AI - an artificial intelligence system created to maintain and monitor Jaegers and pilots based on their current conditions in the field. Used in Gipsy Danger.
Bloodmist - emitted by the decomposing bodies of Kaiju, harmful and deadly to humans if exposed to it or if they breathe it in. (radioactive?) Given the toxic nature of the Kaiju, Jaegers were required to rely on hand-to-hand combat and close-quarters weapons such as swords or other blade-type weapons to avoid mass spreading of Kaiju Blue if long ranged weapons such as missiles/bombs are used.
Chain of command: Marshal (of the Shatterdome base), Officer, Rangers/pilots.
Conn-Pod - Connection podium (where drifts occur in the mechs), cockpit and control center of Jaegers.
Drivesuit - body armor used to interface with the Jaeger and protect the body of the Ranger from injury sustained during battle with a Kaiju. Rangers are taken to the Drivesuit Room to be outfitted into his or her Drivesuit by a technician. The battle armor contains life support and magnetic interfaces at the spine, feet, and all major limb joints. It relays incoming and outgoing neural signals. Bulletproof. Uses Electromyography, (EMG) is a technique for evaluating and recording the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles.
GD6 Chain Swords - Two retractable swords made from steel-obsidian alloy that can be used as solid blades or whips. The swords are built into Gipsy Danger's forearms and are more resistant to deep ocean pressure than other weapon systems.
Headspace - In an active neural handshake, the melded subconscious of the Jaeger pilots creates a “headspace" where two minds communicate.
J-Tech - Jaeger Technology & Development.
Jaeger - mecha suit.
K-Science Division - Kaiju Science Division. Sub-division of the PPDC, concerned with Kaiju science.
Kaiju Blue - the designated Pan Pacific Defense Corps term for the toxic agent in the blood of the Kaiju. Phosphorescent material. Toxic to the environment and Humans. (related: Bloodmist).
Kaiju Bone Powder - powder rumored to be and sold as an aphrodisiac.
LOCCENT Mission Control - Local Command Center, area in the Shatterdome used to oversee Jaeger operations.
Mark Status - “Mark" label assigned to each Jaeger refers to the launch schedule. Each Jaeger is individual in it’s design for varied skill in combat.
- Mark-1 – Mark-3 Jaegers utilized nuclear reactors, which put their pilots at substantial risk of developing cancer. Classified as Analog.
- Mark-4 – Mark-5 Jaegers, however, used digital technology, minimizing the dangers to the pilots inside the Conn-Pod. Since these are digital, they are prone to EMP style attacks from Kaiju.
Neural Handshake - the final process of the Drift and a bind that enables the two pilots' minds to manipulate their Jaeger's every movement.
Neural Load - the strain on an individual during a Drift.
Neural Overload - too much mental pressure on a pilot, can occur from singular piloting of a mech.
Oblivion Bay - Disposal area of destroyed Jaegers.
Pan Pacific Defense Corps - A task force was formed of nations coming together to pool their resources to fight Kaiju.
Pan Pacific Defense Corps Proving Ground - Jaeger Testing Facility.
Pan Pacific Memorial Cemetery - A memorial to all those who couldn’t be buried and/or were killed in the Kaiju war.
Ranger - official term for a Jaeger Pilot.
Relay Gel - Data transmitted from the helmets disperses the Relay Gel into the circuitry suit.
Shatterdome technicians - play a part in initiating the final procedure of the Drift, the Neural Handshake.
Spinal Clamp - connect the spines of the two pilots together when attached to the Conn-Pod systems. Spinal clamps are shown to be consistently active before placement and are stored in foam-lined containers. Spinal clamps connect the vertebra of the pilot's spinal cord to different sections of the Jaeger's spine.
The Breach - where Kaiju come from.
The Drift - (also known as Drifting or Bridged) is a mental process that two Jaeger pilots undergo before synchronizing with the Jaeger itself.
The Pons - Latin word for "bridge,” the Pons is a revolutionary connection system that forges two brains into a singular consciousness. The initial design of the Pons was a skeletal helmet with circular clamps that fixed it to the head of the user. Pons were later constructed within the interior of the helmets for Drivesuits to work in tandem with the entirety of the Drift process inside the Jaeger. When connected through the Drift, pilots are able to "see" what the Jaeger does through the Pons interface; it allows them to pick up telemetry from whatever sensors are in the direction the pilot looks
The Shatterdome - primary headquarters of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps and factories for the construction, repair, maintenance and launch of the Jaegers. All operations, Ranger training and experiments regarding the Kaiju are carried out within their respective Shatterdome bases. Shatterdome includes the locations of:
