Work Text:

Months had passed since their wedding, and Riku and Daeyoung had settled comfortably into married life. While the tabloids had initially stirred up a frenzy over the arranged nature of their marriage, the general public quickly lost interest. Riku was cherished as an athlete, and Daeyoung’s quiet charisma won over anyone who met him. The attention occasionally turned inconvenient, especially during trips into the city, where they were frequently recognized. But in their serene new home, they found the peace they craved.

Initially, Riku and Daeyoung had planned to live in a spacious condo in a neighborhood outside of the city. It was modern, convenient, and perfect for two people navigating a new life together. But their parents had other ideas.

Shortly after the wedding, during what was supposed to be a casual family gathering, their parents surprised them with an entirely different arrangement.

“We decided the condo isn’t enough,” Riku’s mother had said with a smile as she handed over a set of keys.

Riku blinked, confused. “What do you mean, isn’t enough? It’s plenty for us.”

Daeyoung’s father grinned knowingly. “It’s nice, but it’s not the space you’ll need for... the future.”

“The future?” Daeyoung asked, tilting his head.

Riku’s grandfather chuckled. “You’ll understand when you see it.”

When they arrived at the address their parents had given them, Riku and Daeyoung were stunned to find a beautiful house nestled in a quiet neighborhood. It was a two-story home with a sprawling backyard, complete with a small garden and a patio. Inside, the house was bright and airy, with more than enough space for the two of them—and then some.

“Why would we need this much space?” Riku asked, still in shock.

His mother gave him a pointed look. “For when you add a family member or two.”

Daeyoung’s mother nodded in agreement. “You don’t have to rush, of course, but you’re both in your 20s. Time flies, you know.”

Riku flushed, glancing at Daeyoung, who was smiling politely. “We’ll take our time,” Daeyoung said gently. “We’re still young, and we want to enjoy this stage of our life first.”

Their parents didn’t press further, but the implication was clear. Every so often, during family dinners or phone calls, one of their mothers would drop a subtle hint about grandchildren. Riku would roll his eyes, and Daeyoung would chuckle, but they both knew the questions weren’t going to stop anytime soon.

For now, though, they focused on building their life together. The house quickly became a sanctuary, filled with laughter and warmth. Riku took to the backyard, helping Daeyoung with the garden, while Daeyoung began experimenting with cooking new dishes in their spacious kitchen.

Though their parents had future plans in mind, Riku and Daeyoung were content to let life unfold at its own pace. They had all the time in the world, and for now, their happiness together was more than enough.

One sunny Saturday morning, Riku was out in the garden, trying to help Daeyoung with some planting. He wore a pair of old shorts and a T-shirt, his hair messy and hands covered in soil. Daeyoung was kneeling beside him, wearing a wide-brimmed hat to shield himself from the sun.

"You’re getting dirt everywhere," Daeyoung teased, glancing at the clumps of soil Riku had accidentally scattered on the stone path.

Riku grinned sheepishly. “I’m trying my best, okay? I’m not as graceful as you.”

Daeyoung laughed, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

Riku reached over, smudging some dirt on Daeyoung’s cheek. “And you’re lucky I love you.”

Daeyoung gasped in mock outrage, wiping his cheek and shaking his head. “You’re ridiculous.”

They both burst into laughter, their carefree joy echoing in the quiet of their backyard. Moments like this reminded them of how far they had come—from strangers thrust into an arranged engagement to two people deeply in love, building a life together.

The soft hum of the alarm clock broke the stillness of the room. Riku stirred first, groaning as he reached out to silence it, only to feel Daeyoung’s arm tighten around his waist. He turned his head slightly, glancing over his shoulder to see his husband’s face buried in the pillow, his hair a mess of dark strands scattered across his forehead.

“Five more minutes,” Daeyoung mumbled, his voice thick with sleep.

Riku sighed but made no effort to move, enjoying the warmth radiating from Daeyoung. He blinked at the ceiling, the faint light of dawn spilling through the curtains. “We’ve already said that three times,” he teased softly, his voice breaking the quiet.

Daeyoung hummed noncommittally, still refusing to let go. “Five more won’t hurt.”

Eventually, with a dramatic sigh, Daeyoung rolled onto his back, one arm flopping across the bed. “Fine, you win,” he conceded. He rubbed at his eyes and yawned, stretching lazily. “But I’m claiming the bathroom first.”

Riku turned to look at him, an eyebrow arching skeptically. “You always take forever in there,” he accused, already feeling the spark of playful competition bubbling up.

Daeyoung smirked, turning his head to meet Riku’s gaze. “I can’t help it if I like being clean. You, on the other hand—”

“Oh, shut up,” Riku interrupted, bolting upright and off the bed before Daeyoung could react.

His sudden movement startled Daeyoung, who barely had time to sit up before Riku dashed into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

“Hyung!” Daeyoung groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Unbelievable.” He got up, shuffling toward the door and knocking. “You can’t just run like that!”

Riku’s laughter echoed from behind the door, triumphant and teasing. “Better luck next time!”

Daeyoung shook his head, a grin tugging at his lips despite himself.

By the time Riku emerged, freshly showered and smug, Daeyoung was sprawled on the bed, scrolling through his phone. He stood when he saw Riku, brushing past him into the bathroom.

“Took you long enough,” he muttered, shooting Riku a half-hearted glare before closing the door behind him.

“Enjoy the lukewarm water!” Riku called after him, chuckling as he towel-dried his hair.

Riku was in the kitchen by the time Daeyoung finished, dressed in an oversized hoodie and sweats, humming softly as he poured coffee into two mugs. The smell of fresh toast filled the air, mingling with the scent of coffee. He was setting the table when Daeyoung appeared, his damp hair sticking up in unruly tufts.

“Look at you,” Daeyoung teased, wrapping his arms around Riku’s waist from behind. “So domestic.”

“I had to do something while you were taking your 40-minute shower,” Riku retorted, though he leaned back into the embrace.

Daeyoung chuckled, pressing a quick kiss to Riku’s temple before letting go. “I’m starving.” He swiped a piece of toast off the plate as he sat down, earning a small glare from Riku.

“Get your own!” Riku snapped, swatting Daeyoung’s hand when he reached for a second slice.

“You’re so stingy,” Daeyoung said, pouting theatrically.

Riku rolled his eyes but slid the plate closer to him anyway. They ate together, sipping coffee and talking about their plans for the day. Riku groaned about practice while Daeyoung explained the details of an upcoming performance at work. It was simple, ordinary, but it was theirs.

As the light of the rising sun cast a warm glow over the kitchen, Riku found himself watching Daeyoung. The sight of him, relaxed and smiling as he took a sip of coffee, made Riku’s heart swell with a quiet, overwhelming love.

“I love you,” he said suddenly, his voice soft but steady.

Daeyoung looked up, surprised for only a moment before his lips curved into a gentle smile. “I love you too.”

And with that, they shared a quiet, knowing look, ready to face the day ahead together.

The late afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm, golden glow over the living room. Riku lounged on the couch, lazily flipping through channels on the TV. But his gaze kept drifting back to Daeyoung, who sat beside him, his focus entirely on the piano sheet music spread out before him. Daeyoung’s glasses rested just slightly crooked on the bridge of his nose, his eyes scanning the notes with quiet concentration. Riku found himself captivated, not just by the way Daeyoung looked so effortlessly handsome, but by the way his mind seemed so absorbed in his craft.

Riku couldn’t help himself. He leaned in, his lips pressing against the soft skin of Daeyoung’s jaw, planting a light kiss just beneath his ear. The brief contact sent a shiver down Daeyoung’s spine, and he paused for a split second, the hum of his concentration flickering before he returned to his music.

Riku’s lips brushed against Daeyoung’s jaw again, this time a little firmer, his breath warm against Daeyoung’s skin. He didn’t expect Daeyoung to stop him, but he couldn’t resist teasing. “You’ve been working so hard,” Riku murmured, his voice hushed and laced with affection. “I think it’s time for a break.”

Daeyoung let out a soft laugh but didn’t look up. “I’m fine,” he said, his voice still smooth and calm. “Just need to finish going over these pieces.”

Riku’s grin grew wider as he leaned in closer, his lips brushing the tender skin beneath Daeyoung’s ear. He nipped at the spot gently, pulling a quiet gasp from Daeyoung. “Come on, jagi,” Riku coaxed, a playful edge creeping into his voice. “You can’t resist me forever.”

Daeyoung shifted in his seat, his glasses starting to slip down the bridge of his nose. That was enough for Riku. He pressed another kiss, this time to Daeyoung’s neck, his lips parting as he nibbled gently at the sensitive skin. The taste of Daeyoung’s skin sent a surge of warmth straight to his chest, and he felt his heart race.

“Baby,” Daeyoung murmured, his voice both teasing and slightly breathless, “I thought you were tired from practice.”

Riku didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pressed a slow, lingering kiss to Daeyoung’s lips, tasting the softness there, letting the warmth of his husband’s mouth melt away any lingering tension. The kiss was slow at first, tender, but it deepened quickly, their lips moving in rhythm as if they were both savoring the connection. Daeyoung responded, his hands gently pulling Riku closer, his body turning slightly so their chests pressed together.

