya, his cousin also had a plan for a proposal. Rin wondered if the two idiots had the same plan in mind and wanted to propose at the Olympics in Paris, the city of love.
Sakusa cleared his throat making Rin look at him. “Is your hand alright?”
Rin looked back at his bandaged hand. Osamu had wrapped it with care and even kissed his knuckles. His husband was perfect.
“It’s fine don’t worry.”
Sakusa slightly frowned. “I didn’t see you getting hurt during the game so I assume to got hurt after it.”
Rin nodded. “I did but don’t worry, the situation is handled.”
Sakusa frowned deeper and Rin didn’t understand how Atsumu could find his angry face cute. Sakusa was terrifying.
“Do you remember our first national game?” Sakusa continued when Rin nodded. “It was against the British team. One of the players made fun of me and called me weird for disinfecting my hands after touching a handle. Atsumu was with Bokuto taking care of Hinata. Beside them, I barely knew anyone on the team and thought I was alone. I’m used to people calling me weird and insulting me. But I saw you getting mad and insulting him. After that, I asked you why you defended me and do you remembered what you said?”
Rin remembered it like yesterday. Atsumu and Sakusa just started dating before that away game and Rin thought they would be all over each other but they were professional and kept their hands on themselves. Everything went well until they got to the hotel. Now Rin refuses to be close to their room. Fuck Atsumu was way too loud for Rin’s sanity.
When Hinata hadn’t felt well Atsumu glanced at Rin asking him to make sure Sakusa couldn’t get lost or end up in trouble.
Rin nodded again “I said that since you’re dating the blond idiot then we’re family. And even if you weren't dating him, we're friends. And I protect my friends and my family.”
Sakusa nodded. “I grew up as a younger sibling but I wasn’t close to them. They were older and already left our house when I entered elementary school. Even now, I don’t talk to them. But if there is one thing Atsu taught me is we take care of our brother. Even if we don’t share the same blood. If someone hurts you then I need to know.”
Rin smiled. It’s been a year and a half since Sakusa and Atsumu started dating and it was the first time he mentioned his older siblings. The only thing he knew was from Atsumu and that they were assholes but maybe Atsumu was biased. Rin wondered if he would meet them at the wedding. What Rin was sure of was that Kiyoomi would definitly take the Miya name. Miya Kiyoomi, yeah Rin liked it.
“It’s me who technically hurt someone. They talked bad about Atsumu and I got angry.”
“Oh.”
Rin knew Sakusa had contact that could destroy or make a career bloom. Taro was a bench warmer and now Rin wondered if he will still be able to enter in the gym on Monday.
“Who?”
“Taro.”
Sakusa pinched his lips and wrinkled his nose. “The asshole who said Motoya shouldn’t be a starter and Bokuto and Hinata were idiots?”
Rin frowned. “How do you know that?”
Sakusa shrugged. “You talked to Osamu, Osamu talked to Atsu and Atsu talked to me.”
Rin snorted. “I should know when I tell Samu something then you and Atsumu automatically know it too.”
Sakusa narrowed his eyes. “I know it’s the same for you.”
Rin smirked. “Yeah. I know about the hot sauce accident.”
Sakusa sighed and at the same time, Atsumu came back into the dining room. “Samu want to talk to ya about next Saturday’s family meal. He wants to see with ya who is bringing what for Ma and Grandma.”
Sakusa nodded and stood up to go in the kitchen and Atsumu stoled a kiss making Sakusa smack the back of his head. Both Rin and Atsumu chuckled as Atsumu sat in front of Rin.
Atsumu serves them two glasses of sake making Rin frown. “Your brother knows you just stole a bottle?”
“Nope.”
They started to drink in silence and Atsumu pointed at his hand. “What happen?”
Rin smirked. “Aw are you worrying about me?”
“Of course I do, if somethin’ happen to ya my dumb brother won’t survive it.”
“I punched someone.”
“How is the other guy?”
“Broken nose.”
Atsumu hummed. “Taro?”
Rin frowned. “Samu told you?”
“Nah but ya kept sayin’ ya wanted to punch him so I guessed.”
Rin smirked as he replied. “Guessed right for once.”
Atsumu snorted. “What did he do?”
Rin put his glass back on the table and looked into Atsumu’s eyes. “He insulted my brother.”
Rin can see it took Atsumu a minute to understand. He sees confusion, realization, and finally resignation flashing in the maroon’s eyes.
“Ya didn’t have to do that. Now yer injured and probably not playin’ the next game.”
Rin shrugged. “We have each other’s back.”
“I don’t care what people say about me.”
“We both know that’s not true.”
Rin remembers Atsumu calling him at three in the morning after Osamu told him he didn’t want to be a pro and asking in tears if he still had a purpose of playing volleyball without his brother. Rin remembers Atsumu asking him with a small broken voice if he was making the right decision after their Ma yelled at him for not continuing his studies and going pro right after high school. Rin remembers hearing Atsumu’s cries when after his first fight with Sakusa he asked him if people were right about him not deserving Sakusa and not being good enough for him.
