Chapter Text
Yuji woke up at 6:15 AM to get ready for school. After he finished brushing his teeth and getting dressed in his uniform he saw his brother heating up some milk for his cereal. “You do know that you’ll fall asleep in class if you eat warm cereal right, Sukuna?” Yuji never understood why his brother ate his cereal warm, Yuji liked his cereal cold and crunchy, Yuji always thought that if cereal was warm then it would be classified as soup.
“You never mind your own business do you, Yuji?” There was silence before Sukuna spoke again. “Your cereal is on the table.” “Thanks.” There was an awkward silence before Sukuna tossed a roll of money on the table “Yuji, where’d you get this?” Yuji did shady security guard jobs on the side to help Sukuna with the rent, but obviously Sukuna didn’t know. Yuji couldn’t get any jobs to hire him unless it was either something shady or the job payed minimum wage. Their grandpa died when Yuji was 5, Sukuna was 8. Gojo & Geto helped them and paid for their rent, food, and clothes until Sukuna turned 14. That’s when Gojo helped him find his first job. It was a cashier job at the local supermarket. Suddenly Yuji wasn’t so hungry anymore.
“I don’t know, I found it on the ground in an alleyway.” Yuji hoped that Sukuna would buy the lie. “I’m taking the Xbox and breaking it if you say some stupid lie like that again.” Sukuna bought Yuji an Xbox when he was working as a cashier, it was so Yuji could pass the time while Sukuna was away working. Gojo & Geto couldn’t watch Yuji because they (obviously) had jobs. They worked as teachers and still are working as teachers.“Can we just drop the conversation? Please? I don’t want to go to school on the first day upset.” Sukuna didn’t wanna be late for school, considering that the time was 7:56 AM and school started at 8:15 “Fine, but you’re telling me where you got the money from when we get back from school.”
It was an awkward bus ride to school, even though the bus was empty it still felt crowded with the silence Sukuna and Yuji created. They arrived at school and made their way to the entrance when Yuji saw the name of the school on the wall next to the doors. “Jujutsu High? Where does the ‘Jujutsu’ come from?” Yuji looked at Sukuna, only to see him shrug.
The two brothers made their way inside, they were about to go to the office when they heard some commotion in the hallway to their right, Sukuna was going to ignore the commotion, but then Yuji ran towards it. Sukuna sighed and walked to the pile of people surrounding these two adults. One with long black hair, half of it being tied up into a bun, the rest of the hair being let down, pinning the other adult with his elbow who had white hair and wore round black glasses. “Hey, isn’t that-” Yuji was sure he’s seen these two adults before. Sukuna groaned at the thought of them being teachers, even worse, his teachers. “I surrender! I surrender!” The white haired man repeatedly tapped the other adults arm.
“Are you sure, Satoru? ‘Cause it seems like you’re still gonna eat my lunch, no matter how many times I humiliate you in front of the first-years.” Geto looked up for a split second and had to look back up to realise he had spotted Sukuna. “Sukuna?” Geto was surprised to see him here, with Yuji as well nonetheless. “Suguru, I think you’re hallucinating, maybe you should-” Gojo stopped talking as Geto grabbed his face and pointed his vision towards Sukuna and Yuji. Gojo didn’t spot them until they pushed through the crowd to get a closer look at Gojo and Geto. “Oh, hey you two!” Gojo struggled to pull his arm out from under himself and give them a wave.
As Geto got off of Gojo and helped him up, Gojo dusted himself off and ended the hilarious entertainment for the students. “Alright, show’s over! Everyone gets to class! Go on now, shoo.” As Gojo shooed every one of his students into his class and shut the door Geto opened his arms to Yuji “It’s nice to see you two again.” As he hugged Yuji, Gojo held out his hand to Sukuna. “You expect me to shake your hand after what I just witnessed?” Sukuna raised his eyebrows and Gojo raised his eyebrow. Sukuna shook his head and grabbed Gojo’s hand and pulled him in for a hug.