When they broke apart for a breath, Riku’s lips were swollen, his heart pounding in his chest. He gazed down at Daeyoung, who looked equally flushed, his glasses now dangerously low on his nose. Without thinking, Riku climbed into Daeyoung’s lap, straddling him as he placed his hands on either side of Daeyoung’s face. Their eyes locked for a moment, the world outside of them fading into the background as their breaths quickened.

Riku cupped Daeyoung’s face, his thumb brushing over his husband’s cheekbone. “I’m never too tired for you,” he whispered, leaning in to kiss him again, this time more urgently, more desperately. His lips captured Daeyoung’s in a kiss that was filled with longing, each movement of their mouths slow and deliberate, as if savoring every second of their closeness.

Daeyoung moaned softly against Riku’s lips, the sound making Riku’s pulse race. But just as Riku was about to deepen the kiss even further, Daeyoung reached for his glasses, about to pull them off. But Riku stopped him with a hand on his wrist, gently tugging it back.

“No, leave them on,” Riku murmured, his voice a little hoarse with desire. “You look extra handsome with them on.”

Daeyoung blinked, a surprised laugh escaping him. “You’re impossible,” he teased, but the smile on his face was pure affection. “You’re always saying that.”

Riku leaned down, pressing a light kiss to Daeyoung’s lips before pulling away just enough to look him in the eyes. “Well, it’s true,” he replied softly, a smile tugging at his lips. “You always look so good to me.”

Daeyoung’s eyes softened, and with that same gentle smile, he leaned in to kiss Riku again, this time more slowly. Their lips met with an intimacy that was comfortable and familiar, but also fresh and new each time. The kiss was deep and sweet, their mouths moving together in perfect harmony, as if they were perfectly attuned to one another.

Riku felt the world around them completely disappear. It was just him and Daeyoung—nothing else mattered in that moment. The soft press of Daeyoung’s lips against his, the warmth of his hands against Riku’s back, the quiet, shared breath between them. It was all so simple, so perfect.

Riku melted into the kiss, his hands moving to Daeyoung’s shoulders, holding him close as if he never wanted to let go. The kiss lingered for a while, both of them savoring the closeness.

When they finally pulled back, both were breathless, their foreheads pressed together as they shared a quiet moment, just enjoying the comfort of each other’s presence.

For Riku, this was everything. The love he had for Daeyoung, the quiet moments, the playful teasing—it was all part of a life he never wanted to imagine without. He kissed Daeyoung’s forehead softly, his heart swelling with affection.

The soft murmur of conversation and the warm glow of candlelight filled the elegant restaurant. Riku adjusted his tie as he leaned back in his chair, savoring the sight of Daeyoung across the table. His husband looked as dashing as ever in a tailored black suit, his hair perfectly styled, and his sharp features illuminated by the flickering candlelight. Riku couldn’t help but feel a wave of gratitude for moments like this—a quiet dinner together, away from the hustle of their daily lives.

Daeyoung glanced up from his glass of wine and smiled. “What are you thinking about? You’ve been staring at me for a while.”

“Just admiring how lucky I am,” Riku replied, reaching across the table to take Daeyoung’s hand in his. Their fingers intertwined naturally, and Riku gave his husband’s hand a gentle squeeze.

Their appetizers had just arrived when Riku’s gaze wandered around the room, idly taking in the other diners. His eyes caught on a familiar figure sitting a few tables away, facing slightly away from them. He tilted his head, squinting to get a better look. A spark of recognition lit up in his eyes.

“Love,” Riku said, tapping Daeyoung’s hand. “Isn’t that Sion over there?”

Daeyoung blinked and turned to follow Riku’s gaze. His brow furrowed in surprise as he recognized his best friend’s broad frame and distinctive posture. “Sion? What’s he doing in Japan?” Daeyoung murmured, clearly puzzled.

Before they could speculate further, another figure entered their view. Riku’s eyes widened as he watched the newcomer approach Sion’s table and pull out the chair across from him. His jaw dropped.

“It’s Yushi!” Riku gasped, his grip tightening on Daeyoung’s hand. “That’s my cousin!”

Daeyoung turned, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. “Wait… what?” His gaze flicked between the two figures now seated together. Yushi, dressed in a sleek blazer, was settling into his chair, looking slightly nervous but smiling shyly as Sion handed him a menu.

Riku leaned closer to Daeyoung, his voice lowered but brimming with excitement. “We introduced them at our wedding! Remember? They barely spoke to each other then.”

