Work Text:

Mother groaned, blinking his eyes open as he lay on the cot. Looking up at the 360 window, another Cloudy day in Scotland.

Yet when he got up, he took in a deep breath. And god it hurt, like if something was putting pressure on his lungs. He coughed, sitting back down on the bed. Trying to focus his eyes on something as his groggy vision from awakening was there. Yet his left eye ached, as if a vein was gonna pop. And the headache he felt didn’t help the situation at all.

He blindly reached for his phone as he called Monty.

Soon the line was picked up, her voice spoke first.

”Awake from your Hibernation, Bertie?”

She said with a chuckle, he scoffed.

“Yeah, yeah…Well can you come to the apartment of mine, dear?”

”Yeah, you need me to bring something?”

”Uhhh… if you could, could you bring Tylenol?”

”Are you sick?”

”Maybe..”

”…Alright I’ll be there in a few minutes, the kids are in the dining room eating already.”

Then she hung up, he lay back on the bed, waiting.

Soon he heard her enter the room.

”That was fas—”

”You look like shit.”

”…official good morning to you to, Monty.”

She walked over to him, he lazily sat up.

”Was it because you went out grocery shopping in a sweater and it started raining?”

Monty said, as she grabbed his bottle of water from the nightstand and handed him the Tylenol Pills.

”Yeah I think so.”

He responded. Downing the Pills and water.
Both adults looked at each other as they heard voices running up the stairs to them.

”Dad?”

Brooklyn spoke, being the first one to like her head through the doorway, followed by Paris and Sydney bursting through the door. Soon followed by Kat, Cairo, and Rio.

”Yes, my wonderful children?”

”Are you sick?”

Sydney spoke first.

”Yes, Sydney. I am.”

She walked over to her father.

”I can tell.”

”THAT’S THE SECOND TIME SOMEONE’S TOLD ME THAT IN 30 MINUTE—“

He responded, slowly trailing off into a fit of laughter.

”Now go back to the house, and finish your breakfast and chores. We’ll go out for a game if Hawks and Sparrows later.”

He said, kissing them on the forehead as they left.

Monty grabbed the blanket and draped it over him, tucking him in like if he were a child. Kissing his forehead.

“Monty! I am not a child! I am a full grown adu—“

”you act like a child.”

She responded with a small snicker.

”Call me if anything. I’ll bring you breakfast in a few.”

She said as she headed for the doorway. He smiled to himself, he had a caring family.

But god did he wish for this sick feeling to end.
