“Dude, how long has Net been at this for?” Dunbun asked, looking over at Coe.
Net’s been laser focused on some Kirby game ever since he started his break. He was just playing on some Gameboy he probably stole from Cdot, but he was focused. Dunbun and Coe weren’t sure how long it’s been since he started his breaks, but the two of them knew how strict The Boss was when it came to breaks. Seriously. If you asked Coe or Dunbun the last time they worked any overtime, they wouldn’t be able to tell you. None of the clones would be able to tell you. The Boss wasn’t the best person, but at least he didn’t force overtime.
Net was in his casual can you parry that hoodie. He wasn’t wearing the mask, which was shocking. Normally, he wore that religiously. To Dunbun, it was a shock to see him even take it off. He’s worn one of those masks before, and you can’t even see through them. Unlike Cdot–whose eyes are a mossy green–Net’s eyes were yellow, which was strange…but Dunbun’s eyes were green. He couldn’t complain.
“I would not be able to tell you.” Coe responded, blinking. “How do you think he even rages? He can’t…you know, talk.” To Dunbun, Coe’s accent seemed to grow thicker with each word he spoke. It was one detail Dunbun admired about Coe. “Do you think he simply throws a tantrum as if he were a toddler?” Coe asked.
Dunbun stifled a laugh, exhaling slowly. “Maybe! You never know. Plus, if we’re supposed to be like the opposites of the real versions of us, maybe Net loses his cool more easily.” He shrugged.
As if on cue, Net threw the Gameboy on the table in front of him. He stood from his chair, running his hands through his hair as he seemed to scream–not audibly, of course. He briefly grasped the back of the chair, and Dunbun was worried he’d try and throw it on the ground for a few seconds. Surprisingly, he didn’t. He just sat back down, and began playing again.
“Holy shit.” Dunbun whispered. “I think he might be the only clone in here who can keep his cool.” He added, almost chuckling.
“Just barely.” Coe rolled his eyes, walking off.
It felt like forever had passed, and Dunbun just watched Net sit there and try to play some Kirby game. Dunbun only stopped watching when D.D. came and joined Net. All Net did was glance up at D.D. before looking back at his Gameboy.
Dunbun could officially say that the clones were weird, but they were family.