Daeyoung nodded slowly, his lips curling into a knowing smile. “Looks like they hit it off after all,” he said, watching as Sion leaned forward with his trademark grin, clearly charming Yushi.

“I didn’t think Sion would move so fast, though. He’s usually all talk when it comes to dating.”

“And Yushi didn’t say anything to me about this,” Riku added, his tone incredulous. “Do you think they’ve been seeing each other since the wedding?”

Daeyoung shrugged, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “Looks like it. And from the way they’re looking at each other, I’d say it’s going pretty well.”

Riku couldn’t tear his eyes away, watching as Yushi laughed softly at something Sion said, his cheeks tinged pink. It was a side of his cousin he hadn’t seen in a while—genuinely flustered and happy.

“This is wild,” Riku whispered, finally turning back to Daeyoung. “What are the odds of us running into them here?”

“Pretty slim,” Daeyoung replied, his tone warm. “But let’s not interrupt. It looks like this is something special for them.”

Riku nodded reluctantly, though his curiosity burned brightly. “You’re right,” he said, sitting back in his chair. “But I am definitely going to grill Yushi about this later. And you’d better text Sion tonight.”

Daeyoung laughed softly. “I will, I promise.”

As their romantic dinner continued, Riku found himself stealing occasional glances at the other table, feeling a mix of curiosity and joy. Seeing two people they cared about seemingly connecting filled him with a quiet satisfaction. And as Daeyoung poured them each another glass of wine, Riku leaned back, soaking in the moment. Life was full of surprises, and this one felt particularly sweet.

The soft afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows of their living room as Riku entered, a garment bag slung over his shoulder. Daeyoung was seated on the couch, reading through sheet music, his glasses perched on his nose. He looked up at the sound of the zipper as Riku opened the bag, his lips curling into a fond smile.

“You’ve got something to show me?” Daeyoung asked, setting the papers aside.

Riku grinned, pulling the uniform from the bag with a dramatic flourish. “Ta-da! It’s the new uniform for next season. Isn’t it sleek?” He held it up proudly, the fabric catching the light. The uniform featured clean lines and a bold design, with their team’s emblem embroidered on the chest.

Daeyoung set his glasses on the coffee table and stood, walking over to get a closer look. “It’s cute,” he said with an approving nod, his eyes scanning the details. “I like the colors. It looks sharp on you, I’m sure.”

Riku laughed and spun the jersey around to show the back. “Wait until you see this.”

Daeyoung’s gaze landed on the number stitched in bold white against the fabric. His brows furrowed slightly. “21? I thought your number was 3. Did they assign you a new one?”

“Nope,” Riku said, his grin widening as he pulled the jersey over his head, adjusting it until it sat perfectly. He turned to give Daeyoung the full view, clearly pleased with himself.

Daeyoung tilted his head, curious. “You changed it on purpose? Why 21?”

Riku’s cheeks flushed faintly, and he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly bashful. “Well… your birthday is June 21. So, I thought I’d make it my number. It’s my favorite number now.”

Daeyoung blinked, momentarily stunned by the simple yet heartfelt explanation. His heart swelled, and a smile slowly spread across his face. “Riku…” he said softly, stepping closer.

“What?” Riku asked, feigning nonchalance but unable to hide the slight embarrassment in his tone.

Daeyoung leaned in, resting his hands on Riku’s shoulders. “That’s adorable,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to Riku’s forehead. “You’re adorable.”

“Stop,” Riku muttered, but the pleased smile on his face betrayed his words. He wrapped his arms loosely around Daeyoung’s waist. “It’s not a big deal. I just wanted to carry a little part of you with me when I play.”

Daeyoung laughed, his voice warm and rich. “Not a big deal, huh? Well, it’s a big deal to me.” He cupped Riku’s face, tilting it up so their eyes met. “You keep finding new ways to make me fall for you.”

Riku’s blush deepened, but he leaned into the touch, his gaze soft. “Well, you’re stuck with me now, so get used to it.”

Daeyoung kissed him, slow and sweet, the kind of kiss that made time feel like it stood still.

When they pulled apart, he glanced down at the jersey again, running his fingers over the number. “It’s perfect,” he said with a quiet sincerity that made Riku’s chest feel warm.

“Yeah?” Riku asked, his voice just above a whisper.

“Yeah,” Daeyoung replied, pulling him into another hug. “Just like you.”

The evening air was cool, but the water of the onsen was warm, wrapping around Riku and Daeyoung in a comforting embrace. Riku had been looking forward to this little getaway for weeks, a chance to spend time with Daeyoung away from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives. The private onsen was the perfect place to relax and reconnect, and the thought of being alone together, surrounded by nature and tranquility, made Riku feel giddy.

