Vilkas has never once described himself as a dog.
It felt derogatory, seeing as he was burdened by the beast.
Yet here he was, sitting like a loyal mutt awaiting the return of his owner. Midri was not his “owner”, per se, but his heart did belong to her. Jorrvaskr felt empty without her around.
Others gave him passing glances of various emotions, but none of them phased him in the slightest. His concentration was on that damn door.
Then, a sudden click. His eyes widened. The door swung open, and his shoulders straightened.
Vilkas smiled brightly. Midri was home.