Rin remembers every single day Atsumu spent lying in his bed hiding from the world after the hashtag #MiyaleavetheJackals was on world trending for two days on Twitter after he signed into the club. Rin remembers Atsumu spending his evening reading every single comment about him after his first games making him miserable until Osamu got enough and simply broke his phone by throwing it against a wall.
Atsumu cares and maybe cares too much for his poor heart.
Rin crossed his arms. “Taro said dumb things that weren’t true. He made me mad and I punched him.”
“I just say ya could have ignored it.”
“Atsumu.” Rin frowned. “I’m not going to ignore someone who bullshit about my brother. I care about you. We all do.”
Atsumu softly smiled and looked away. “We care about ya too dumbass.”
“Asshole.”
“Oh so people can’t insult me but ya can?”
“Exactly. I knew bleach didn’t eliminate all your brain cells.”
Atsumu snorted and replied. “Omi says it’s a matter of time.” making them burst into laughter.
When Osamu and Sakusa arrive in the dining room Atsumu and Rin are still laughing. Osamu raised an eyebrow. “Did we lose them?”
Sakusa sighed. “I think so. Too bad, then I guess we will keep Ma’s katsudon recipe for ourselves. Such a shame.”
Atsumu wiped a tear from the corner of his eyes and whined. “That’s family’s recipe.”
Sakusa replied with a smile. “Ma already said Rin and I were her favorite children.”
Osamu titled his head. “I still don’t know if it’s right or not.”
Rin winked at his husband. “It is my darling.”
The four of them spent the rest of the evening together and helped Osamu closing the restaurant. Once they went home Osamu went directly to the bathroom. “Going to the shower” he glanced back at Rin, “I left the door unlocked if ya want” and winked.
Rin chuckled and wondered what he did in a past life to deserve Osamu. Save the world maybe? He hung his coat and heard his ringtone. He checked his phone and saw a text from Sakusa.
“Thank you for protecting Atsu.”
Rin smiled and tapped a quick reply. A part of him was excited to be on Monday and see Taro again. He wondered if his nose would be okay and if not. Rin still could break it again. But now Rin forgot about Taro and only thought of his hot naked husband waiting for him in the shower.
Monday arrived fast and when Rin frowned when he heard Osamu’s alarm. He checked his own phone and it was an hour early then usual. Osamu kissed his temple. “Go back ta sleep babe. See ya later.”
Rin buried his face in the blanket and fell back asleep as he heard the front door slam. When his own alarm rang Rin grumbled. He hated Monday and even more when he didn’t cuddled his husband. Rin got up and went to the kitchen. Osamu had already prepared everything leaving Rin the simple task to eat and do the dish.
Once he was done, Rin left their precious home and took the bus to the gym. Thirty minutes later he arrived at the gym and, Rin saw Taro talking with the coach. Motoya meets him at the locker room’s door with a smile.
“Did you hear?”
Rin shook his head. “No what?”
“Taro is leaving the club. He made his resignation but even if he didn’t the JVA got involved and they took his license.”
Rin nodded and when Taro glanced at him, Rin saw he had a black eye.
Well. He couldn’t say the idiot didn’t deserve it. And now Rin had better things to do. For example, find the perfect flowers for Ma and get Akaashi’s crepe recipe. And kiss Osamu.
— — —
After training, Rin directly went to Miya Onigiri. He greeted the employees and went into the kitchen to see his beautiful husband. Osamu was preparing onigiri and Rin hugged him from behind and left a kiss on his neck.
“I missed you.”
“Missed ya too. How was training?”
“Good.” Rin kissed Osamu’s cheek. He glanced at his hands and saw Osamu’s right hand with bruised knuckles. “I saw Taro. He left the club.”
“Really?” Osamu arched an eyebrow. “That’s surprisin’.”
Rin nodded and rested his head on Osamu’s shoulder. “He had a black eye too.”
“Oh. Damn. I wonder whatta happen to him.”
“Me too.”
For a minute neither of them spoke until they both started laughing. Rin buried his face in the crook of Osamu’s neck. “Did he cry?”
Osamu nodded and wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes. Rin always finds it funny that Osamu and Atsumu don’t have the same laugh. They were twins and yet Osamu laughed like their mother with snorts and chuckles while Atsumu laughed with his whole body and more than once Rin got worried he wasn’t able to breathe because of his laughter. One evening, Samu told Rin Atsumu laughed just like their late dad.
“He cried and begged me not ta hurt him. I still punched him of course.”
“Did he give his resignation because of you too?”
Osamu shook his head. “Nah. I simply said I he made ya mad again or insulted Tsumu again no one will find him. ‘M pretty sure Kita-san would help me to bury him.”
Rin nodded. Kita-san could be scary when he wanted and Aran would definitely help his husband to protect the twins. “Then I wonder who got the JVA involved. Unless someone told Kuroo.”
For a minute neither of them spoke until they both nodded and said at the same time. “Sakusa.”
Osamu went back to cooking and Rin sat next to him. He didn’t know what Sakusa said to Kuroo but he didn’t cared, he was glad Taro had left and most importantly more people protected Atsumu’s heart.