As they stepped out onto the stone path leading to the onsen, the soft glow of lanterns illuminated their surroundings, the quiet sounds of nature filling the air. Riku could feel the heat of the water already, and his excitement grew, especially knowing how much Daeyoung enjoyed this peaceful escape.

Daeyoung had been calm and collected as always, but Riku couldn't help but tease him a little. “I’m going to make you relax,” he said with a playful grin, nudging his husband gently as they approached the water.

“You don’t have to tell me that,” Daeyoung replied with a soft smile, his eyes already gleaming with a hint of mischief.

They had reached the onsen now, the water clear and steaming, beckoning them in. It was a private, secluded spot, just for the two of them. There was a small wooden bench near the water, where they could remove their yukata and slip into the warm embrace of the natural hot spring.

Riku, ever the playful one, couldn’t help but steal a glance at Daeyoung as he slipped off his yukata, revealing his toned body underneath. Daeyoung’s gaze flickered over to Riku, a small, knowing smile playing at the corners of his mouth as he gracefully undid the tie of his own yukata.

“Don't think you can get away with anything while we're here,” Daeyoung warned, his voice soft but teasing.

Riku raised an eyebrow, smirking. “I’m just here to have some fun,” he said, slipping off his yukata and stepping closer to the water. He couldn’t help but admire Daeyoung, standing tall and confident, his body glowing in the dim light of the onsen. He was so effortlessly handsome, and it made Riku's heart flutter with affection.

After a few moments, Daeyoung joined him, and they both stepped into the steaming water, the warmth immediately soothing their tired muscles. Riku closed his eyes for a moment, taking in the peaceful surroundings and the way the water enveloped them. The night was quiet, save for the gentle sound of the water and the soft rustling of the leaves in the trees.

Riku let out a contented sigh as he turned to Daeyoung, his fingers grazing against his husband’s arm. “This is perfect,” he murmured.

Daeyoung smiled at him, his eyes soft and affectionate. “I’m glad you’re happy.”

Riku’s eyes flicked down to Daeyoung’s lips, and before he could even think about it, he was leaning in, pressing his mouth gently against Daeyoung's. The kiss was slow at first, the soft taste of Daeyoung's lips sending a wave of warmth through Riku’s chest.

Daeyoung responded immediately, his hands moving to cradle Riku's face as the kiss deepened. Riku melted into him, his heart racing as Daeyoung's fingers brushed through his hair. The feeling of Daeyoung’s lips against his, their bodies pressed so close together, was intoxicating. Everything else faded away—there was only the two of them in the quiet, warm water, lost in each other.

Riku broke the kiss for a moment, both of them breathing heavily, their faces close. He grinned, eyes glinting with a mix of affection and mischief. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, his hands trailing down Daeyoung’s neck and shoulders, memorizing the feeling of his skin.

Daeyoung chuckled softly, his lips brushing against Riku's ear. “You’re one to talk,” he replied, his fingers moving to Riku's back, tracing the contours of his muscles.

Riku couldn’t stop himself. He shifted on his knees and climbed into Daeyoung’s lap, straddling him gently as they sank deeper into the water. His hands cupped Daeyoung’s face, bringing him into another kiss, this time more urgent, more filled with longing. The sensation of Daeyoung’s warm body beneath him made Riku feel like he was melting, like everything in the world was right.

As the kiss deepened, Riku’s hands roamed, running down Daeyoung's chest, the water caressing their skin as their bodies shifted together. Daeyoung’s grip tightened on his waist, pulling him closer, the heat between them intensifying. Riku gasped against Daeyoung's lips as their hips brushed, the feeling sending a spark of desire through him.

“I thought I told you to keep your hands to yourself,” Daeyoung murmured, breaking the kiss to breathe in deeply, his chest rising and falling beneath Riku.

Riku chuckled, his lips trailing down Daeyoung’s jaw and along his neck. “I’m sorry, but I can’t help it,” he whispered, his breath hot against Daeyoung’s skin. “You drive me crazy.”

Daeyoung laughed softly, his fingers threading through Riku’s hair as he tilted his head back, offering Riku more access. “We drive each other crazy, in a good way,” he teased, but there was a warmth in his voice that made Riku’s heart flutter.

Riku smiled against his neck, planting gentle kisses along the sensitive skin there. “Maybe,” he said softly, “but I’ll never stop wanting you.”

The kiss they shared next was soft, gentle, but laced with an undeniable intensity. As they held each other close, surrounded by the soothing warmth of the onsen, everything felt perfect.

Riku stayed in Daeyoung's lap, his body pressed close as their lips continued to meet in soft, lingering kisses. The water swirled around them, ripples of warmth washing over their skin as they held each other tightly, savoring the intimacy of the moment. Daeyoung's hands moved slowly, tracing the outline of Riku's back, sending shivers of pleasure through him.

Riku pulled back just slightly, his forehead resting against Daeyoung's, both of them breathing heavily. He could feel Daeyoung’s heart beating beneath his palms, the rhythmic thrum matching his own. Their faces were inches apart, lips tingling from the kisses that still lingered between them. He felt so safe here, in Daeyoung's arms, and he couldn't help but smile, his heart full of warmth.

"You’re perfect," Riku whispered, his fingers lightly grazing Daeyoung's collarbone. "I can’t believe how lucky I am to be here with you, like this."

Daeyoung smiled softly, his eyes warm and full of affection. He ran his fingers through Riku's damp hair, gently pulling him back into a kiss. It was slow at first, as if they were savoring the moment, and then deepened, becoming more passionate, more filled with the desire they'd been holding back. Daeyoung’s hands gripped the sides of Riku’s waist, and Riku let out a soft gasp, his body instinctively pressing closer.

As their kiss continued, Riku felt the soft pressure of Daeyoung’s hands along his spine, tracing every curve of his body, making his breath hitch. The sensation of Daeyoung’s lips trailing down his neck sent jolts of heat through him. His hands moved to Daeyoung’s chest, fingers brushing over his smooth skin, heart racing with the electricity between them.

Riku’s body was alive with the feeling of Daeyoung's touch, and he couldn’t hold back his need to get closer, to feel more of him. He slid his legs over Daeyoung’s, straddling him more fully, their bodies flush against each other. He could feel the heat of Daeyoung’s body beneath him, the water swirling around them both as he shifted.

Daeyoung let out a soft sigh, his hands sliding down Riku's back, fingers gently squeezing his waist. Riku’s own hands wandered lower, resting on Daeyoung’s hips as he moved against him, their lips never parting for too long.

"Riku," Daeyoung murmured between kisses, his voice a mix of affection and something more urgent.

He felt Daeyoung's arms tighten around him as they kissed once more, the connection between them deepening with every touch, every movement. Time seemed to slow as they shared this quiet intimacy, the world outside of the onsen fading away until it was just the two of them, wrapped in each other’s warmth.

Finally, after what felt like hours but could have been only minutes, Riku broke the kiss, his chest rising and falling with the weight of their breath. He leaned back slightly, his hands resting on Daeyoung's shoulders as he smiled at him, eyes shining with happiness.

“Can we have an onset at home? So that I can do this every day with you” Riku said softly, gazing into Daeyoung's eyes.

Daeyoung chuckled softly, a quiet, contented sound. “Probably not, love. We can come here more often though.” he replied, his voice warm with affection. His hands moved to Riku's waist again, gently guiding him to sit more comfortably on his lap, both of them leaning into the calm and quiet of the onsen.

They sat there for a while, content in the silence, just holding each other close as the water continued to bubble around them. The soft sounds of nature outside, the distant rustle of the trees, and the warmth of the water surrounding them were the perfect backdrop for their private moment. Riku couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of peace, knowing that he was with the person he loved most in the world.

In that quiet space, with Daeyoung’s arms around him and his heart full of love, Riku realized that moments like this, simple and intimate, were the ones that mattered the most. They didn’t need anything more than this: each other, the warmth of the onsen, and the shared understanding that they would always be there for one another.

Riku closed his eyes, resting his head against Daeyoung’s shoulder, a contented sigh escaping his lips. “I’m glad we did this,” he murmured.

Daeyoung pressed a soft kiss to the top of Riku’s head. “Me too,” he replied softly. “We deserve moments like this. Together.”

Riku smiled, feeling completely at home in Daeyoung’s arms. "Always together," he whispered back, the warmth of the water and the love between them enveloping him like a gentle embrace.

Riku lounged on the couch, his body stretched lazily across the cushions as he scrolled mindlessly through his phone. Practice had been grueling that day, and his muscles ached in a way that made resting feel especially satisfying. He glanced at the clock on the wall, noting the time. Daeyoung would be home soon, finishing up another long day at the symphony hall. The thought brought a smile to Riku’s face.

As he continued to scroll, a colorful ad popped up on his feed. "Adopt Your New Best Friend!" the banner read, accompanied by photos of animals at the local shelter. Intrigued, Riku tapped the link and began browsing through the pictures. Cats, rabbits, and dogs stared back at him, each one with a short description about their background.