“You told me you guys weren’t going to sign up for this school, what changed your mind Sukuna?” Geto was curious, Sukuna had said that they were going to choose another school, that was closer to the supermarket. “Oh yeah, I got a new job. Pays better than my first one.” Geto furrowed his brows, “You quit your job, Sukuna?” Geto had told Sukuna to only get another job if Yuji had gotten one, which he hadn’t, which was obvious. “Yeah, it’s a job from a friend. He helps me out sometimes. He told me he needed a new manager so I took the job. He actually goes to this school so, yeah.” Geto was disappointed in Sukuna for quitting his, decent, (horrible) paying job. “What’s his name?” Geto originally assumed that it was one of Sukuna’s horrible influencing friends. “Hakari.” Hakari is actually the one who’s giving Yuji those shady security guard jobs. “Oh yeah! He’s actually a cool guy, he’s funny.” Yuji remembered how Hakari actually cared for him and didn’t think twice to leave Yuji on the side when things were getting dangerous. “Well, Suguru here teaches the third-years, so Sukuna you can go with him. And Itadori, you’re in my class so you can head on in!”
As Sukuna and Yuji waved their goodbyes to each other and went on about their classes. “Yuji, you can sit next to Fushiguro in the back to the right.” As Yuji put down his backpack and sat in his seat, he couldn’t help but try and sneak a glance at Megumi, only to get caught by him and his dark blue eyes. Yuji got flustered and looked away, but then Megumi spoke. “Is there something wrong?” Yuji looked back at him, “Oh, no. I was just curious on what you looked like, ‘cause I didn’t get a good look at you before.” Yuji felt embarrassed as the silence got louder between them but then Megumi spoke once again. “How do you know Gojo-sensei?”
Yuji didn’t want to give Megumi the whole story but didn’t want to be rude and avoid the question all together. “Oh, he took care of me and my brother for a little while.” “Interesting..” Megumi used to stay at Gojo’s place when Toji went to visit Megumi’s mother in the hospital. “How do you know him?” Megumi was trying to figure out something to say to bend the truth and not lie entirely, but, before he could say anything Yuji spoke. “If you don’t wanna tell me, you don’t have to.” “That’s thoughtful.” It was safe to say, Yuji and Megumi had become friends. “What’s your name? Mine’s Itadori Yuji.” “Mine’s Fushiguro Megumi.” Yuji had taken a second to think about Megumi’s name. Megumi? Doesn’t that mean..
“Your mom named you a blessing?” Megumi winced when Yuji said the word “mom”. “Uh, actually my dad named me. My mom..” Yuji could tell something personal happened between Megumi’s mom and him so decided not to pry any further. “Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to. You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.” Megumi had the perfect question to ask. “Who’s your favourite music artist?” Yuji was excited to answer the question “Tyler, The Creator, yours?” Megumi had to think about it for a couple of seconds. “Gorillaz.” “You got a favourite song?” Megumi’s first thought was Feel Good Inc. “Feel Good Inc, yours?” Yuji really liked EARFQUAKE, but another song came to mind. “Are We Still Friends, that’s my favourite song. It has a deep meaning that speaks to me y’know?”
Megumi understood what Yuji meant, it took him awhile to realise they were in class, supposed to be taking notes. But luckily, Gojo had other plans “Alright class! Today we aren’t going to be working today, instead, you guys are gonna get free time and the second-years are going to be visiting this class!” Megumi glared at Gojo, although he wasn’t sure if Gojo even saw it considering he was wearing those stupidly dark and round glasses. Yuji was curious if Megumi knew any of the second-years “Do you know any of the second-years, Fushiguro?” “Unfortunately, yes.” Gojo opened the door and sat down in his office chair and spun around. A man wearing a trench coat that’s unbuttoned, under his trench coat he’s wearing a suit complete with a tie. “This is Kusakabe, he teaches the second-years. Speaking of second-years, you guys can come in!” A girl with green hair wearing square glasses walked in, wearing the usual girl’s uniform, along with two other kids. The first one, was wearing a white beanie, a black smart casual sweater, black cargo pants topped with black and white Jordan 1’s.
The second kid came in, platinum blonde hair, purple coloured eyes, wearing a black covid mask, wearing a navy blue zip-up hoodie, navy blue joggers and Retro High OG Dark Marina Blue Jordan 1’s. Wow these kids like Jordan’s a lot huh. “These are the second-years! Introduce yourself to the class!” The green haired girl spoke first, “I’m Maki, I like junk food, I hate vegetarian food aanndd, that’s it.” The kid wearing the smart casual sweater spoke next. “Hey, you guys can just call me Panda, I like eating calpas and like collecting panda merch.” And now it was finally the last boy’s turn to speak, but he didn’t say single word. “That’s Inumaki, he’s mute. He likes eating tuna mayo onigiri and watching YouTube videos.” Panda spoke for him.
