“Amb he’s getting away~” Nellie called, her voice sounding almost bored as she wiped the blood from her hands.
“I KNOW!!!” Amber barked back as she reloaded her pistol, chasing after the man they were tasked with ending that night. Rain splattered on the ground, making it hard to hear where this man was running to. Amber quickened her pace, turning a sharp corner and holding up her gun, aiming it at a man’s head.
“A-Amb..?” the voice called out, shakey and soft. She lowered her gun… it was Seven. Her heart was racing. Why was he here? Where’s the other guy? I have to find him. But how could he be here right now?
“Amb what’s-”
SPLASH-!
Her instincts took over, she pushed Seven aside and aimed up, into the fire escape of a nearby building and-
BANG!
She shot him. His blood dripped from the metal grating as his body laid limp. Amber let out a sigh of relief as she lowered her gun, then felt a shakey hand on her shoulder.
“Amb why was that guy- why did you-?” He was shaking, he looked like he was about to cry… or was he already crying? The rain made it hard to tell.
Amber reached out a hand to him, trying to place it gently on his cheek but he pulled back. Her heart stung. “I-I’m sorry baby but, that was a bad guy! He was gonna hurt us so I-”
“He was runnin’ away from ya Amb, he was scared of ya.”
“Y-yeah but baby-”
“Yo Amber! What’s takin' so long,” Nell’s heels clacked as she walked up, then she saw Seven. A wicked smile spread across her face, “Oh Amb~”
“Wait Amb, why is Nell here??” Seven gripped her shoulders. He looked so scared. Amber opened her mouth to say something, but Nell cut her off.
“Well… finish him off.”
“What-” Amber’s voice was shaking. She knew she had to but- she looked up to Seven. She couldn’t.
“He could jeopardize everything Amb, you have to.”
“Have to what?”
“N-No Nell, I can’t I-” She grasped at Seven’s shirt. Her hands shook as she held on, desperately.
Nell watched the sorry state Amber was in, unamused. Seven hesitantly put his arm around her, trying to calm her down. She saw him gently whisper a few things to her and rolled her eyes, pulling out her gun. “You were always a fucking romantic.”
BANG!!!
The shot rang out and echoed throughout the night. The pouring rain practically white noise. Amber looked up at Seven, then down to his chest, red staining his white shirt, it was spreading, growing out from where his heart would be. His body fell limp on the ground.
“No… no no no No NO NO !!!!” Amber bent down next to him, quickly unbuttoning his shirt as the blood pooled underneath him. She was panting as she ripped some of her shirt, trying to stop the bleeding. “no no no” she muttered under her breath, her vision blurring from the tears.
As she fumbled with the fabrics she felt a cold hand gently touch her face, she looked toward Seven. He gently smiled at her, “It’s ok Amb…”
“No, no. I- I can’t lose you,” she choked out the words, hunching herself over his body. She gripped the hand on her face tightly.
“I- I love you~” Seven whispered as the light faded from his eyes, his hand went limp, and the blood pooled beneath the both of them.
“No, please no. I- I need you please, please my songbird-,” she gripped him tightly in her arms, had he always felt this cold? As she shook she felt a hand on her shoulder, it was Nell.
“C’mon, we have to clean this up.”
Amber looked up at her, tears in her eyes, blood dripping off her clothes, and quietly nodded.