His thumb paused mid-swipe when he came across a picture of a sesame-colored shiba inu with bright, curious eyes and a fluffy curled tail. The caption beneath the photo read:

"Meet Jelly! A two-year-old shiba inu looking for a forever home. Jelly's previous owner had to move and couldn't take her along. She's sweet, energetic, and loves people. Come meet her at the adoption event this weekend!"

Riku felt his heart skip a beat. He stared at the dog, her slightly tilted head giving her a playful yet gentle look. She was perfect—adorable and full of personality, even through the screen.

"Jelly," Riku murmured, his voice barely above a whisper as he read the name again. He didn’t even realize he was smiling.

"Jelly?" a familiar voice chimed in behind him, startling him out of his thoughts. Riku whipped his head around to see Daeyoung standing there, his coat still draped over one arm and a curious expression on his face.

"Oh?" Daeyoung continued, leaning casually over the back of the couch. "Isn’t that the local shelter? What are you looking at?"

Riku turned his phone toward Daeyoung, showing him the picture of the shiba inu. "Look," he said, his voice almost pleading. "Her name’s Jelly. Isn’t she adorable?"

Daeyoung glanced at the screen, a small smile tugging at his lips. "She’s cute," he admitted, his warm gaze shifting from the phone to Riku. "You’ve already fallen in love with her, haven’t you?"

Riku pouted dramatically, pressing his lips together. "Maybe…" he muttered. Then he glanced up at Daeyoung, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Wouldn’t she look great here with us? I mean, just look at her! How could anyone say no to that face?"

Daeyoung chuckled softly, leaning over further until his face was just above Riku’s. "You’re pretty convincing," he said. His voice was teasing, but there was a warmth in his eyes that made Riku’s heart flutter. Daeyoung leaned in and kissed him, soft and slow, their lips fitting together perfectly.

When Daeyoung pulled back, Riku was still grinning. "So… does that mean we can at least go see her? The adoption event is this weekend."

Daeyoung straightened up, setting his coat over the back of a nearby chair. "I guess we could go," he said, his tone nonchalant, but the small smile on his lips betrayed him.

"Yes!" Riku exclaimed, sitting up and throwing his arms around Daeyoung’s waist, nearly pulling him off balance. "You won’t regret it. Jelly’s going to love us."

Daeyoung laughed, his hands resting on Riku's shoulders. "Just remember, adopting a dog isn’t like bringing home a souvenir. It’s a big responsibility."

Riku nodded eagerly, his excitement bubbling over. "I know, I know. But I just have this feeling. She’s meant to be part of our family, Daeyoung."

Daeyoung smiled, leaning down to kiss Riku again, this time lingering a little longer. "Then let’s meet her," he said softly, his forehead resting against Riku’s. "But if she ends up liking me more, don’t get jealous."

Riku scoffed, playfully swatting Daeyoung’s arm. "Not a chance. Jelly and I are already connected—she just doesn’t know it yet."

They both laughed, and as Riku pulled up the details of the adoption event, he couldn’t shake the feeling that their home was about to get a little fuller—and a lot more joyful.

Days later, Daeyoung and Riku decide to visit the shelter to find Jelly.

The shelter was buzzing with activity when Riku and Daeyoung arrived. Families, couples, and individuals filled the space, walking between rows of crates and kennels, each one housing animals waiting for their forever homes. The hum of voices mixed with the occasional bark or meow created a chaotic scene that felt overwhelming to Riku as he scanned the area.

“Where is she?” Riku muttered, tugging Daeyoung gently by the sleeve as they made their way down the rows. His eyes darted from one crate to another, his excitement and nervousness growing with each step.

Daeyoung, ever calm, followed behind him, his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat. “Riku, relax. We’ll find her. Just take a breath.”

Riku barely heard him. He was too focused. Then, all the way at the end of the row, his search stopped. In the last crate, nestled into a fluffy blanket, was Jelly. The sesame-colored shiba inu was curled up, her eyes shut tight as she slept peacefully despite the noisy surroundings.

“There she is,” Riku whispered, his voice tinged with awe. He crouched down, peering into the crate. “She’s so calm. If she can sleep through all this, she’ll be fine when you’re practicing at home,” he said, nudging Daeyoung with his elbow and grinning.

Daeyoung chuckled softly, kneeling beside him. “Is that your way of convincing me she’s perfect for us?” he teased, though his gaze softened as he looked at Jelly.

Riku ignored the remark, his attention fully on the sleeping dog. As if sensing their presence, Jelly’s ears twitched, and her eyes slowly opened. She blinked groggily before lifting her head, her gaze locking directly onto Riku’s.

Riku felt his heart skip a beat. “She’s awake,” he said, glancing at Daeyoung like it was the most extraordinary thing.