“You know all three of them?” Yuji whispered not to catch any of the second-years attention. “Yup, Maki is my cousin.” Megumi whispered back to Yuji, trying not to catch the attention of the second-years as well. “Alright well, I need to step out and talk with Kusakabe! You guys can talk or go on your phones and stuff.” Gojo and Kusakabe walked out of the classroom as Maki closed the door behind them.
Megumi could see Maki walking towards him out of the corner of his eye. She stood in front of his desk. She raised an eyebrow as she waited for a response. “Hey Maki, good to see you again.” Megumi had avoided eye contact, Maki exhaled as she looked at Yuji. “Who are you?” It took a second for Yuji to realise she was talking to him. “Oh, I’m Itadori Yuji, nice to meet you!” Yuji stood up and held out his hand for Maki to shake, but she just looked at his hand in disgust. “Maki doesn’t like to be touched by strangers.” Megumi chuckled as he said that, Yuji looked at Megumi and then back at Maki. “Oh my bad! You must be Fushiguro’s cousin!” Yuji pulled back his hand and as he sat back down, the other second-year, Panda spoke. “Hey Fushiguro!”
Panda waved at him as he walked up to his desk, Inumaki was following closely behind him. “Hey Panda.” Panda looked at Yuji with curiosity. “What’s your name, stranger?” Panda held out his hand for Yuji to shake. “Name’s Itadori Yuji, I like your shoes.” Yuji shook Panda’s hand. “Heh, thanks! It was actually a gift from Inumaki, we got each other Jordan’s for each others birthday. He even got me anti creases for mine.” Yuji could tell Panda was a nice guy, he gave off those vibes. Inumaki waved his hand in front of Maki, “Hm? What’s wrong?” Maki turned to face Inumaki, he signed There’s a girl over to the left who can’t stop eyeing you. Maki looked over only to see a girl with hazel hair looking at her. Maki tried to stare the girl down to make her look away, but, it didn’t work.
Panda made a smug face as he and Inumaki looked at each other. Panda and Inumaki started to push Maki to the girl who wouldn’t stop staring at her. “What are you-” Maki was in front of the girls desk before she even noticed, Maki looked back only to find Panda and Inumaki back in front of Megumi’s desk, giving her a thumbs up. Maki sighed and turned back towards the girl, who was now on her phone. “What’s your name?” The girl looked up from her phone and looked at Maki. “Name’s Kugisaki, do you need something?” Maki looked at her with the most confused look on her face. “You were the one staring at me, if anything I should be asking you that question.”
Kugisaki chuckled, then tapped the empty seat next to her gesturing for Maki to sit down next to her. Maki rolled her eyes, then sat down. “What’s got you so glued to your phone?” Maki noticed that because Kugisaki hadn't made eye contact ever since Maki sat down. “Oh, nothing.” Kugisaki shut off her phone and put it facing down on her desk. “Mhm, sure, so why were you eyeing me earlier?” The curiosity was killing Maki, “It’s because uh, you had something in your hair.” Kugisaki had a good poker face but Maki could see through her bullshit. “No I didn’t have something in my hair, so I’ll ask one more time. Why were you eyeing me?”
“Well, you have determination, I’ll give you that, as for the reason on why I was eyeing you.. I’ll tell you when I get to know you better.” Kugisaki had turned her head to face the wall as she spoke. Maki snorted, “ I can tell we’re going to be good friends, Kugisaki.”

“I wonder what they’re talking about.” Yuji was looking over at the two girls talking. Panda put his elbow on Yuji’s desk and laid his head on the back of his hand. “Who knows? Maki likes people who are tough and.. Bodacious.” Megumi looked at Panda, “Bodacious? Seriously? Out of all the words you could’ve chosen, you chose ‘Bodacious’?” Panda looked at him with a confused face. “Yeah! You know ‘Bodacious’ is my favourite word Fushiguro!” Panda looked at Yuji, “What’s your favourite word Itadori?” Yuji was taken back at the sudden question. “My favourite word? It’d probably be boyfriend. Because.. when you think of a boyfriend, you think of kindness, protectiveness, care and being handsome.” Megumi’s eyes widened as he looked at Yuji. Of course, Megumi didn’t say anything, he didn’t want to pry on Yuji’s personal gender preference.