Daeyoung leaned closer, his face just inches from the crate. Jelly yawned, her tiny mouth stretching wide, before she stretched her body, arching her back and wagging her fluffy tail. She padded to the front of the crate, sitting calmly by the door. Then, with a tilt of her head, she let out a soft, high-pitched bark.

Riku gasped, his hands flying to his mouth. “Oh my god, she chose us,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper but filled with excitement.

Daeyoung raised an eyebrow, his lips quirking into a smile. “She chose us?”

“Yes!” Riku said, his tone adamant. “Did you hear that bark? She’s basically saying, ‘Take me home!’”

Daeyoung chuckled, reaching out to rest a hand on Riku’s shoulder. “I think you’re projecting a bit, but…” He glanced back at Jelly, who wagged her tail again and tilted her head at him this time. “I can’t argue with that face.”

Jelly placed her paw against the door, her eyes expectant and full of trust. Riku turned to Daeyoung, his expression pleading but also brimming with joy.

“She’s perfect,” Riku said softly, his voice full of conviction.

Daeyoung didn’t need convincing. “Let’s do it,” he said, standing up and signaling a nearby shelter worker.

Riku grinned, his excitement barely contained. He leaned down toward the crate again, speaking softly to Jelly. “You’re coming home with us, little one. Just wait a bit longer.”

As the shelter worker arrived with papers and a leash, Jelly gave another small bark, as if in agreement. It didn’t take long for the formalities to be completed. Once the crate was opened, Jelly stepped out cautiously, sniffing at Riku’s extended hand before licking it.

“She’s already warming up to you,” Daeyoung said, smiling as he watched Riku interact with her.

“She’s going to love us,” Riku said confidently, stroking Jelly’s soft fur. “And we’re going to spoil her.”

Daeyoung crouched down beside them, reaching out to scratch Jelly behind the ears. She wagged her tail enthusiastically, earning a chuckle from him. “Welcome to the family, Jelly.”

As they left the shelter, Jelly walking confidently between them on her leash, Riku couldn’t stop smiling. He glanced at Daeyoung, their hands brushing occasionally as they walked. “This was the best decision ever.”

Daeyoung looked at Riku and then at Jelly, who barked once in agreement. “I think so too.”

The morning sunlight filtered softly through the curtains as Riku stirred, still half-asleep. He rolled over and smiled, his gaze landing on Daeyoung, who was already awake and scrolling lazily through his phone.

“Good morning,” Riku mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. He scooted closer, pressing a kiss to Daeyoung’s cheek before planting another on his lips. Daeyoung chuckled, setting his phone aside to return the gesture, his fingers brushing lightly through Riku’s tousled hair.

“Morning,” Daeyoung murmured, his voice low and warm. “Ready to get up?”

“Not yet,” Riku said, burying his face in Daeyoung’s chest for a moment. “Five more seconds.”

Daeyoung laughed softly, wrapping an arm around him. “We’ll be late if you keep this up.”

Reluctantly, Riku pulled back, a playful pout on his lips. They finally got out of bed, stretching and sharing a few more soft kisses before heading to their separate routines.

In the adjacent room, Jelly stirred at the sound of their voices. Surrounded by plush blankets and her favorite toys, she let out a small yawn, her tail wagging as she padded out of her cozy bed. She trotted to the door, waiting patiently for it to open.

Riku opened the door and grinned as Jelly bounded out, immediately circling his legs in excitement. “Good morning, Jelly,” he said, crouching to ruffle her fur. She barked softly, her tail wagging furiously.

As Daeyoung headed to the kitchen to start breakfast, Riku slipped into his running shoes and clipped Jelly’s leash to her collar. “Let’s go, girl,” he said, and Jelly eagerly followed him outside. The two set off on their morning run, the brisk air invigorating them both as they jogged through the quiet neighborhood.

Back in the kitchen, Daeyoung moved with practiced ease, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filling the air. Daeyoung had started to learn how to cook Japanese food, so he learned how to prepare tamagoyaki, much to Riku’s delight. He set the table for two, adding a small plate of treats for Jelly, who always joined them at breakfast after her run.

By the time Riku and Jelly returned, slightly winded but smiling, the table was ready. Riku kissed Daeyoung’s cheek in thanks before sitting down, while Jelly happily settled near her bowl.

Their mornings were simple but full of joy—a reflection of the life they’d built together. As they shared breakfast, exchanging laughter and stories about their plans for the day, the warmth between them was palpable. Jelly lay contentedly at their feet, her tail occasionally thumping against the floor.

Life was good—peaceful, full of love, and exactly as they wanted it to be.
